Hey guys I thought I'd compare some iron reactive wheel cleaners starting off today with NV Purge vs Bowden's Own Wheely clean let me know which you prefer. www.repco.com.au/car-care-pan... nvcarcare.com.au/products/nv-...
I’m glad to see my own experience verified. I found Dragon blood for example to be more reactive than wheely clean, but Bowden’s said it’s at the limit of thioglycolic acid content when I mentioned this, but in other comments had implied 3-way has a higher thioglycolic acid content. I find Mirch worked better than dragon blood, but 3-way worked better than Mirch’s Purity outside of just lubrication properties.
@@Disciple11 indeed, but I should clarify I’m referring to the reaction to iron particles, or the purple spotting as it etches the iron away. Some cleaners just go purple irrespective of iron surface content, but I don’t get that with dragon blood.
I'll be honest and say I don't know much about the chemicals and how they work. I just go off how I like using the product and these 2 have been favourites for a long time as I have always had great experiences with them. As for chemical reaction i don't think the amount of visible coloured reaction actually matters like I thought it did as since this video I've tested 2x more products and one had a far stronger reaction so after rinsing I decided to spray that one over the entire wheel. But it was still the same on both sides with a tiny reaction in a few spots I'd missed spraying so it seemed the less visually reactive one cleaned just as well
I have the 5L tub of BO WC, because my car's brake dust turns the wheels black, from silver. Within a couple of months! So I do use about half the bottle each wash.
I would love to see you do a comparison between these products. I usually use bowdens. Im getting pretty low as i wanna do a shop pretty soon. Love your work
What products would you like to see compared. Bowden's stuff gets a bad rap for being overpriced or for consumers only but I actually think most of their products are really good and they do constantly look to improve them and reformulate. Definitely get a trade account with them and buy in buil to save money too
@Evolved Details yeah mate some of the Bowdens stuff I love using I find it to be good quality, like the three way works well and wheely clean is pretty good. Not all they're products are the best though. Tyre sheen ain't great, and wheely clean is super expensive when you consider alternatives like brake buster or grime off. Hard to recommend the bowdens when you can get like 5L of grime off for 60 bucks, dilute it, verse 25 bucks for 500ml of the bowdens haha
A lot more product comes out from the NV. Seems to have a strong nozzle hence the reason for the foam I reckon. I love the 1 litre NV bottle but seems to use jet more product. Most of these wheel cleaners are similar in performance now, with only difference being some concentrate more on Iron removal and other do Iron removal and cleaning everything else just as well. Even ones that dont bleed like Mequiars Ultimate All wheel cleaner is just as excellent.
Thank you Jackson. Both are good products. I have and use both. I also have Mitch's Dragon's Blood which I'm yet to try. Thoughts on that compared to these? Comparable most likely. All Australian products for the most part. We are fortunate.
Thanks Ian, yeah all are pretty comparable and well priced. I actually ended up filming a video of Mirch Dragon blood vs Gyeon wheel cleaner a few days after this one which will come out in a week or so
NV FTW. Whilst they both do a good job of cleaning the surface, the NV has a much higher reaction which suggests it would be removing more embedded iron particles.
Haha no I don't. I always seem to use way too much product when filming and I don't know why. When editing this I was thinking to myself wow that's a lot of sprays haha
@@EvolvedDetails Maybe you're just trying to make sure you use enough product so that you give each product the best chance to show what it's capable of? That's probably it haha
Haha I have a mate who says it's one of the worst so I guess it comes down to the individual as I always felt it masked the smell the best and didn't linger. My friend thought the opposite
There is? I'm pretty sure I have the latest one, when did they release a new formula? I did buy a bottle late last year as I had almost emptied out one, so it's possible I've grabbed an older bottle instead of the newer one as I do have multiples of many products stacked in the shelves
@@EvolvedDetails end of 2021 the newer one was released. Wouldn’t it be best to shoot the video with the newer bottle and not an old one that’s not sold anymore?
Well I did buy a bottle late 2022 and I'm pretty sure it's what I used in the video but as I said above it's possible I've mixed the bottles up at some stage and kept the dear one and poured out the other one into it which is what I do as I always try to keep one empty around in case I buy a bulk size and can refill. Either way though it's clearly still working and cleaning very well so no bother imo
@@Disciple11 You're right. There is another "new formula" of wheely clean. I bought my bottle only a month or two ago and my bottle has "new formula" stamped on the bottom right of the label, but looks like there's a newer one with "new formula" stamped on the bottom left corner. Is that the one you're referring to?
