BMPCC + Zhiyun Crane 3S vibration fix properly 

I wish I knew about these techniques. This video is 3 years old from my comment and it’s still relevant. This insight is applicable to just about any camera you put on the crane 3s and it’s still a great gimbal

This video made my setup working without tremble. As in my case, last tuned axis wasn't correctly adjusted. After fixing that, everything works like a charm! 🎉😎

To be fair I would’ve love to see a full rig bmpcc with the v-mount battery because canon battery can’t last 15 minutes shooting with this camera. Zhiyun mentions that this stabilizer can carry a lot so let’s see the maximum potential of the stabilizer.

With my BMPCC I don't get any vibrations, but in under sling mode the pans aren't smooth, it's like the roll motor (that become the pan motor in under sling) doesn't;t have enough power to move smoothly, it kind of rocks back and forth. The weird thing is that it seems like the heavier I make the camera the better the smoothness... Any ideas? Do I need the power pack?

my camera is stripped down to only the cage and the baseplate, and my lens is nowhere as large as your sigma art, and it STILL vibrates like crazy (yes, i've tried all motor strengths), as well as started randomly going into sleep mode. I guess i got a bad apple.

I own this gimbal and I think it's a bit heavy. I don't why, but time to time suddenly starts vibrating for a few seconds. I'm sure it's balanced right cuz a spent a lot of time doing it. I use it with my 7III on low mode.

Is it possible to buy the tripod extension pole on it's own? I bought the 3S before the Pro came out and could really use the extra length from that pole.

The vibrations are mostly while suitcase mode, camera downwards, I think increasing power of the motors was a solution.

Sorry but this reminded me to apple bending problems... this gimbal is not good. I have the crane 3s pro and i tried everything and it vibrates even with the batterie pack. Tried different cams and different setups. Used movi, ronin, crane 2 before all fine but this one is a fail. Sending it back.

Do you have to add the camera and balance the gimble prior to updating firmware. How do you properly connect the camera/

Is it possible to control the BMPCC4K through the gimbal and if so what “camera” option would I pick. I tested it out with my Canon 5D Markiii and was able to set the iso, f stop, etc through the smart handle.

Thanks for the video, greatly appreciated the info. Does the base plate you added assist with balancing the bmpcc4k on the first balance you did with the camera facing upwards? I have exactly the same setup as you without the baseplate and noticed that I couldn’t balance the camera facing upwards, I ran out of movement on the crane but I can see how adding the baseplate would shift the weight more to the top side of the camera and achieve the balance.

Great tip using the POV mode for low shot but am I able to "turn off" the roll axis? Its difficult to the smooth low obit shot and at the same time keeping the horizon level

Hello Marcel! I use a BMPCC 6k with Battery-Grip (original BM), cause I like it compact! Did it works with the Grip in combination with the Smallrig also? I try it in a Shop and the vibration was crazy!!!! Maybe the salesman don't balance it well?? I also hear Zhiyun make a Firmware-update??? So I am not sure to buy this one, cause I must pay 1200€ in Austria.........

Are you saying the bmpcc4k with Sigma 18-35 won't work properly on this gimbal if you keep the cage on? Taking the cage on and off is a pain in the ass while on a shoot. I only got this mainly because of the payload it purports it can handle

Hi. My 3s with my Blackmagic pocket 6k, Samyang Lens and Tilta Focus Motor shake while walking also if perfectly balanced and with an auto calibrated motor strength. No motor vibrations but a big shaking while walking. I also tried to use it upside-down. Nothing changes. Any suggestions?

I upgraded from the Crane 2 because based on the main selling point of this gimbal-payload capacity. Right out of the gate you negated that benefit indicating that I have to use the camera naked. What is the point of buying this gimbal then? I spent years in marketing, so I get it. (I once had to do a nationwide apology tour for a learning platform that lost every students homework scores mid semester) The BMPCC cameras are blowing up and Zhiyun doesn't want to miss out on the revenue, but the right thing to do is to just say that the Crane 3 is NOT compatible with the BMPCC 4k/6K. The most compelling explanation I've seen is that the width of the BMPCC places the camera's center of gravity too far out on the X axis. Don't know if that can be addressed with a firmware update. I bought a half cage to see if that helps, if not ,this gimbal is headed back to B&H.

Do you make your own settings as well thai you can share? How to put it in sleep mode? How to use the external battery? Can the video transmitter work to other devices than wifi network?

Did you use a lens support because the adaptor makes the lens move a little or because the lens is too long?

I just purchased the 3s pro and finally gotten it balanced. (I hadn't totally rigged it out yet just wanted to see if I could get it balanced) However, whe I turned it on it was doing the shakes (I don't know why) tomorrow I will update the firmware and balance again and see what happens. Btw I have the BMPCC6K with the tilta full cage, T5 SSD and the wireless transmission on it.

This did not completely fix the vibration issue. It went from vibrating at a 10 constantly to about a 4 in any position other than the default position. These motors definitely were not tested properly before this products release. And the motors should be able to perform flawlessly in any mode. You should not have to compromise by flipping the gimbal upside down just to do low orbits. Sorry but thats an excuse for faulty motors. If you're just trying to help then I apologize but if you work for Zhiyun then this is just a bunch of tips (not fixes) to deal with the shitty motors...

If you want to waste time on your shoots, buy this gimbal. If you want a frustrating time setting up for your shoots, this is definitely for you. This whole video shows that the Zhiyun Crane 3s doesn't just work! I've had mine for a year and watched all these videos, balanced, rebalanced, recalibrated blah blah and none of these solutions are 100%. No firmware updates have resolved any of this. Still vibrates and constantly messes up good shots. So many videos on RU-vid with people complaining about this, this product just has poor programming period. Also the software is poor, half of it is a social media app, only God knows why. Mine Zhiyun Crane 3s is for sale for 1/3 of the price and I will be lucky to even get that. Waste of time and money! Get a Ronin RS2, same price, you pick it up and it works, none of this crap. Don't support companies who make crap and fail to listen to their customers when they are clearly aware their products have major issues.
