Biking adventure from Missoula to friendliest town on The Great Divide Mountain Bike Route (GDMBR) - Ovando, Montana. Here we'll meet some guys passing through who share their bike bag setup and gear before sleeping in a Tipi!
This is DAY 11 of my first bikepacking learn as I go biking adventure!

Yohanna, happy to have you along for the ride! I honestly never realized how much I swore until watching my footage. Initially I was going to cut it out but then thought - why? It's who I am and it makes me giggle too. Happy it does for you too and thank you for taking the time to share kindness!

Note that my "honesty" comment was before I saw the episodes that covered periods and mosquito bites in private places. I thought we had mosquito problems here in Florida, but I've never experienced anything like that! Re: publicist - You need one! You are really good. Bike packing just isn't a viral topic. Unless, you have an episode where Will Smith slaps Chris rock. Look at Dixie with the Homemade Wanderlust channel. She has almost 400k subs and 63 million views. I love here and she's good, but you're better.

HA! You're too kind! Statistics show the YT attention span is 15-20min and since my channel is 2 months young I was staying within those "rules." If more people mention it down the line I'd be happy cutting out less. It would actually make it much easier to edit. Regarding your last comment - I hope each day you are feeling healthier! 🤗

Unbound and rattling around the North. Well done. Your interviews are really unique. My dream trips, starting in ‘22, are east of the GDMR running N/S along the Rockies from and out to the plains. Lower mountains and more long dirt stretches up into Alberta from NE Wyoming following the rivers. Yeah, the bois in their freaking trucks. I hear there is a chemical treatment for that.

Hi Naomi. Your so lucky to find the adventures you go on. George's house is a cool place, as is the little corner you found to camp in. But the new town you found, Ovando? What a cool place. The only sucky part was the jerk throwing ice at you. Looking at it positively is a good way to think about it but I doubt he had good intentions. (I hope you see his truck someplace.) The Tipi was a good choice, I had a Tipi on a piece of land before and they are great to sleep in. I miss mine. Hope you liked it. Any day with a Zebra cake in it is a good day right? Lol. Your interviews are great and I love your monologues, the way you explain everything is perfect. Thanks for posting another wonderful video, you made my day. ❤🌹

I had to watch the video again since you and my friend Deborah both mention "George." I was thinking - "who's George?" HA! I called her and she said it was a typo and that you probably saw her comment. It's Bruce's Missoula house. I agree with you - I'm sure the pickup driver would have been satisfied to see me ride off the road in his rearview mirror. Ya - Tipi (thanks for the correct spelling) = fun! 7:15 pertaining to the *truck* that's the right attitude 🙂 Just remember your on a bike and they can easily run you over. Having a conceal carry and permit on you could help

True indeed! I looked into the smallest pistol I and it’s just too heavy and after my experience on this trip, since it was my first bike/camp experience - I wouldn’t bring one next time. If someone’s gonna run me over - it is what it is

I have a revelate rear seat bag and it rubs on my back tire as well my solution was to put a strap around the bag and the rails on the seat an cinch it tight to the seat it works great for me have to check it once in while if you just bombed a bumpy road. Hope this helps good luck on your journey.

Where can I find/watch Between the Bridges? What was your role in the creation/production? Are you a filmmaker? Your shooting style has ... style. Not sure what it is. Is that the point? Your channel has me hooked. Enjoy your adventure and don't let the ice throwing assholes get to you, but I hope you track down that truck.

Hi Stephen - thrilled to have you along for the ride! Well...I haven't seen that name in years! It only ran the film festival circuit. I shot 80% and edited 50%. Was just a friend and I but we are both great storytellers. My "shooting style" is honestly just raw. I do have a good eye for framing though so that helps. I was hoping to find the truck - the video would go viral - the truck owner would find me - and run me down. HA!

I've always read and seen great things about Ovando through the many bikepacking & GDMBR youtube vids I watch - aside from the incident with the grizzly and female rider early this year. Glad you got the chance to see it and stay there. And Going to the Sun road in Glacier NP is one of my bucket list rides. I look forward to seeing your video of that ride! Loving your series! As a rider with a *cough* few Ti bikes (both MTB & gravel), it's cool to see someone with a Ti bike! ps. Fuk'n drivers throwing sh!t at cyclists! 🤬🤬🤬 Stay safe!

Great question! No. I don't think thieves seek heavy loaded bikes as they would be hard to ride away fast on or pick up to throw into a truck or hide in the truck. I do have insurance when I take these trips for $250/year which covers my bike, clothes, bags - it replaces them all if stolen. It also covers 100 miles to be picked up from the middle of nowhere.

@@HumanontheLoose Oh good idea. Do you use a bike lock or hide your bike? I wouldn't be too worried in a little trail town, but if I'm at some gas station that gets a lot of transients, I'm not going to make it easy for them.

I had a Walmart bike lock which I only used when I went into a supermarket. It's a personal risk and mine is usually attached to laziness and trusting it will be fine for my brief indoor jaunt for snacks. All being said - bikes should get locked when you leave them regardless of time away - but that's advice I won't follow. HA!
