I'm no musician, but it's precisely because of their master musicianship and genre-defying sound that I have loved Blue Rodeo since first hearing them in 1989. I wonder if it makes any sense that the very same can be said of my love for Rush. Whereas I've been to around 8 Rush concerts, I've been to well over 16 Blue Rodeo concerts, including this one, which was at Canada's version of the Royal Albert Hall, Massey Hall, a couple of months ago.

A little about the musicians: - From day 1, the band has included singing and songwriting partners Jim Cuddy (the eternally youthful and handsome one) and Greg Keelor (the bearded one), although my selections here betray some preference for the latter - in addition to the champion of the rhythm section for over four decades, Basil Donovan. Drummer Glen Milchem possesses the next longest tenure, at over three decades (joined in 1992). Keyboards and accordions have been the preserve of Mike Boguski since 2008. Next up is the fellow with the telecaster (and more), Colin Cripps. He came on in 2012, after Greg had undergone treatment for potentially career-wrecking hearing loss. After that, he apparently had to give up his electric guitar, so they brought on Colin. The new guy, Jimmy Bowskill, first started working with Blue Rodeo on a couple of songs released with their 2016 album. By the time the next album came out (2021), he had become a full member of the band. He's responsible for pedal steel guitar, some mandolin parts (including the one you raved about), as well as the rhythm and lead guitar on various songs. He replaced Bob Egan, who enjoyed a 16-year run with the band before retiring for a career in music and public policy at the municipal level. Jimmy's but one of many examples of younger Canadian musicians who have received Blue Rodeo's stolid support over the years - reflecting their unshakable commitment to the future of Canadian music.

A new band for me I got off the express subway and took local so I could listen fully Incredible band Being Canadian I can only imagine their biggest influence was The Band I loved the Americana movement from 90s I’m thinks Calexico , Howe Gelb , Wilco , Son Volt etc But as I was listening I kept on Thinking of 2 artist in particular Lucian Williams ( because she had a song of same name ) and her instrumentation would fit her so well Mekons later stuff and of course had fold leaning Thank You for introducing me to new music

This song is always a little tough for me to hear (as well as a handful of others by Blue Rodeo), because it takes me back to the devotion my late wife and I shared to this band. I saw them live for the first time in 1991, just a month before I met her, and I relied very heavily on their music as I tried to grapple with her sudden loss in 2005 (while later simultaneously courting my current wife, whom I married in 2006). She's a good sport on Blue Rodeo, just as long as I buy an equal amount of tickets to see Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, etc. in a year as I do for Blue Rodeo (usually at least twice a year!).

I've really enjoyed this Blue Rodeo marathon, except for this last one mostly due to the poor sound quality. Also, given all the great material they have, picking one of their weaker tracks is kind of an odd choice. Still some Blue Rodeo is better than no Blue Rodeo. Really enjoy your channel.
