I never paid much attention to Billy until I listened to this on an audio tape and nearly peed myself laughing. Have loved him ever since. Definitely one of Scotland's finest.
I have this on original vinyl. I remember listening to it on an old turntable with massive headphones. Its amazing how it all comes flooding back after 40 odd years verbatim in my head.
This is so clever as a story, because Billy doesn't attribute a club to this "hero". He is both sides and in that way, it is a perfect Glasgow story. This is why Billy is revered. He simply is the master story teller.

Is that you best attempt at hilarity Denis i'v been to around 50 old firm games when Celtic were poor from 89 till 2001 i think Celtic won 1 trophy in that 12 year period now it's Rangers turn for the humiliation from 2012 till present day what i do know is if a Celtic fan stood up in the Rangers end or a Rangers fan did it in the Celtic end if the Police never got to him before rival fan's he would be stabbed or punched and kicked till he was knocked out.I saw a Celtic fan caught at the motorway near the Celtic end get beat up knocked out cold then drooped onto the motorway amazingly no car hit him and he lived though he has disability problems as he suffered brain damage.If you Google Old firm murders you'll see how lethal this fixture is over the year's with the body count..

Never forget the rangers Manchester 2008 on the train down to many rangers supports going in that day so train bypassed Preston to Wigan or wot ever? Special train put on for rangers fans to go on to Manchester 2-3rd stop doors opened where ever 2 guys standing one dressed wot ever other Ireland top? Train full of rangers fans? U can imagine? Still got on and took it stinking but all in banter not one hand was raised songs sung ect... But that's wot it all about? Big massif balls guy had that day but remember we r all human and respect to every fan that day to see wot it all about! Best day of ma life even though we didn't win lol
