'Mediocre' is too high praise for this trash fire. It's a cut-and-paste zombie clone of Ironman and Venom with worse CGI and acting. Half the movie is also in Spanglish. Good luck finding an audience for this internationally.
The most emotional part was when after the man said that Batman was fascist, Bruce Wayne himself comes down and ask for him to define Fascism. That part got me.
That Batman statement was appropatiate for the character and light hearted. It wasnt funny. I gave it a shot and it wasnt great at all mediorce at best.
I loved his response to Batman's simple request. When he said "Batman you're a bigot and racist" instead of just answering the question. It made me cry.
@@DekkarJr I really hate it when a movie covers this topic and then British RU-vidrs make fun of it. Oh, sorry we couldn't have been born in your country where you don't need to get the equivalent of a mortgage if you want to go college. Sorry we couldn't bumble into getting a degree in Journalism and end up as a writer for some trashy tabloid then accidentally end up with a successful RU-vid channel like Little Platoon.
I guess in a sense he keeps Order and fear in Gotham if we try to look at it that way But that's more like an enforcer than well dictator who only wants themselves in power So idk it doesn't really make sense to shove politics without actually showing how they came to be Like if the focus was on their past they could show it and show how grounded they are I mean the family straight up murders people too so yeah
@@thatoneginger6480 Because they can't act for shit? And because these hack "writers" only use their characters as propaganda-spewing mouthpieces? Why do you people always have to have everything explained to you?
Why r people mad at that line? Spidy has a journalist actively labelling him menace despite saving everyone and audience laughs about it but can't say the same for Batman? You think in real life everyone thinks in same way? Noone will come up with theories and opinions regardless how wrong or right they r?
This movie’s biggest problem was always going to be that like Shazam 2, Black Adam & Aquaman 2 their products of a dead universe. People already know Blue Beetle doesn’t matter.
It's just like James Gunn said: Blue Beetle is the first movie in the new DCU, but Superman will be the first character. And if you understood that, could you explain it to me 'cause that sounds like grade-A nonsense to me!

I fucking loved Shazam 2. Worst movie I have ever seen. It's a lesson in how not to make an action film, and how to write characters that no one on earth coulsd possibly care about despite passable CGI, non-stop action, and Grace Caroline Currey in a skin-tight suit
No bro RU-vid has the best comedy because unlike these hacks in Hollywood or whatever RU-vid actually promotes some form of individualism that they haven’t completely crushed yet. (ie chris ray gun, it’s a gundam, critical drinker, e;r,jontron, mauler, reaper,Ryan long)

Swear to God this movie's only selling point is "He's Mexican!"
It’s so ironic to spend hundreds of millions of dollars to shove social commentary into these superhero movies. Like at this point we’re all aware of the terrible goings-on of the world that it would have been much more lucrative to use that money for true acts of change.
It is clear this RU-vidr's feelings were hurt. As someone who just had a truly kind and helpful hispanic man help me at the hardware store, I'd just like to say that most white people view others based on individual human interaction. I suspect that most mature people do this. It says a lot about the director that he can't.
I was bullshitting with a guy from El Salvador today that works for one of our customers. He's a solid dude. Smoked a cigar with him and his boss today.
This is an absolute lie. All you have to do is go into any social media comment section to know this isn't true. That is where y'all can be your true selves under the cloak of anonymity.
I once had a Latino say "F*ck you, buddy," to me entirely unprovoked, then he was like "Uh, wait, sorry, I didn't mean it. Do you wanna buy some weed?"
Hispanic here, most of the jokes are: Hey the family is mexican, be sure to remember it because we are going to remid you this every time and as you guessed it is mostly mexican pandering/stereotyping. None of them were funny and most of them seem pulled out of another superhero movie. As for the movie its wasn't that awful but it is generic
As a Mexican, it’s so fucking annoying seeing “Representation matters” when seeing the promos for this movie, I get it.. he’s Mexican Edit: I don’t hate that he’s Mexican but.. I hate how the movie revolved more around Mexicans than Jamie being an actual super hero 😐
I hope every " Mexican" reads this. A Mexican who doesn't want his ppl represented. Maybe they were marketing to your ppl to support it because they knew in this climate those other ppl were determined for it to fail. But on the flip side both Black Panther did great because we supported it. That is strange that y'all would let a movie that featured your ppl and culture flop like that... because they mentioned he was Mexican too many times. Especially since y'all outnumber us. Good luck seeing another Hispanic in a major lead for a while. Smh
I hate Representation, it strips away all culture, all fantasy, all escapism, because the Americans writing it don't understand one simple thing: movies, video games, and TV shows, arre not political thesis, they're escapism. So i'm right with you mate, and i'm from England. All they needed to do was just make a good character.
Reminds me of that Purge movie with the Mexican guy and his wife. The messaging in it was bizarre because Mexico is simultaneously portrayed as a paradise where everyone gets along with each other because of family... That is also a terrible hellscape that everyone in Mexico tries to escape from it by crossing the border to the US. It's unironically a Fascist sentiment where the enemy (White Americans) are always simultaneously the strongest foes in the world, but also can be easily defeated by the heroes (Hispanics). I think that's the core problem with this kind of representation. You end up accidentally portraying Wakandans as Fascists.

@@Luke101 Longer than 10 years. I recall many movies and TV shows in the early 90s. Stargate SG1- they go to Camelot and there is Excalibur in stone. Many heroes try to pull the sword from the stone and all fail. A teen girl pulls Excalibur from the stone, and she becomes the new champion of Camelot. I got endless examples. The director originally wanted to do a Bane movie (look this up he had a major boner for him and even talked about how Bane represents American interventionalism in Latin America) and holy fuck I’m so glad he didn’t
@@Slightly-Acceptable-Nerd Well, although he was in the WW sequel, as far as I can remember; his biggest connection to WW was that she killed him, I think at the end of 'Infinite Crisis'? Really, as far as I know, Lord got his start as a public relations man for the JLA when Ted Kord and Guy Gardner were on the team. It was some time after that run when it was retconned that Lord was a somewhat psychic villain, and when Ted found out, Lord shot him in the head. I can imagine that scenario being easily rewritten for the movie to center around the Beetle, where Lord and Kord are business partners, and Kord learns of Lord's malicious intentions for the Beetle, resulting in a fight where Lord supposedly kills Ted, but Ted is still able to get the Beetle away from him
@@TorridPrime217 🤔 it might have worked. However I argue Ted Kord has potential he shouldn't have died yet. Either way I didn't know these information. Thanks for sharing.
Goes to show Reaper is a fair reviewer, and not just someone who sees an easy opportunity to roast a new film. And I was anticipating that the lead character would be unbearably obnoxious since the actor himself is (so kudos on his acting ability if he doesn't come out that way on film). Of course there's no way I'm going to go watch naive, racist claptrap like this for the benefit of the mediocre film that it drags down.
Lmao what planet do you live on? There's people with degrees flipping burgers in every city in the western world. Qualifications do not guarantee a job.
there are too many people with that degree, a runnin jocke a few years back was that you could hire a homeless as a lawyer because he was guaranteed to have a law degree
the funniest thing is that this film was supposed to have a hidden "anti-racist" agenda, and it is probably the most racist representation of people of spanish speaking origin
One of the more interesting problems for BB is, it's not going anywhere. There's no plan, no sequel, no impact. They might pair him up with Henry Cavill and ... oh. Right. They would have to reboot the character actors... given that it's not part of the Gunn Universe/Tyrrany. They're not bringing Micheal Keaton to play Ted Kord or anything insane, so it will be put on Ice for another decade until the rights push over and they find a 'seventeen year old' in their 30s to play the Teenage character. There's even speculation they edited this down from a HBO Max series, so the padding and time-sink was very likely similar to the way they padded out Disney Obi-Wan from a 2 hour movie into a 3 hour series by padding a secondary plot to expand 1 main plot into 4 subplots, then changing the script and script writers, and moving from Anakin to Leia once the budget was cut from a Movie, into a series. Blue Beetle was always doomed, so I think they did the best they had with the material/characters/actors.
Yes, but what about the beetle creature... The movie never explained its sexuality. Is it she, he? They... Them? I am so confused. How could they overlooked such an important part of the story.... Or maybe it identifies itself now as a human. I must be very careful.
they ovbiously do not even botter to know a little about real mexican culture, ideology or problematic, they just took cheap stereotypes and actors who couldn´t or didn´t want to even practice how to pronounce a few words in spanish properly, not even the blue beetle can say properly his last name
The Post Credits Scene should have been a giant Reach ship in space, where a Reach woman, I'll say Charlotte Ross is cast for the role, for no real reason lol, says that Blue has been activated. A lanky Reach Male, I'm gonna say played by Stanley Tuchi, wearing white robes would comment on how odd that is, since it was Offline for dozens of the plants rotations around their star (years), but that now is their chance to add the marble to their collection. From a distance behind the two, a hulking Black Beetle, who would easily by played by Michael Clark Duncan, if he were alive, god rest his soul, says that it's about time Blue is online, and that it's time to enslave the worthless meat, before the scene ends. These Reach would essentially be the main 3 in Young Justice, and would play the same role. Black Beetle would obviously be the main enforcer, and Blue would have to fight against both the Reach, who would have political favor among the masses, as well as his Scarab, who is now vying hard for control. This would, unlike YJ, end up being a situation where Jaime would have to build a bond with the Scarab, like Eddie with Venom, it wouldn't just be magicked away here, it would be him Jaime actively appealing to the Scarab to turn against his people.
Yeah, worried this would happen. Pretty sure that Ted Kord never had a latino wife, or any wife in the comics - Jaimie has quite a different supporting cast. I feel they should have added some other minor superhero kids as his supporting cast and made this less of a diversity-fest. And btw, why is Jaimie pronounced as Hi-mee? Is that spanish? Ted Kord's evil sister is probably also not in the comics. And I wish we could have gotten the Reach or at least one of their scouts as the villains, not this boring Carapax guy. EDIT: Yep, checked, none of these characters exist in the comics. Also, Conrad Carapax is so much cooler in the comics, being a guy who died and whose mind was accidentally uploaded into a robot made by Kord's dad.
When I tried to critique this movie online, the first question that was asked of me was if I was Hispanic which I don’t see how that has anything to do with criticizing the movie.
Hatdn't heard of this. This looks pretty high budget. Cool that indie studios are breaking in to superhero stuff. Sure am sick of Marvel's stuff. Wish they maybe did something creative with the formula, but I guess we'll take what we can get. Shame it sounds like they kept the Disney social alchemy, I'd have checked it out if just to support another studio if it weren't for that.
I’ve got it very slight above terrible the themes were respectable but not without issues. The world building was extremely questionable in a lot of aspects important parts that needed context were never touched on at all. Rudy as a character was just polarizing but almost entirely bad. The stakes were honestly much higher than I’d considered as I’m thinking on it now.
Besides the bullshit politics the movie is basically Ant-Man: Main character gets a job - loses the job - gets a tech suit that makes him a superhero - he doesn't know how to use the suit until later - allies with the daughter of the original superhero - Fight the evil corporation that want to make copies of the "superhero" suit to make an army - the antagonist is average at best.
So basically because it calls out COMMON ISSUES AND CRITICISMS from a minority's perspective living in America...you find it "mediocre"?!?! The film is mediocre but for none of those reasons. Why dont your bunch, who keep making the same video over and over again, just say what you want to say: "I only want to see films with white leads! Minorities can exist, but only if they are sprinkled in the BACKGROUND and they make no mention of their own unique perspectives, hardships or experiences. Keep them in non-impactful roles, that dont hurt our feelings, upstage us, criticize us or threaten our dominance and monopoly and keep yt men at the forefront. I LOVE lies, feed me more! "
But this movie's characters aren't from any minority culture that exists on Earth. Instead they are an amalgamation of many cultures and acting as though they are a valid representation of any single one is just foolish.
@@J__T America is an amalgamation of many cultures!!!!! And aren't most Hollywood stories an amalgamation of different tropes and stereotypes....try harder. You are basically making my point. It is ok for a certain group of people to continue to be portrayed as the good guys and everyone else portrayed like villains and criminals. But if it is flipped now there is "an agenda"...... So there was no agenda to portray B ppl as criminal and societal degenerates?!? There was no agenda to portray the Chinese as the enemy to Americans? There was no agenda to portray Arabs and Indian ( basically anyone with a head wrap) as a su1c1de bomber? Whenever there is a minority lead cast in a superhero film or TV show it is met with a heavy criticism (black panther, little mermaid, Ms marvel, blue beetle, etc)..I am calling bs! To be fair, I worked with a Jaime for over a year, and freaking NO ONE got his name right. People who saw him regularly would butcher it, over and over again. I worked with others who had "foreign names" so it wasn't that--it's like this one name just confuses the hell out of any non-Spanish speakers.
The movie was good imo, it was better than most marvel films in phase 4, Shazam 2 (that is underrated), Black Adam and Flash. Of course there is some ideology in the movie but it didn't mess with the story that is trying to promote the importance of the figure of the father to a family, the family group as a whole in good and bad moments of our lives.
I went with my son last night, I promised him we would go, my brother and I were furious, its like studios don't even try to understand their audience. They had a mixture of every Hispanic/Latino culture and they just said it was Mexican lmao Salsa is not Mexican, Reggaeton is not Mexican, not every Mexican praises the Virgin Mary with a ton of candles, I can go on and on with the BS but besides them doing that, again its another woman empowerment movie, Blue Beetle fights like 3 times the rest is the women acting tough, the main bad guy is the WOMAN, the Beetle gets saved by a WOMAN, enough of this shiiii already.
