This is the first time Tilly has rode in the "cold cold". The fairing provides great windchill protection. Today's ride would be impossible without it. Our cheeks would have froze.
Last night I took a ride at -5°F. Usually I need a face mask at that temperature. Comfortable without wearing it and the glasses don't fog up. When you get the fairing adjusted height and distance from you, it's real cozy.
@@rowtator6543 Wow! For me a cold ride 50 deg! Of course, during the summer I'm riding with heat index in the 100"s. After watching your video, I went out and mounted the head light like have yours. Will make it a lot easier if I decide to paint of tint my bubble.
@Larry Rogers I tried different locations for the lights behind the bubble. It just don't work. Too much reflection. T-cycle has it figured out with the simple light mounts.
This is the first time I have seen a fairing on a fatrike! I am sure that in those frigid temps, it makes a huge difference in comfort. I almost got one of those TerraCycle fairings for my current trike, but ultimately decided against it when the price of the vehicle was getting up there without it. I live on the Pacific Coast, so it doesn't get as cold as wherever you are, and I can bundle up enough to survive on colder rides. That miniature dog is pretty dog-gone cute with its head covered. I used to have a fatrike too ... they are a TON of fun to ride, as you know, and are essential in snow conditions like this. steve
This is my 2nd fairing. I had one on a Whizwheels (Terra Trike) years ago. It worked very well. The mittens are outside the bubble in the windchill. Wearing plastic bags over them eliminates heat loss from the fabric breathing. T-cycle products are top-notch. It would be nice if they had a "seconds bin" to buy "small cosmetic" defective products.
@@rowtator6543 I have been using some T-Cycle accessories for years, and I agree, they are top notch. Yes, a bin of seconds would be great! T-Cycle is pricey, so a slight savings on a second would be fine. Maybe they have their production methods so perfected that they don't have any seconds though!
Steve.. hello.. i also looked at them, my trike barely fits in the elevator, by adding the fairing, it was too long to fit without pushing that plexiglass up against the back of the elevator. 2nd thing to consider, will the trike make the turn out of the apartment and miss the opposing hallway wall. the length really needs to be considered when making a decision. These are intended for trikers/bikers who have a garage to put their rides in. Hope you are well.. It would however be nice to get a little shelter from the Portland rain. Fairings are intended to sit just below your sight line, the aerodynamics cause the air/rain to travel up and over you. These are very nice fairings. wish it would fit in my situation.
These attach to the boom only.. So FAT or regular doesn't matter.. When you order them, you need to tell t-cycle what trike/boom diameter you have so the clamps/brackets fit.
Great points Rob! Fatrikes are big to begin with, and with a fairing, they are huge! A garage is essential for a fatrike if a rider does not want to deal with tight maneuvering. steve
Belly laughed three times looking at little Tilly the wee wone! Can't wait till Spring gets here. Putting 'Tannus' airless tires on a delta-planform, vertical-seat, hand cycle that I recently bought used.
