BlackFencer Bayonet Trainer - First Look [HEMA] 

I am interested on your oppinion on the martial art of Jukendo from japan and the mokuju they use for training. Great content keep it up!!!

I really like the look of this trainer. I would be interested in using something like this as a training tool and think your mixed weapon combat sounds great. Sabre, broadsword, or spadroon against this would be fun. My bayonet training was a bit different being with an M-16. Unfortunately, my Army has decided that bayonet training is no longer important in basic training. I really disagree with this as the aggression training and ability to hit each other with simulators (pugil sticks) to get people starting to understand what it is like to receive a blow is important. Now the Marine Corps is the only US Military branch that extensively trains anyone in bayonet fighting. The bayonet assault course was a useful training environment to get people moving with live steel while striking targets on the move. Currently, the Marines use two types of trainers: pugil sticks and a roughed out wooden rifle with a rubber blunt on the end. While practicing the techniques the Marines (and the Army when we did it) just used our assigned rifles with the magazine wells empty and no ammo anywhere near. I'd poke someone with one of those. They kinda seem like a must have if you want to do the full Roworth manual.

I've thought about these, but how would they fair against steel swords? Alternatively, I'd use a toy cap gun or wooden nerf gun and mount a bayonet made from a fencing dagger blade or modded epee blade.

Too light, could stand to be twice their current weight.
