Nicole’s stepfather lost his ex-wife to suicide, his stepdaughter to murder, and then his son to suicide, as well. Not only that, he had to wait for his son to help reopen Nicole’s cold case so it could potentially finally be solved. That’s all just so sad and insane.

Maybe the Netherlands prison has additional oversight on release or something though, I do think it's good that they try to rehab low level offenders but I really don't think murderers should get the chance.

So he assaulted an ex girlfriend, got locked up, assaulted a woman biking, hopefully got locked up, got out again, and finally he assaulted and murdered a 15 year old little girl, and was STILL only sentenced to 5 years and then changed to 12 later? 2 women and a girl were violently assaulted and 1 of them was murdered because they let this animal out every. single. time... Could you imagine if a man stabbed 2 people on 2 seperate ocassions, and then got out of jail only to stab and then kill another person? 1st and foremost, they would've been put away for a long time after the first stabbing! The second? Oh, they would be in jail forever! And to get out only to KILL someone?? Life in prison or death penalty, at least in the US. That's the kind of punishment these sex offenders deserve, I actually think it's WORSE to do that to someone than it is to just physically hurt them. I mean, damn, beating someone up can get you charged with ATTEMPTED MURDER and that's a lot of jail time! but sexual assault gets super light sentences comparatively, even though I know for a FACT every one, men and women both, would rather be beat up than be sexually assaulted. Yet the punishment is the opposite. Make it make sense.🤦‍♀️

These comments always confuse me, because honestly, do you understand how long 5 years is? And 12 is even worse. Are you really going to tell me that you’d live through imprisonment for what is probably, at that point, a quarter to a third of your life and immediately risk going back? Plus, are you really going to tell me you’re the same sort of person at ages, say, 24 and 36, especially after going through something like prisoner rehabilitation? I know we see all the stories about reoffenders, trust me I watch the videos too, but that’s a tiny, tiny minority. After 10 or so years of imprisonment the chances of someone being released and reoffending are pretty much the same as the chances of any given member of the public without a criminal record committing an offence. And yes, that applies to all crimes. The only reason to hold anyone at all longer than 10-20 years, unless they truly show no remorse whatsoever, is to make the victims feel better. And I don’t know about you, but I don’t think that’s a good enough reason to completely destroy someone’s life.

Oh man Nicole is from a city right where I live.. Nicole's brother is an absolute hero and genius. Im beyond amazed. I study in the field of DNA and life sciences and it's true we've made leaps in DNA forensics and some kits can detect DNA from tenfold longer ago than in the times Nicole passed.

In the first one it sounds like law enforcement in the Netherlands don't know how to do their jobs in the mid 90's , I was a young rookie law enforcement officer and investigator in the mid 90's and the department I worked for would have properly taken DNA samples.

I'm very skeptical of this narrative. Let's look at the facts: 1. Why did the tribe that rescued Narcisse behaved in such an opposite way? They are neighbors of the supposedly hostile tribe and had the same culture. 2. The boat had a much larger capacity than that which was taken, what was the reason for this? 3. Search about cannibalism in so-called "Europe". Whether for magical or medicinal reasons (books: "Medicinal Cannibalism in Early Modern English Literature and Culture" and "Mummies, Cannibals and Vampires"), hunger or even pleasure. From accounts of cannibalism of northern barbarians by the ancient Greeks (Androphagi), medieval fairy tales (such as Hansel and Gretel), to stories told on this very channel (The Raft of the Medusa). Armin Meiwes said that there are thousands of cannibals in Germany alone. With these facts and the traditional psychological projection of "Western ethnicity", it is easy to deduce that the truth is the opposite of what has been said. Furthermore, during colonization, many peoples (including the natives of New Guinea) were falsely accused of cannibalism in order to justify genocide. The book The Man-Eating Myth by W. Arens discusses this.

Sad in deed... Andy really did tried to get justice for his sister, and it took a huge toll on him...Poor guy. Narcisse was already acepted into the tribe and that was his family, he was basically dragged away to a world, by that time, strange to him...

I've spent time at Cape Direction. There are worse places to be stranded. Its as close to paradise as you can get. There's lots of places like 'Frenchman's crossing' etc in that area. I wonder if that's from that particular Frenchman or another from more recent history.

These stories are so well told. Can you please tell the story of Uncle Boozy, Joe Biden's uncle who got eaten by canibals? I've heard the one about that Rockefeller man who got eaten, but this one is new to me and I've never even heard of it before. I think it's new to most non Americans even if it's common knowledge over there. Thanks for all the good stuff you share with us.
