I’ve referred to this video so many times to make bags I feel like a stalker. 😂😂😂 I’ve watched other videos for boxed bags but your explanation just clicks the best with my brain 🧠 I love that there is no gap in the lining that requires hand stitching to close or machine stitching that doesn’t blend in. Even though it’s inside the bag, it just looks so much neater in the end having the gap near the zipper! Helped me perfectly “wrap” a few birthday gifts and Christmas gifts this past year. Thank you! ☺️

aww thats wonderful!! I'm not a big fan of hand sewing or bias binding my edges so this was the best solution imo! i'm working on a new box pouch tutorial with the same style of construction but with some added features such as zipper pockets on the outside so look out for that coming soon!

This is by far the best Tutorial for this boxy pouch . It can be frustrating to make this bag , that space/gap next to the zipper is a great idea. It makes a BIG difference. Thank you.

This was the first box pouch method I tried a few years ago. Tried recently with a different tutorial but it was SO much more complicated. Your tutorial is hands down the best method! It can be a little tricky on the first go when you get to the gusset part but once you figure it out it’s the best, fastest method!

Lovely lesson. I have some lovely Australian fabrics and my son is going to Ireland to meet his partner’s family and I just wanted to send some small gifts, which were light to pack but couldn’t find a pattern for zipper pouches with hidden seams. I’m thrilled with this tutorial and look forward to getting down to my projects. Thank you❤️

Thank you so much for this wonderful tutorial!! I made two of them; I messed up the first one, tweaked it a bit, and then my second one came out perfect! I used a medium-weight interfacing for the outside fabric, and instead of using interfacing on the liner fabric, I added a piece of clear vinyl over/next to it to make the interior easy to wipe clean while still color-coordinating with the outside. It was my first time ever making a box pouch and my first time ever working with vinyl. This video was super easy to follow, even during the most frustrating part of sewing the box corners. Thanks!!

Thanks! I wonder if it would still work if instead of leaving a gap in the zipper edge, a gap was created by using TWO pieces of lining fabric and leaving a gap where they’d be joined and thus only having a small bit of seam to connect INSIDE on the floor of the pouch? Also for those new to iron on stiffener DO NOT put the sticky side UP or it will make a big mess on your iron

I recently made this and though it turned out great it was incredibly small. I didn't really clue in till I was trying to do the box corners and was struggling with my ginormous hands. When I turned it all right side out I just started laughing, it was meant to be a pencil case for my wife.

Just made my first ever box pouch following this tutorial - I'M SO HAPPY with the result! Thank you, Ashley! I didn't think this would come to anything because I had to undo so many seams (I just can't seem to do anything right the first time). But when I turned it - AWESOME! Word of caution: don't use linen like I d did. The creases from turning will never come out 😂. All the same - I got a lovely first box pouch. To top it all off I used my first ever tiny crumb quilt as a front panel. This, too, turned out nicely. Even if the two small projects took up my whole weekend...

Yet another great tutorial! Is it crucial to use the interfacing though???
@Charmedbyashley
@Charmedbyashley 5 лет назад
Interfacing is not crucial, you can also use a thicker fabric to create stability or back a pretty fabric with a stiffer fabric, if you just used cotton fabric with no stabilizer then would just probably not stand up on it's own, it would still work on the end though lol
