I have been diagnosed with cachexia. I am retired MD/Pediatrician, looking for new, and alternative treatment. Thank you for your work.

This video is very helpful. Our battle has only just begun the past 2 months. My husband has an aggressive cancer, not 100% diagnosed i.e. lung or kidney. We are just learning about Cachexia which we think is happening to him. He lost 40 lbs in one month and in a lot of pain. Until he receives surgery or Chemo, probably in the next 3 weeks, we are working on a Keto diet; Dr. Berg videos on You Tube have been extremely helpful. NO CARBS......sugar or starches. Also learning that iron and Folic Acid are toxic and could have attacked his organs over the years.

Chronic active Epstein bar virus has caused me to have cachexia... now I have a h/p axis issue. Or sometimes known as Nuro Endo metabolic syndrome. Thank you for this video. I don’t know how to get better. It’s been all of my 30s and most of my 40s. I’m 46. I’m tired.

I am a stage 4 metastatic breast cancer patient who has temporarily beaten cachexia. I was diagnosed 2 years ago and had already lost 30 lbs. Ended up losing 80 altogether. I have mets to spine, ribs, lung, lymph and shoulder. I had no appetite after IV chemo and 20 radiation treatments for my arm tumor. I started on oral hormone blockers (Verzenio + Letrazole) which really helped slow my cancer spread. My oncologist put me on a med called Cyproheptadine (Periactin). It's an antihistamine with the side effect of increasing the appetite and it worked for me. I gained 30 lbs in one year and feel a lot more energetic and better all over since getting my appetite back. I can eat no sugar and healthy and have my high protein meals and help my body heal. I stopped taking the Periactin after about 5 months since I was gaining and felt better. I've not had to go back on it and right now I'm in a holding pattern with my tumor markers the same, blood work is good and normal and my weight stabilizing (no further gain or loss) in the past 6 months. If you have cachexia, ask your doctor about Cyproheptadine and if you can get it. It helped me and at least for now, my cachexia has stopped. The other thing is you have to exercise and keep up your muscle strength so start walking and do something. Get up off your butt and don't let the cancer win. Stay strong!

Lane... thank you ♡ SO glad i found this. Seeing my Nuero Onocologist to read my scan from last week and oncologist this week. Been on serious Physical Mental fight sith stage 4 since 2019. I get off my BOOTY everyday, eat well, push my painful body ( after serious side effects com treatments and coma in 2020) I woke weeks later. Muscke loss. Down to 104. Intractable pain.... unabke to swallow to walk. Steriods 17 months and Antibiotics every other day for term, slow taper, now off.. NOW still a bit tricky w appetite issues, but i get UP and out everyday as much as possible. Though Critical. i refuse TOO ..to stop and i do everything i can to fight this shitty BEAST :) cancer. I lost 40 and starting to gain back to my originak weight without breads and sugars. Its very hard. Also semi ~stable♡ Walking a little moreore everyday. Walk with pain, muscle pains in hips and lower back..but hopefully i can afford PT to help with core strength . Thats very difficult. hard and painful. Thank you SO much for wonderful helful comment... wishing you the very BEST. Keep on keeping onl i hope you reach others.... Im sure YOU will HELP MANY many people are seriously suffering! Wish i could reach out and HELP everyone! Knowing the pain everyday, knowing its literally a battle for life. Grateful to be here, but its a lot of work and TRYING both are menta7mentallyl AND Physical draining..... ♡Love and light♡ ( gentle hugs to you) Mary

@@giovannimaisano9194 Hi there! My oncologist told me it's the best med he could recommend to me to help me with increasing my appetite. Cyproheptadine is an antihistamine and it made me a little sleepy but I didn't have any other side effects with it but it made me hungry enough to start eating after about 2 weeks of taking it. I took one pill twice a day for maybe 5 months. Gained 30 lbs and stopped the cachexia in its tracks. I don't have any further weight loss or weakness at least for right now. I have minor aches and pains but nothing severe enough to take pain meds for. I'm actually doing well for the moment and counting my blessings. Please ask for the Cyproheptadine (Periactin) to help you and I'm going to pray for you daily. Get well and keep in touch!---- Lane (Lanie)

Polyphenoles as in Curcumin, Pomegranate Extract, Sulforaphane and so on could help. It's worth a try, judging the studies i've read.
