If you have a faulty key fob / remote key on an E series / F series BMW (CAS key) or a Mini R56 with a non working key - not operating the central locking then you may have a button (Microswitch) that needs replacing or a dead battery - these batteries are 'self charging' through the ignition switch & charge whilst driving, however they don't last forever & eventually fail & they are not easily replaceable as they are the soldered directly onto the remote control circuit board & are enclosed in a molded case.
Here we show how to open the remote case & replace & test the batteries & microswitches on various types of BMW keys, from early 'Diamond' keys, E series 'Slot in the dash' CAS keys, Mini R56 keys & F series keys.
Hopefully this video will save you some money on getting your keys working again, just be careful cutting them open - watch your fingers!!
