SUPERCHARGED BLUEGRASS, FULL OF JOY AND MUSICAL SURPRISES! 720p-HD
“You want it?” “No? I’ll take it” “Wow, great job!” Spoken and unspoken expressions of delight and exhilaration - watch the eyes and smiles. You’ll get caught up in the sound and sights.
This is a very special Jam. It builds on the great talents of veteran core musicians Jack Lewis, Phil Gregory, Bill Miller, and Russ White, and is boosted by the magnificent fiddle sounds of Dr. Natalie Hall and Jason VanSteenwyk as well as other pickers listed below.
After the basic Jam had ended, several of the pickers hung around for another tune or two. I selected several. I call your attention to the highly skilled finger picking of Jon Garon, who owns “My Favorite Guitars” in The Villages, Florida. Interestingly, he is playing a 1967 Martin D-28 (not for sale).
The new pickers are very much appreciated, as are those who traveled considerable distances to attend the Ocoee Jam. For example Ken Niefeld (Pinellas Bluegrass) came from the Tampa area.
Jam sessions are for players to interact with other players and make music in a freewheeling environment, without having to be concerned about performing for an audience. Some jams are impromptu, one-time occurrences, while others are weekly events that may happen in a private setting or in a public venue. Jams may focus on a particular style of music or even a particular instrument, and every jam has its own culture and etiquette.
As you watch THE OCOEE JAM, keep in mind this is an OPEN jam. It is not a rehearsed performance. Each picker, in turn, chooses a tune, and he or she sings or plays it accompanied by all the other pickers. Everyone gets a chance no matter the skill level. It seemed that this Jam was composed mostly of experienced pickers. The Jam meets every Friday evening at 6:30 in the parking lot behind the Pizza Hut at 10870 West Colonial Dr., Ocoee, Florida 34761.
PICKERS:
Jack Lewis - banjo, vocals
Phil Gregory - guitar, vocals

Natalie plays with a lot of regard for her fellow pickers and doesn't try to steal the show. If you watch her body language you'll see the cues she gives to others to share the lead. Each picker adds their own special ingredient to the total recipe. This was a fine jam indeed. Glad you enjoyed it and shared your thoughts.

Hello Willian. Direction, I'm glad to see Jack work his way back. He's been out for a long time with a severe bout of the flu. It laid him low and affected his voice too. Thanks for your well wishes, and all the best to you.

Hi Stranger, hope things are well with you and the family. A fantastic jam, good fiddle playing the trumpet was a good mix I never saw that coming, what's with the coats was it that cold. Take care God bless.

@vivatones66 7 лет назад
Hello Friend, yep the cold was close to gum chattering. I brought gloves. Fell asleep in the car with the heat on when I got home. Probably old age. I'd brave a Florida blizzard for a good bluegrass jam. Thanks for touching base, Dave.

Hello Doug. I was astonished to see a trumpet at a bluegrass jam. It's an open jam, and John really made a contribution - good horn man. Thanks for the post.
