Ive been training with Karl Silver Fox Pravec for years and he is one of the most intelligent and precise technicians I have ever come across. A lot of Tristar success comes from Silver Fox BJJ, it brings me great pleasure to final do an episode featuring Fluid BJJ, a style of Jiu-Jitsu unique to the Silver Fox.
In this video we discuss various topics such as how to prolong you BJJ by avoiding overuse injuries. The importance of pool training to keep your body healthy and more.

learning JJ from a skinny guy is the best thing you can do, as they had to learn on using technique rather than muscling out of positions. great stuff!

Not necessarily true some longer taller bigger guys have a keen eye for detail but yes getting smashed under bigger guys does help develop defense

I love how Karel, even though he's just demonstrating techniques, always ends up with the arm bar or guillotine, like it's a reflex action. I bet if you shake his hand in real life he probably arms bars you unconsciously.

I absolutely love the concept of having two experts having a discussion about an issue/problem. This sets a standard for instructionals and far superior than simple dry run repetitions. Well done.

I bet watching Firas misunderstand and have to see the reguard from back door escape twice to understand it made a lot of us feel a lot less like an idiot for asking the instructor to show you stuff several times before understanding. Thanks for leaving that in, love the video.

Rp Senju a purple belt I roll with has been working on becoming a "bottom side control specialist"...I think he's gone crazy haha. It's gotten to the point that I, a guy who looks at top side as my favorite offensive position, don't even want to put him there because I don't want to deal that drama hahaha

Definitely soak it up as a beginner. Because what used to be advanced is now manys basics. Heck even what use to be called demo only techniques are now used on the regular. You keep the good attitude soak it up and put it in your game. As a beginner just keep mindful of principles and concepts like ● Space + weight (top and bottom game) ● Crushing game + floating game ● Recognizing gaps in your structure and tighten up your leaks (You'll then start to recognize the same in others game) ● Timing (get a good partner for slow rolls you can trust that wants to put in the time) - Position only - Position + Neck only - Position + Arms only - Position + Legs only - combo of any 2 - All ● Be mindful of Leverage and building frames ● Bridge lft/rt and shrimp ● Hips hips hips Keep your good attitude. I ordered a Bubba Dummy it helps me still with all the new games evolving to this day. I think it was the 7th one made. Like 20 or more yrs ago now. Anyway while some say heavy bag/dble end ect.. don't hit back I was out striking them, or grappling Dummy don't resist so it's useless. All of them that avoided sharing their knowledge and not being open trying to hold me back were tapping within my 1st yr in a school of jits back in the early day. I later became a certified MMA coach in 99. My point is people will say things whether consciously or non to hold you back. With your attitude and a submission Dummy you can develop details on top bottom and subs combos ect.. allot quicker. It's worth training the details solo. Not that you don't I'm just sharing my thoughts from my first yr. Analyzing matches and fights also helps. Now you have this technology and DVRS and all this. Awesome times! (In some ways)

Coach Zahabi, this vid is absolutely amazing! If I may offer a small bit of audio advice, just throw a boom mic on a C-stand and it should cover your audio nicely, and you won't have to worry about reattaching your Lavs or accidentally damaging the mics. I highly recommend a Zoom H4n + XLR cable+ Seinhesser 416 combo. Thanks so much for the vid. Amazing insight!
