Putting a fairing on the Sun X1 commuter bike and talking about what the fairing is like and how the install went. Talking about a little downhill test with the fairing as well.
I'll admit that I wasn't expecting to find a video about 'bents among the "how to fix your Cat equipment" videos. :-) Good luck with the wind fairing! I've got two Bacchetta high-racer bents. No fairings, but they are pretty good bikes. One is for commuting and such, and the other is for going fast!
+SkyhawkSteve When I first started the channel I didn't know what subject to do videos on so I started doing various ones about stuff I liked. I ride my gold rush replica with fairing to work everyday and have a Rans Xstream for going faster that doesn't have a fairing. I sold my Sun X1 that is in the video. What model Bachettas?
Adept Ape I've got a Bacchetta Giro 26 that I use for commuting, running errands, etc. It has a steel frame and is a bit heavy, but it's been quite reliable (with 20k miles on it now). The other is the Bacchetta Carbon Aero 2.0. A very nice and fast bike! :-) The high-racer 'bents are harder to learn to ride, and may require longer legs to handle the larger wheels. I'm pretty happy with mine, though. Best regards!
+Knud Sandbæk Nielsen I've seen the aerodynamic luggage that is supposed to help, but didn't know it was more important. I guess the next step is a velomobile for me then. Thanks for commenting.
I have a Sun X1..and love it.....but just wondered where you got the longer fork in front as I would really like to go from the 16 inch tire in front to a 20......as the steering is a little bit twichy with the 16 inch wheel that came on the bike...it is a little bit of a job to balance it at low speeds................
You guys are lucky up there in Portland, you have Rose City Recumbents and Terracycle. I've been wanting to try a Cruzbike and they are the only dealer on the West Coast I can find.
A front wheel drive. The front is a kid's mountain bike and the rear,my old steel racing bike. With the tail box,I gain 5 sec per min on a more or less flat lap.Should do much better downhill. Will probably install the front fairing by tomorrow.
Building one from scrap can be fun.My polycarbonate fairing cost me two dollars, did the moulding myself, not that bad.The tail box is the one found on mopeds, two dollars, needs some repair and without keys.Your terracycle is a nice one too.Happy riding.
