All Blake needed is a reaction time of 0.190, which is still incredibly slow, to beat Bolt's WR. Such a wasted opportunity, followed by injuries in the subsequent years to make things even worse.
Some say if Blake had a quicker reaction time he'd have beat the world record... I disagree... Blake deliberately came out slow so he could take the pressure off running a good bend allowing him to focus more on the putting the power down in the straight (which is where he was strongest) This was actually the advice Bolt gave to Blake before the race and it worked! If Blake had tried to come out to a faster reaction time the pressure may of messed up his form and not allowed him to beast the straight... This was Blake's absolute best 200m he could of ever ran because of the reasons above... To beat Michael Johnsons 19:32 & Bolts 19:30 from Beijing in this style is simply phenomenal! However Bolts 19:19 from Berlin was unworldly and might never be surpassed...
Great performances. Bolt will have to train hard and intense to win gold in the Olympics in 2012. I predict new world records in both the 100M & 200M very exciting indeed!! Big up Jamaica you much to be proud about.
@jonesy77777 remember bolt ran four rounds of the 100m which he produce the 9.58 then he ran the 200m rounds and still was able to ran 19.19. bolt in top shape is a sub 19 without the many rounds.
that was such a bad start by Blake, he really tried hard this race. That run on the straight is extremely difficult to pull off with such stride frequency because it is a longer race, but damn 19.26
Not old, he's only 25. he is right now in the prime of his life and should be able to destroy all the competition this year. New world records, you will all see, even you Blake fanboys.
Usain, why are you giving away your secret to running the 200m? Yohan is definately gong to beat you this year. Can't wait. I have to attend the Jamaican olympic trials in July. No way this event can miss me.
9.76s into a pretty strong headwind of +1.5 m/s is simply outstanding. If there was no wind (0.0 m/s), I can easily envisage him getting close or even breaking the then Olympic record of 9.69 seconds. Now compare this to 2023, when the world leading time in the event is 9.83s, and you instantly realize the stature of Usain Bolt.
The fact that Blake needed a proper reaction time to beat bolts record just makes me think about how insane 19.19 truly is. Blake’s 19.26 is truly remarkable and should not be ignored. It pains me to see Blake being purged by injuries non stop nowadays. Although Blake could of beaten bolts record in this race, just remember that bolt ran that into a slight headwind, doesn’t mean I can downplay his run… it just means that bolt simply had a perfect race and produced an untouchable record and Blake missed an opportunity. However this doesn’t make a difference because Blake still ran stupid fast so I gotta give him props
@peepsi23 very true and thanks for pointing that out. I think the remarks by Blake after the race bring new light to the false start bolt had. Blake said they had been back and forth in practice, so Bolt knew that Blake was as quick or possibly quicker than him (at least this year), which explains his anxiety for the 100m. I think Blakes season is the best thing that could have happened to track, Bolt can no longer afford to rely on his natural talent, he MUST train and dedicate himself now.
@peepsi23 I'm not sure if I agree regarding rounds, at least for the 100m I think running rounds actually sharpens up Bolts race I mean when has he looked better than Beijing, Berlin and Daegu?
This slender *Yohan* was never the same, since he became a bodybuilder who was trying to sprint which affected his amazing speed and left injury prone for years to come....🤔
@@amooolusina6978 Wrong! When did you ever hear Bolt speak about God, before or after a race? He only performed the "sign of the cross" ritual before the start of a race. And that doesn't necessary mean he is a christian and or puts his confidence in God. Many people who aren't christians do the same. They most likey were taught to do it from childhood, by their parents who believed in catholicism. Asafa Powell is a die-hard christian. And he never demonstrated that much confidence in himself while performing on the big stage. And those of us who know Powell understand that he possessed greater potential than what he demonstrated at the bigger or more significant sprinting events. Now, I'm not saying that an athlete who is a christian does not possess confidence in himself/herself. But the fact that christians are taught to love and trust God more than themselves; that nothing good happens without God, can cause them to have less confidence in their own abilities and rely more on God. In my opinion, the success that great athletes like Usain Bolts and others have had is based on their hard efforts and strong confidence in themself (even though they may be naturally talented). Success comes through effort. God has absolutely nothing to do with it.
I'm still to be convinced that Yohan Blake can reproduced this crazy time in the 200m in London, remember it's not a one off race. The 100m in London will comprised of going the rounds were most of your energy would've sapped B4 the finals, but then again these guys are well prepared, so maybe just maybe the fire works will be spectacular. I think if you fears Bolt forget the gold , if not maybeagain just maybe his (Blake) dream could be His REALITY.
@HushHush2 I thought the same thing when I first saw it, a shorter curve or faulty timer or something, but they have to both be accurate and measured/tested correctly beforehand, then you have Blake saying he beats Bolt in training sometimes or is very close. I think Bolt should run the 200m on this track next year and see what time he gets.
wow!! Yoan!! well done!! GLEN MILLS YOU ARE THE BEST COACH EVER WE LOVE YOU ALL!! BY THE WAY COLIN AT THE BBC WATCH WHAT YOU SAY!!! WHO??IS GOING TO TAKE USAIN TIME! ARE YOU CRAZY OR SOMETHING!! NO!!ONE CAN TAKE USAINS TIME.
People,People read this & read this well, I have seen the top 5 Jamaicans Male sprinters in training over the summer & into the winter, bearing in mind that I haven't seen the rest of the worlds elites, and if what I've seen can be re-produce on the track in London this summer, OMG! expect the world records in both the 100m & 200m to be obliberated to video games status. Something is happening that is producing this effect and I'm affraid it is Yohan Blake. The rest are working their asses off !
Judging from my eyes when blake and dix came around the bend at 100m the clock on the field was at exactly 10.00 , that mean he ran the last 100m in 9.2 there or thereabout ...impressive , blake top end speed is killer, he proved it in daegu with an aweful start passing kim collins who flew away from him to win the gold medal, so 9.2 no suprise
usain is a freak what a athlete he aint arrogant he saids it with humor he set a goal for himself to be a legend and he is nothing arrogant about that usa athletes are arrogant they have no humor and blake i like him he is also a fantastic athlete well done Jamaica
I think we gonnah see 18.97s or something in the olympic and i think there is some other spriters that has 19.4 in their system, and since i am a Norwegian i hope to see 19.6s from Ndure :) That would bee cool.
Spare a thought. Usain Bolt ran well faster than this time with no wind assistance pounding his chest the last 15m on the worlds biggest stage, then did it again but even faster the next year also at 22 years old
@Just Some Gay. bolt had -0,7 wind and blake +0,7. Bolt could run 19,15 in london 2012 but he felt pain in his back and slowed down and still he ran 19,32.
@@nov3m472 well reaction is always considered so overall Bolt is still faster. The clock starts ticking from the gun, not from when the athlete starts running
@Mickeldan2 Yea I agree with your analysis! Assuming Yohan did 10 flat, then his top end was 9.26s, close to Bolt's in Berlin. When he ran 19.19 he did 9.92s and 9.27s. Michael Johnson, for his 19.32, still has the fastest top end speed. He covered the first half in 10.12s but the second half was covered in 9.20s. No matter what though, Usain Bolt ran his 19.19 just before his 23rd birthday and Yohan is almost 22. They're almost the same. Of course Bolt ran faster 100m than Blake at 22.
no, Blake was saving energy for the straight away... thats also the reason why he reacted so slow. But I do agree with you about Dix pushing him. And great time by both of them. By far the best 200m field in history
@Reformed2005 100m and 200m are separate races. no doubt, blake did well in the 200m but that does not mean he will beat bolt in the 100m because he is only averaging a sub 9.8 for the 100m
@snabelfaen remember 19.19 was done after 7 races in 4 days at the WC. Rounds for 100m then more rounds for 200m in Berlin. Calm down. Bolt running one race will destroy that time. Blake is the future though, we went to the same high school, that my dude.
@Snabelfaen I don't see Blake getting that fast (though the unexpected has happened before). I also can't see Blake crusing past Bolt without Bolt switching into max. gear, something I've only seen once. Finishing 19.19 with a comfortable lead is quite different from finishing with a challenger at your heel. Sounds cliche, but Bolt has a lot more speed in him (whether he will stay fit enough to use it at the right time is a different question).
@Reformed2005 i agree about the 100m thats why i am talking about the 200m which requires more endurance, i agree the rounds do help but it can bring a little fatigue once the conditioning of your body is not in top shape and believe it or not bolt was not in top shape for the 200m in berlin his endurance was much better in beijing. As we all saw in final his last 100m, he lost his form a bit and was starting to tie up at the end and still ran 19.19. In term of endurance he look better in china
mkay700 Bolt has so often not been considered favourite and still wrecked everybody in the end. It will be no different this time. Bolt will win all 3 golds again and in 2016 again and then retire.
@blackbot4000 If you watched this guy when he was a teenager in high school in jamaica you would have known wat he is capable of. he still holds the high school championchip record in jamaica. Americans need to research and find out why we do so well and stop speculating JUST RESEARCH AND U WILL FIND OUT. (and No he has never taken drugs. it was a nasal decongestant and it was never on the bands list.)
The gold and silver medals on the Olimpycs games already have owners!, sorry for Tyson but he have to fight for the bronze .Asafa is very strong this season too..
@@samo6083 Why do people say he has a bad start tho? I think Blake had a pretty scary start with not only that, superior endurance and top end speed that's why he kicked Tyson's ass in that 9.69 race.
Yoahn blake has a delay of reaction to blocks of at least a tenth of a second and you can see it clearly in slow motion ... Blake is the fastest man in the world on 200m, bolt the second. Although Bolt had a headwind I think he would have lost anyway since Blake in the perfect performance would have dropped even below 19.15 and in any case at most they would have equalized.
@@q12aw50Usain haters are just coping. They hate that he's the no.1 so they do anything to try to discredit him. Yohan did his thing but he'll never be Bolt. 1 singles Gold Medal😂
nope, if blake had to run 7 races in a week, was still recovering from a car accident and ran into a headwind with a lower elevation, he wouldnt even come close to bolt
Either way Bolt is still way ahead. If Bolt had a better race strategy himself, we would have definitely gone under 19 seconds. Not to mention both of his 200 WRs were into a headwind. Blake ran this race perfect minus the reaction time but Bolt is still 2 steps ahead.
I think Blake should have stayed at this weight and physique. The extra muscle he put on in the years following 2011 is probably what led to his injuries. World class sprinter at his best!!!
4x100m powell out of the blocks bec he has the best start EVER, 2nd leg michael frater strong second leg, usain bolt running the bend bec best jamaican at it and yohan blake on the anchor leg
bet if dix did run 19:26 yall would not say it's sad for track and field though...give respect to real-life superhumans..its not drugs...its the blood of the islanders
