@Brian Rodriguez He wanted to use the tools he had access to, not turn blink into AvA. Sure there were hints of Ava but still very much blink. Mark and Travis wanted to go down shitty path of working with other writers. Which they did and now the music is forgettable, nothing memorable these days.
@Wise Man What the fuck are you talking about, "I Miss You" is one of the most successful singles of their career and in their top 3 all time hits, right next to "Small Things" and "WMAA". Plus, Blink wouldn't have held on to their prime anyway. The early to mid 2000s were the peak of the pop punk era. After that the scene has pretty much faded away from the mainstream scene along with its biggest bands.
Hard to believe this was 13 years ago.... I was hitting up the blink site back in grade 10 at lunch everyday praying for some leak or teaser. #nostalgia
Yes!! Great memory! I remember checking their website every day in high school for months waiting for these videos, and it just made the built up excitement for the release incredible. You just knew you were witnessing the making of a masterpiece. Then I remember buying the album on launch day and I was sick in bed with a fever, and had it playing on my CD walkman on loop for days. I remember thinking it was just the perfect album at that time, I could not believe how good it was.
@@sebastiancarrillo1769 he still has a little bit of it, but not much, but I think u can dig it up some where inside him, but honestly imagine he do this kind of things now when he is old.. 🤐
Wow that last scene from Not Now....amazing to see it in the process of being written. The last line ended up being "I'm right here waiting." He also changed it from "let's dance" to "please stay" at the beginning. One of the best blink songs ever
I like how Tom was taking his time with writing Not Now, although its an extra track it still hits hard af and in my opinion tops I Miss You and Always
I remember watching these videos straight from their website back in 2003. Crazy. At the time it was all random new music but now I can hear the specific songs they were working on and know what the songs turned into. Mind blown.
this brings me back to the day.....love these boys and their antics. having a f...ing good time without taking themselves too seriously, and making music.....Blink is boss!!
I can’t really pick any one album pretty much all of them you can listen through without skipping a track. IMO “Take Off” has one of the best guitar tones not just for blink but of all time as far as rock bands go it’s a super thick clean distortion not gritty not fuzzy I just love it, I don’t like gritty fuzzy distortion I like smooth distortion with a thick tone with mids that growel and a tight punchy low end People like to talk about all these classic rock albums like they are the best tones and don’t get me wrong many are absolutely AMAZING and some you can tell were good tones but recorded with crap equipment and sound dated.
*that feeling when you realize tom could have easily gotten his acoustic professionally fixed for a couple hundred dollars instead of smashing it on the pavement*
I remember back in the day it took like 3 hours to view / download / stream each video on our DSL / cable modems. Now we can watch all these videos instantaneously.
+TysonIsKetchy you're a moron if you couldn't see during most of the Blink years Tom made fun of hair bands and predictable mainstream bullshit like he does now.
God I miss this. I remember waiting for this album in highschool. Everyday I’d go online and try to wAtch the live feed they were doing ( wasn’t very successful)
Thank fuck for youtube. Awesome these clips are on here . I remember it was Year 11,constantly checking the live camera and seeing if any new studio vids were uploaded yet lol. Good times.
Coffee Tea Soda Pop Pee. Coffee Tea Soda Pop Pee. Coffee Tea Soda Pop Pee. Pee on me, Pee on Meeeee! Golden lyrics from a Man in love with caffeinated beverages & showers of the urine.
I just realized, that audio part is from another video. I mean, you can tell for the level of the sound that is always the same no matter if he is far or near. WEIRD SHIT.
I wonder if Tom ever watches these videos from time to time, just to remember the good days with his best friends. I support Tom and all his choices in life but I have to say I’m a bigger AVA fan than I am a Blink fan without Tom. Hope he is loving life and hope Mark and Trav are doing the same
7:15 was such a badass thing to hear back in 2003 when I was following their website after the album release. It was also cool to put the CD in my computer to rip them and see a few music videos on it!
32:52 my best friend passed away after his birthday this past october. His gf found him on their living room floor. That description reminded me so much of him.
I understand why they only show the parts where Tom and Mark are getting along, given the fact that Mark at the time was still pretty upset with Tom over the whole Box Car Racer thing.
I wonder if that's why Travis stuck around through the whole recording process. Not sure if it's in this video but I remember a video if him saying "normally I record drums and leave but im sticking around for this album" maybe he was doing a bit of peacemaking, or at least trying
@@slovely08 it is in this video. and it's my opinion that Mark was actually really happy with the band at this time because of the good work they were doing in the studio. they were really having fun and making something totally new with a whole new approach. before this, I know Mark was pissed with Tom, but in these videos it seemed like they were all excited.

Where’s the missing videos? Running over the guitar, all the pieces of Tom on the couch with the red guitar, recording feeling this on the les Paul.... etc... there’s at least 10 more minutes of footage

it's absolutely absurd to think about how much this album cost to record. imean millions of dollars, right? all in? they rented a mansion to record this shit in, then brought all those mixing consoles - huge, massive consoles - in AND out. it's unthinkable in these days to me. really wild.
Today they could make 10 albums with that budget. But remember, other than technological progress since then, this was also pre-financial crisis. Back when companies couldn't care less about throwing money around while the bankers were still building their financial a-bomb in the shadows.
Fucking amazing things!!!! OHHMG March 2019 ;) How I love them, how I miss I'm crazy here from south Brazil, just waiting for their annouce, to get the first flight with my bestfriend over here, whereever they gonna show up fisrt!!!!! AHHHH :(
At 8:30, was this used as a guitar layer in Not Now? Or was this just never used at all? One of my favorite recording videos and I’ve always been curious.
