What length screw is it that adjusts the tension?

Nice video. Can you talk about the load/unload function in a another video? I heard that this feature doesnt work anymore when upgraded to bondtech because of the e steps. And please show the quick release of the extruder :)

If that doesn't work then the Bondtech is a downgrade! The load/unload future is probable one of the best parts about this printer. I've never been able to change filament so easy.

May I ask, I'm thinking of a Mini Plus as first 3D printer. I have a question for which I cant seem to find a clear answer online after a lot of Googling... I have in mind a project that would require nylon parts, though I will first need some time to learn the design software and slicing software, working with PLA and PETG and perhaps ABS until I can get good results (which should be easier with the Prusa Mini+ than other printers)... but I want my first printer to be capable of nylon with carbon fibre filaments (perhaps with hotend upgrade to cope with the abrasiveness of carbon fibre). Will the mini plus be able to print nylon and what upgrades would it ideally need? Thanks in advance. BTW, I'm planning to make an Ikea enclosure with fan and filter.
@AMakeDesigns
@AMakeDesigns 2 года назад
The spec sheet reports it is ready for nylon. Max hotend temp is 280C. For carbon fibre you will need a hardened nozzle to cope with abrasiveness. Welcome to the club! 😀

@@AMakeDesigns Many thanks, I'm blown away with the new materials and the low cost and capability of these printers compared to only 5-10 years ago. Can't wait to jump in! Nice channel by the way!

@@AMakeDesigns Well, I purchased the IFS version for my Mini+ and installed it without issues. First day was silent and I was thrilled. Now I'm getting a small, but clearly audible "yelp" type squeak on retraction it seems. Is yours still silent after long term use? I'm stumped. Nothing obvious seems wrong.

I hear no noise. Did you try loosening the idler?
@tomhollett
@tomhollett 3 года назад
@@AMakeDesigns I did, but I will continue to try to adjust in small increments and see if I can work it out. It's still far less noisy than the stock extruder, but sure hope I can find the sweet spot I apparently had on the first day of install as it was beautifully quiet. Thanks for responding and sharing your experience. If I find anything helpful out, I will report back for others benefit.

@@AMakeDesigns they say some filament junk gets clogged in the extruder?.. im considering a prusa mini as my first 3d printer.. its seem getting a printer is better than having to wait and pay for some1 else to do the print only to realize you need to revise and reprint again.. 3d printer are kinda practical to have at home..

I only had problems with flexibles. You need to tweak the idler tension carefully. Overall it's not bad, it's not excellent either... I would say the Bondtech is a valuable upgrade.

Fyi its not hard to tell how much tension you should put on the original extruder, its even in the manual. The tension screw should be flush or max 1mm below the surface if filament is loaded ;)

It solved all my jamming problems. The stock extruder is too sensitive to my taste. It is too reliant on the idler tension. Is it a mandatory upgrade? Absolutely not, but if you have troubles setting the extruder this will help a lot.

Hi, I have tried many times to understand why there is this veneration for Prusa printers, I honestly do not understand ... for example the original extruder from the mini is very very bad , yet people spend more than 400 euros for a printer that even under the aspect of mechanical profile is disappointing. About the original extruder it would be acceptable if it were the result of a home made design by a private individual... but to think that it is the result of a company, whose printers (built with Chinese hardware) cost 2-4 times more than a Chinese one ... .....go to understand people. Any extruder I have found in Chinese printers (even the worst) is superior to the original prusa mini
@AMakeDesigns
@AMakeDesigns 3 года назад
Well, Prusa's business proposition is around service, tech support and end-to-end ecosystem, they know they will always be more expensive than China. I don't love or hate them, but I liked the Mini experience out of the box. No bed levelling, I just start it and leave, contrary to my Ender that requires supervision for the first layer or two. To be fair we have to say that Ender-3 stock extruder is junk, at least the original plastic one: it wears off, breaks around the insert, loses force over time.
@raider1284
@raider1284 3 года назад
you have got to be kidding me with that last statement.. So you think the insanely terribly stock plastic ender 3 extruder is better then the prusa mini extruder? All printer gear from basically every company in the world is made in china with "chinese hardware"... that doesnt make them bad. The prusa mini is incredible for the price, and you can get clones for less then an ender 3 pro which makes it a no-brainer.
@ultrabeamitaly1
@ultrabeamitaly1 3 года назад
@@raider1284 in fact, by now all the world production of hardware and electronics is produced in China (then of course there are also quality products) Prusa assembles in Europe but most of the components are Chinese. What I meant is ... that sometimes myths are created that are not in reality. In people's minds the idea that all plastic parts are produced by the same Prusa printers is a nice thing, please don't joke !!!! the quality of plastic components manufactured by injection molds is considerably superior, from all points of view !!! Regarding the bondtech extruder, here too a myth is created ... you can get the same type of mechanics by spending much much less (it.aliexpress.com/item/1005001431887581.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.65652caaL3MJkQ&algo_pvid= 69d041f9-f8c5-4a66-ae5d-8870b99becdc & algo_expid = 69d041f9-f8c5-4a66-ae5d-8870b99becdc-9 & btsid = 2100bdec16069784779974377e9ab2 & ws_ab_201_test0, searchweb3) . An example on ender3 but you can mount it on any printer ... including the prusa mini :-) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QnrH2Sk7y40.html

@@ultrabeamitaly1 that linked extruder is nowhere close to as good as a bondtech or prusa extruder. Why do you think it's better? It has much worse filament path and doesn't have a 3:1 gear ratio like the bondtech and prusa extruders have.
@ultrabeamitaly1
@ultrabeamitaly1 3 года назад
@@raider1284 I refer only to the mechanical system drag , prusa better ??? do not joke, in the prusa extruder the filament is squeezed between a knurled pulley and a (flat) bearing without a groove :-( very bad mechanical solution to drag a plastic wire, why don't you see this ? In the extruder that I have indicated, the yarn passes between two knurled grooves both connected to the motor, this is a mechanically superior drag condition, about 3.1 ratio for me insignificant, my printers have extruders with 1.1 ratio and works fine About the extruder path is straight, so no problem :-)
