Really puts into perspective that mission in Borderlands 2 where Claptrap is threatening to end Jack personally. "YOU HEAR ME, JACK?! You killed my friends! You destroyed my product line!! I am that last CL4P-TP in existence, and I AM GOING TO TEABAG YOUR CORPSE!!!!" We all thought it was supposed to be humor, but Clappy's got a serious bone to pick with jack, and now we know why.
@@famoterlhh4993 If you killed him it wouldn't have stopped the other ones, that's why they stuck him with that thing. You voided his warranty by shooting him so Hyperion said they wouldn't take him back and that's why you were stuck with him.
Athena is the one person who acknowledged what she did was wrong and the fact she was disgusted by her own actions means she at least feels sympathy for claptrap
Athena was the only one who actually didn't hate CL4P-TP. She even hugged him in the Opening Cutscene when he turned to her. She just couldn't do anything to stop Jack from killing off FR4G-TP, because there was also Wilhelm and Nisha right there. 1v3 and she knows what they're capable of as they just worked together this whole time. Plus, needed payment before finally leaving Jack.
That is actually true,if I remember en route to Jack you had to pass a barrier through which only hyperion can pasd Guess who has a hyperion robot with a vengeance
@@nathanielmcnamara1604 How though? It was pretty clear how pissed he was that they survived. And if you're gonna argue that it was so that they'd bring Wilhelm's fake core to sanctuary and shutdown the shields, that just feels too convoluted. That seemed more like Jack simply making the best out of the situation.
@@michaelbecket4901 yeah! After this whole fiasco, i kinda wondered if Clap's gonna get another DLC and have his fragtrap system kick back in... Maybe Shadowtrap could have another Appearance?
The tears didn't start rolling until it was shown that it was Shadowtrap who was responsible for the survival of our Claptrap. Reminded me of something I read in psychology about how we must have the capacity to bear evil, even if we keep it repressed.
@@michaelbecket4901 Shadowtrap wanted to purge all humans but he's only like that because he's the manifestation of Claptrap's suppressed rage from all the abuse he's put up with and Shadowtrap turned out to be right that Jack would betray them
Well, when you say from the start that you hate all claptrap units and that you want to destroy them all, it's not really betrayal when you do it later.
When I played this DLC for the first time I was the Claptrap of the group, my friends of course were Wel and Nash. When I saw all the clap traps died, my friends laughed when they saw this but me. . . I was legit sad. We play this game together as a team to the very end beating the Vault boss. I felt so betrayed and sad getting shot point blank. I felt empty. .
I think claptrap IS and will ALWAYS be annoying...BUT i cant lie he's one of the stand out characters and pandora would be less fun without him. Same rule applies to Jack.
Claptrap didn't die, fragtrap died. Lmao. Which took away his stair climbing wheel and the ability to wield weapons. Which was his vaulthunter.exe program or shadow trap.
This was such a damn good DLC. I felt genuinely awful watching the vault hunters celebrate Claptrap's ostensible death and the genocide of his kindred machine.
Shadowtrap: "Fine. Then you die, regardless of what happens here." He knew Claptrap was gonna be killed by Jack, and he had an inkling that the Vault Hunters would defeat him. He used to last of his power/code/whatever to give Claptrap life again. Shadowtrap wasn't so bad after all. He just had a bone to pick with Jack, the Vault Hunters and everyone else who used Claptrap for gain.
Ehh i wouldn't go that far to say he's super important, he was useful here and there but i wouldnt say he is vital, still just another annoying mascot character i could do without
@@RoseScar he helped save an entire planet which by default is MORE than what we could say about any of the other 'heroes' in this series thus far he also helps us with gun capacity upgrades in 1 which ALSO felt like the most useful thing anyone done for us in that game and in 2 he outright is the sole REASON we beat jack to begin with hes had a pretty major role in 2 games plus an EXTREMELY useful one in 1 which is FAR more than I could say for those sirens people in game keep treating as the most important part of these games DESPITE the fact that they led to nothing but trouble for ALL our characters
This is the single best (and saddest) scene in the entire Borderlands saga. And the fact that they used Monteverdi's "Lamento della ninfa" in the background made it so much more heartbreaking.
What about loaderbots sacrifice in takes from the borderlands? That tops this one purely because it was a sacrifice but that shouldn't take anything away from this.
I'm all for team claptrap.... Dude did go nuts and try to kill everyone though hahaha nah fair point, I guess I'm just a sucker for a loyal sacrifice, and loaderbot was such a cool dude that he overrode his basic programming to help you. Man they write some good non human characters. Claptrap, loaderbot, Axton's turret, talking guns.
Under the guidance of gearbox people. Thus the canon. Thank god they are revisiting some of that stuff, I was really hoping for a second TFTB. Such an important part of the borderlands story.
Even though this is super sad, I think this is better for claptrap when you think about it. He isn't shackled by any manufacturer now, hes now his own being. He basically gained actual sentience. He's free, and that's beautiful, free to annoy anyone he so pleases.
"You hear me jack, you killed my friends, you destroyed my product line. I am the last claptrap in existence and I am going to T-BAG YOUR CORPSE!!!!" - Claptrap
"This is the end, Vault Hunter. Either you kill Jack, or I'll kill him for you. What's it gonna be?" Lilith to you after defeating The Warrior in Borderlands 2
I’m really, REALLY hoping that Claptrap gets his abilities back in 3. Yes, the Claptraps weren’t the BEST part of the series, but not even they deserved this. And this game proved that a Claptrap COULD be a badass Vault Hunter with the right gear. Due to whatever is happening in 3, the heroes need ALL of the help they can get. If that means going through s bunch of trash to find a stair-climbing wheel, uploading Claptrap’s Vault Hunter protocols, and enduring his inability to stop talking, so be it.
You could even feel his confusion and sadness in his words. That was probably the most evil thing Jack has done. He helped Jack, only for Jack to shoot him. He didn't screw up, he helped better than most of the damn loaders.
Claptrap is fricking awesome! Also who can hate him?he is a goofy loveable character that a lot more people should appreciate more rather then being seen as a mistake that's not important
|Enderborn| what about high fives? I love claptrap so much i always wanted to be one of them and activate pirate ship mode if jack will be in borderlands 3 and they will let us to play as claptrap jack will be dead in a second 😈
@@nineonmyshirt you sure love not taking jokes do you stupid adults these days when someone says this is sad but sadly you burst in and say they are a drama queen get a life
He's Maybe Annoying,Maybe Frustrating,And He's Maybe Loud, But He Saved Us All,But His Award Was Death,Madness,No Mercy. Good Thing Shadowtrap And Hammerlock Made Him Alive.
Yeah. He may be annoying and talkative, but not exactly the worst. He's just a guy seeking to be funny and helpful despite his programming flaws that one of the Hyperion founders tried to fix
@@granmastersword Hopefully Clappy will be made whole one day and actually prove how useful he can be if he can get his abilities back. Maybe he'd actually get people to show up to his birthday for once other then the main character.
Huh. I always wondered why even the Vault Hunters from Borderlands 2 hate Claptrap. They're not so different, after all. Nearly murdered in cold blood by Jack under the guise that they would be saving everyone, and left to die in the frozen wastes, along with the bodies of their comrades. Tragic stuff, really. Oh well. I guess that explains how he damaged his internal processor and gave him the robot version of ADHD.
Wait, i've never heard of Maya, nor Axton, nor Zero, nor Salvador, nor Gaige and nor Krieg ever saying or expressing something hateful about Claptrap. Care to explain?
Ismael Párica Gaige is probably the only one who might not hate him, and that's only because she's into robotic shit. The borderlands 1 characters hate him after the whole interplanetary assassin situation and I bet the guys from 2 hate him for his condescending annoying bs in the BL2 opening...
Well if claptrap dies in borderlands 3 I bet it's funeral will be this rip annoying robot you did a good job being useless helpful and annoying but you will be missed LMAO oh and loader bot will take over claptrap because loader bot is probably the last robot alive Aswel because Hyperion is destroyed so maybe a new mascot maybe a new character Aswel
Benefits to being a claptrap main 1. Fun and always unpredictable gameplay 2. Both the ultimate support and explosive expert INSTANTLY out ranking anyone else in these classes 3. CAN out rank everyone at everything with the right upgrades 4. One of the few ONLY interesting playable characters ALL of which are TPS exclusive characters 5. OP as all fuck if mastered 6. CONSTANT one liners or funny lines etc instead of the boring NEAR MUTE gameplay the other characters BESIDES TPS characters provide 7. Hes REALLY FUCKING FUN!!!!!! 8. Hes claptrap
@@maximo789hola9 not gonna disagree he IS a close second for me as well him trying to act jack and even having upgrades dedicated to what jack WOULD do is hilarious and hes a naturally fun and OP character too and has a LOT of funny stuff said in his catagories of upgrades like the butthole laser gag lol and that ONE LINE he says if u DONT shoot that one DAHL soldier I ACTUALLY felt that him and claptrap are also the 2 most tragic characters in the series lol and besides he goes through the MOST character development out of everyone in the series IN JUST 1 GAME
She murdered her mother and if Hyperion found out about her she would have gotten a lot worse than locked underground and asked to hack some stuff. Jack clearly loved his daughter and was just trying to protect her. You can argue that he went about it the wrong way but seeing your kid tear your wife apart with siren powers might cause you to overreact a little.
Jack said himself, that she couldn't control her powers. She didn't kill her on purpose and it clearly doesn't justify him using Angel, to convince some random punks in a bus to open a vault, instead of doing it himself. And then he has the nerve to take all the glory for it, rip out the Destroyer's eye and use it as a superweapon. And that's completely leaving out the fact, that he killed 4 scientists, because one of them MIGHT be a spy and didn't just have them interrogated. I also remember Moxxi saying in Borderlands 2, that "before Handsome Jack burned down the village, that he seemed like a nice man". That must have happened before she broke up with Jack and with that, before Pre Sequel.
1:56 I was actually laughing my ass off with a big grin on my face until I rewatched it and saw this sad little guy drawing Jack. Like a kid would draw someone he idolizes. It was actually really sad.
Late comment, and sorry to pop your bubble, but this is a guy from a side-quest with Nakamura, the guy who trips on some stairs and dies in the Borderlands 2 DLC. He asks you to have a claptrap draw Jack- this is likely that same unit.
I find Claptrap to be one of the most intricate characters in the Borderlands series, for one reason; his story is woven through all three of the Borderlands shooters. You ever wonder what happened to Interplanetary Ninja Assassin Claptrap from the Robot uprising DLC from the first Borderlands after you reset him and wipe his personality? This very video and multiple other clues throughout the games have given you the answer. Our very own Claptrap was once the villain of his own DLC, and at the time of his final battle as INAC, looked almost identical to the Pre-sequel's 'shadow-self'
Claptrap has only ever loved everyone on the team trying to be supportive and doing his best to protect his friends and what do they do even during the beginning after being betrayed he's not able to express his deep loneliness and depression working for jack still out of fear of death claptrap may call you minion because of his ability's from the past who he showed some much happiness when in contact with so in the beginning of borderlands 2 when he finds you he's having you do the same things as the minion he could spawn in which is fighting for him but also has you as valuable as his old teammates showing as best he can to be friends with you but can't express properly since he's stuck at the factory default voice of excitement and joy. in short claptrap really does want to help you and be as useful as he can to you. Claptrap has been through a lot and is trying to do his best for everyone he cares for
Man moments like these show how much affection you have even for the most annoying characters in Borderlands in the end you love them all poor wheelboy he doesn't deserved this
I take it that Jack was the only person who knew about the Claptrap uprising from the original and figured it might be a good idea to avoid a sequel in the future...
Claptrap is a real friend. Making an igloo his home in the tundra and having the bodies of all the dead claptrap robots as foundation for it. You can also see evidence that he tried to bring some of them back but it didn't work. He also scrapped some of them, to use as parts. He's the last of his kind and I hope to god we get to find a claptrap unit for him in borderlands 3, or at least some awesome new robot that he can fall in love with.
Technically yeah, he was their best CL4P-TP. He became the INAC in Borderlands 1. (Interplanetary Ninja Assassin Claptrap) He was FR4G-TP in the Pre-Sequel (thus our lil friend Clappy is technically a Vault Hunter, too. I hope he gets an upgrade/fixed by Gaige possibly? To be able to fight again.) So, in the history of Borderlands, he was both a Villain and Ally.
Guess that's why they were on such good terms with Jack, because they were jackasses themselves. To just laugh at comrade's death like that even though they were fighting back to back and Claptrap was willing to give his life for them is disgustingly cruel.
I don't know why everyone in this game hates claptrap so much, he is always trying to help, that's what counts for me, this scene was very sad, and I hope Shadow trap personality which seems to be inside the last claptrap makes him a little more confident. I love you Clappy!
@@mememaster6748lack luster vault hunters. Aurelia and Doppelgängers “closure” was limited to mediocre dlcs in B3, and Wilhelm and Nisha were just unlikeable. Athena and Claptrap are the only 2 characters that actually have proper conclusions and had substance
So wait, does the mean not only did Claptrap lose the ability to use stairs, but also lost his VaultHunter.EXE!? I loved that ability, I was hoping for claptrap to have in Borderlands 2, but wow, thats just even sadder now..
I hope they bring back the product line for the next Borderlands, it's really cool to see different Claptraps with different personalities. My favorite is the Masochistic CL4PTP from the first Borderlands.
Jesse12489 True, they would've never made it past the Death Wall to reach the BNK-3R. Much less make it into Hero's Pass. Also wouldn't have gotten out of the first area he meets you in. Sure the path is linear, but storyline wise, CL4P-TP knew the area quite well from being there for so long. While the Vault Hunters would've been stranded and possibly lost. Without a weapon, might I add.
Honestly this is the potential borderlands could have storywise if it’s pulled off well...and this is pulled off perfectly! Edit:the reasoning is because of the fact you get to see what happened that led to the destruction of claptrap product line. The concept of going inside claptrap’s head was genius and it really is sad to see what story potential is squandered from this weird entry.
I've always loved the claptrap units and i cried when the little bastards started dying DAMNIT THEY CANT HELP BUT SCREW UP ITS IN THEY'RE CODE ITS NOT THEY'RE FAULT
