Brown jersey gloves...$1 here in Texas...so you won't burn your hands...baby powder for me all these years of tinting...I like to go underneath the film too as I'm shrinking...everyone has different techniques...as you get experience you'll find out what works for you... One time a customer complained that the car was wet...so my bud said sorry we were out of the dry water n we had to use the wet water...

Thanks for share your knowledge 👍, yesterday got a ford focus I learned dry shrink but had to wet shrink the back glass because the glass has kind condition like it was exposed too much to outside elements, tried bounce but not help, so gotta go back to old school "wet method" by the way I forgot how to wet shrink big glass😂 so get couples creases lol

I feel like dryer sheets stick more and is more prone to creasing with someone not as experienced because they usually dont take it slow. I feel like DSP is easier to work with on shrinking and you can go a bit faster it just feels smoother to me
@DetroitTintStudio
@DetroitTintStudio 3 года назад
could definitely be the film/dryer sheets too. I've found a lot of small differences between all the options.

I just tried doing this today and all four corners shrunk onto the inside and then it was impossible to mold the film. I burnt it and had to discard it. Now I'm screwed. It looks so easy in the video.

Why dont you use dryer sheets for the front windows?
@mcconn746
@mcconn746 2 года назад
I am starting at square 1. The windows on my truck are tinted and they are on the inside of the windows. Are you going to move the shrunk tint to the inside of the window or is that finished with a little trim around the edges??? Sorry for such a basic question.

Are you familiar with Scorpion window film by chance? If so is it any good? Saw some on Amazon the other day, Thought about trying either that or Lexen's new PureMax nano carbon film.

Fabric softener is basically liquid wax. Dryer sheets are the same. Not sure they'll make ya glow in the dark long term.

How do you think the future looks for tinters? With all the talk about driverless cars and people eventually not owning cars ? Thanks for your videos
@DetroitTintStudio
@DetroitTintStudio 3 года назад
Good question, I think quite some time before that happens but when it does, I'd imagine the glass will already be tinted or a handful of large companies will get the fleet accounts.

Hey bro, what are the benefits of using a felt card vs let's say a 3M rounded edge gold card or other types of semi hard cards? Great videos BTW🤘
@DetroitTintStudio
@DetroitTintStudio 3 года назад
1 big reason I use a felt card over most anything is its pretty forgiving. My old videos had a gold Teflon hard card and sometimes I would be in the middle of shrinking a back window and the card would hit a spec of sand or hard dirt and rip thru the film. felt cards skip over almost everything and if you are moving quick and accidentally crease the film, sometimes it's lighter and can be heated back out.

In a humid environment where everyrhing takes longer to dry out I think wet shrinking would be the best option if you can do that
@DetroitTintStudio
@DetroitTintStudio 2 года назад
No not from my experience. Dry shrinking may take a little longer to setup but you can work on the rest of the car so a humid environment wouldn’t make the process take longer

Not all film shrink so easily there’s some very bad film that’s so difficult to shrink if you learn from that one you will be the best ...I just use a small rag to shrink film because I learnt from shrinking bad film
