Welcome to the first episode of a series on my channel where I am going to break down some of the most common questions I get, as a Pro Shop Operator, on a day to day basis.
First up, how to properly understand and layout a bowling ball using Mo-Pinel's Dual Angle Layout System.
The Dual Angle Method Article can be found here:

Hi, thank u so much for this great video! I really understand the dual angles much better now and will help me determine how i should communicate with my pro shop when purchasing my next ball.

I'm definitely feeling more comfortable and confident with transitioning my equipment because of your videos, I can look at the layout on my ball and have a good idea what it will do in response, instead of the general I think this ball will work.

You are 100% correct, in my talking (and doing about 10 takes) I accidentally said roll instead of hook. Thank you for pointing that out!

First let me say that your video was very well done. I learned dual angle drilling from Mo Pinel, and only lay out my balls that way. Your statement about lining up the 'center' of the line for the '0' on the Pro Sect is incorrect. If you look at your Pro Sect, you'll see that to the right of the 'center' brace there are 4 lines before the 5° line, and to the left there are only 2 lines before the 5° line...this tells you that 0° is actually the right side of the center brace. It's not a big deal, but for those that get into the difference of 45° and 48°, it could be significant. Keep up the great work, John

You are correct, there is actually a little "punch mark" on the side of the Pro Sect where the degrees are listed that is your true "0". I misspoke and didn't catch it during editing so sorry about that.

Excellent video. Small technical complaint, lol - for the drill angle, you state the lower the number the earlier the ball will get into a roll. Technically, the lower the number the shorter the skid phase and the earlier the ball will enter the hook phase.

I am definitely trying, but with the amount of video editing/animation time (plus it not being my full time job) it makes it really difficult to post more than I have been. For now I would expect a new video about once a week, maybe slightly slower than that. I am trying to get them out as quickly as I can, its just a lot more work behind the scenes than most people realize. For instance, this video was about 5 minutes of recording and 10 hours of editing. Thanks for watching!!!

I just realized as I was typing this. This is a 10-year-old video lol But if you happen by chance to run across my question, I'm wondering since you were a conventional bowler looks like a right-handed with a thumb. How about for a right handed? No thumb blower. Would you put the holes in the center of grip?

Weight hole placement, also in depth on actually drilling a ball after laying it out. i understand how to lay a ball out out but i dont know how to drill it after i lay it out and im interested to see that part of the process. your video on the dual angle layout was the most informative and ive watched it multiple times. Im trying tof get into drilling balls and all the information i cant get helps. thank you for your quick response

I plan to do more pro shop videos in the future as time permits. This is a great topic and I believe it would be a decent one to cover here in one o the next couple episodes. Right now I am working on a brand new project and have, what I believe is, a big announcement coming shortly so once that is off the ground and running this series will pick back up again. Stay tuned!

Hey man, thanks for the video, its more detailed than other pretenders just saying numbers without explanation Should I have my pro shop drill every ball the same? Would this keep the balls different from each other and therefore more versatile when needed a ball for a different pattern/condition/broken lanes? Should I have several of the same ball drilled differently instead of having different balls? I think it kinda beats the purpose of adapting to the lanes if you have balls drilled different to play the same, like over-correcting the ball's natural self to play like another, like training a dog to be a horse. Am I wrong? does the drilling actually change that much of the ball's movement?
@sk8sbowlingreviews
@sk8sbowlingreviews 8 лет назад
The layout on a ball changes the motion about 5% while surface adjustments adapt about 35%. I would suggest you pick 2 or 3 layouts you like and stick to those, and utilize those layouts on different bowling balls.
@mythoughtsarefreedom

Question, have you used the Z axis drilling with the dual angle drilling method? Also do you use the motion hole and double thumb layouts?

hi there, so i drill two balls, hyroad and optimus... i wanted te hyroad for light oil an the other for medium...the drilling where..... hyroad 4 1/4 - 3 3/8 - 1 3/8... optimus 4 - 4 1/8 - 1 5/8.... testing it out the balls are behaving complete opposite of what was intendeed for... hyroad stronger more hook..... optimus longer little flare....why??? scraching my head
@colepavlishin5299
@colepavlishin5299 6 лет назад
You should take into account that the hy road is one of the best, best selling, and has been produced for over 9 years now, the optimus was one of storms worst bowling balls ever, I dont know a single person that has ever even said "yeah that optimus was pretty decent"

Is the Dual Angle method of any use when laying out for a Full Roller?
@sk8sbowlingreviews
@sk8sbowlingreviews 10 лет назад
I would suggest sticking with the "Full Roller" layouts given by the manufacturer for the ball unless you plan to move away from the Full Roller release at some point.
@toscodav

Full roller? why. isn't that obsolete?
@zdkerp
@zdkerp 7 лет назад
you should make a video on how to release the ball properly to get a good roll for better pin carry......you seem to be very detailed about your videos and I think that this would help a lot of bowlers

Did you realize that the Morich link is in Japanese and the Google translation is quite poor...
@sk8sbowlingreviews
@sk8sbowlingreviews 10 лет назад
Morich pulled down their website and the last time I checked the link was still valid but I can see now that it is re-directing to another site. I appreciate the heads up, for now there is no link in the description but if and when a valid link surfaces (or someone sends me one) I will re-post the information. Thank you for pointing it out!
