With what Santa Workshop asked, on the Transmission pan, you can drill a hole for a drain with some washers for the bolt, so the bolt could be the plug and make your own plug

People are dumb 😂 the body filler is because it had a vinyl top on it and plastic filler shrinks especially on dark colors but if the tires are from 99 that's probably around the time it was done so that not bad at all . The new polyester type fillers are better and stretch so they don't crack so it can be redone . The floors are solid and to find a run and drive Plymouth satellite AKA roadrunner in drivable condition would be probably more than what you paid for it . I was looking at 73 Charger and it's a basket case for 8,000 so I'd say you did well on this car .
@340ozzman

I’m one of the ones that said you paid $6-8 to much. If it didn’t have hail damage , it’s worth every penny what you paid imo. But if your happy that’s all that matters. I own a 74 duster and a 67 barracuda and I know the prices for these cars are going thru the roof.. Also what you have is a 904 trans and 8 1/4 rearend. Looking forward to the other classics you might be buying.

I like that you like the cars of the year you were born but the first Gen Road Runners were definitely the best they only came with a 383 as a base engine a 73 had a 318 as a base engine. I owned both a 68 and 69 Road Runners and looked at a 70 but bought a 66 Dodge Monaco 500 with a 383 4 barrel instead after missing out on a real 68 Shelby GT 500KR convertible 428 Cobra with C6 automatic. I owned a 73 340 Cuda and yes it was a real “S” special model code ie: Cuda I would’ve loved to have had a 70-72 Cuda but they were $$$$ the 73-74 $$. The 340 was rebuilt with Morpar Direct Connect parts with 70 AAR 340 6 barrel Cuda engine parts as a starting point with a single Holly 750, it had a factory 727 automatic with big tube Hooker headers the rear end was a 1970 Cuda\Challenger 440\Hemi 323:1 Dana 60. I bought the Cuda from the 2ed owner that bought the car in 75 with 23k on it in I got in 89 with 66k on it, he built it originally for cruising Woodward in Detroit and street racing it spent some years on Daytona Beach cruising and street racing. I also had a 74 360 Cuda that I bought for the factory Magnum 500 wheels and door panels and package tray to replace the ones in my 73 that had a 70’s KMart stereo installed in the doors and back window the mostly stock 360 4barrel with exhaust manifolds was ok for a mid 70’s low HO smog motor my 77 Dodge HD 3/4 van (regular gas) and 93 Dodge Ram Charger 360 Magnum both had more HP.

Older persons car that was purchased and redone as a Road Runner then rarely driven. An $8,000 1973 Satellite, send photos. By this time insurance companies and air quality peddlers choked them off. An older car like this needs a motor oil with zinc in it to protect the cam, lifters etc. Zinc will ruin the catalytic converters on newer vehicles which is why it was removed from motor oil. You can use a zinc additive or get some racing motor oil which still has the zinc in it.
@GamingMaster007
@GamingMaster007 2 года назад
@Dmetsys Zinc is good for motors with flat tappet cams cause the lifter spins on the cam. the zinc acts as a protective sacrifice layer to protect the cam and lifter

When I was in High School in 88 my grandfather died and left me his 73 dart 318. I worked at a gas station and all my wealthier classmates came in with they’re Irocs and 5.0s. I saved up a lil cash maybe $1500 and was hitting up local junkyards every week determined to blow the doors off my classmates.Persistence paid off when one week a junkyard owner had Demon top end, heads, intake and thermal quad, along with 3:90 gears, after seeing me there every week looking have gave me the whole lot for $300. I took the heads into auto shop and my teacher told me everything to buy, new valves , springs etc. Then he taught me about porting and polishing, he also didn’t like the rich kids coming into shop installing bass tubes in they’re Irocs much either.So I called Direct Connection and they set me up with a new cam lifters and main bearings and high volume oil pump, the top of my pistons looked better then yours.. Found a good deal on a 7qt oil pan and headers, also tires and rims from a wrecked Duster.After it was finished, and my shop teacher helped me tune it, I took it to street night at the local track..Low 13s every pass, needless to say after a week I learned about rebuilding a transmission. Ended up wrecking the Dart, put the motor in a 4 door Cornet, drove that for years till the frame rotted, then put it in a 78 remcharger and used it to plow, until that rotted. Now 35yrs later my son put new bearings and an oil pump and put it in a 78 Warlock. Motor prob has 250k miles without changing anything but about 8 of those dam dodge starters

I still own my '73 340 Plymouth Roadrunner bought new in 1973 in Bellevue Washington. Strip and replate the chrome front & rear bumpers and leave the headlight bezels/ surrounds in their natural state. The monochromic paint scheme. I believe you have the small A904 transmission and the smaller rear end. The 8 3/4 rear-end has a dropout 3rd member with no removable inspection plate. Roadrunners all had rear windows that were not able to be lowered. Also, base-level Roadrunners have 318 2 bbl drive trains that have the smaller rear-ends and transmissions.

Thats a great RR replica project. Keep the bezel stainless/chrome or it will look cheap. Unless you plan to properly paint back to the orig green (not maaco) just leave paint as is to maximize return $.

Man... no wonder they were picking all the bezels off this thing.. $$$$$$, looks very nice, can't wait to see it with the right hood and hail damage fixed. 👍

Very clean brother after you get the new wheels and Santa workshop gets your headlight bevel paint it up, make sure you get those windows tinted.

Hey Randy, Glad The Purple People Eater turned out to be a very solid car! Geez! after the Scamp you needed some good luck! That car is a solid driver! I would fix all the little stuff like you are doing and enjoy the heck out of it! Its cool enough to turn heads but, not so nice and valuable that you have to seal it in a vault to protect your investment. Enjoy your time with her! My favorite car on your channel is the 57 Plymouth... Do you still have it? My dad bought one new in 57 and I've always wanted one. Good luck with the channel!

"Santa" is one awesome guy, seems real knowledgeable and a super loyal friend. Just wish his channel would move a little quicker on the projects. Love his El Camino project but it's taking to long for me to really get invested and subscribe up to the channel.

Put the Roadrunner hood on it Randy. It would look much better than the flat hood. The hood is what made the 72 -74's standout!

Great car! Amazing how clean and solid it is. Please leave those rare bezels the way they are. No more black. I hope you get the right shackles. Would look so much better. The price you paid is right on the money for such a clean example. Score!! 👍🏻

When I bought my second Mopar B body, it had the exact same shackles and air shocks. Also, the aftermarket chrome slot rear wheels had so much front spacing, they would have rubbed the fenders if the car was NOT jacked up. It handled like the 73 Fury in Thunderbolt and Lightfoot. First thing I did was I took them off and took them to the muffler shop and had them chop off the extra length. With a torch. It looked better, but the torch cut ragged edge could still be seen if you knew where to look.

I like the looks of the old slots myself.
