update: she did end up wearing this dress for her wedding and it was so beautiful. It is cool cause a lot of the time brides on here don't actually wear what they picked on the show.

It seems like mum has yet to come to terms with her daughter's personality or that she loves another woman. I do think that she's trying her best, but I just don't think that she's quite come to terms with things yet.

I have watched this clip a few times before and I always feel throughout the mother was just like speaking through gritted teeth and like the black dress wasn't the issue. The issue was the fact that her daughter was marrying a woman. Mom feels very much like an ardent traditionalist.

I love it! I have been married for 26 years and got married in the only drive thru wedding chapel in Las Vegas as my mom threatened that if I moved in with him b4 getting married, I could get married in the back of the church in a black dress. I don't regret a thing!!

When a bride wants a non-white wedding dress - especially black - why get the dress from a bridal boutique? There are so many stunning formal black dresses in all types of configurations being sold in other retail stores (and with a much better variety and price), why pay a premium at a place where there’s slim pickings? Or is it because there’s no “Say Yes To The Dress”-type shows focused at other types of dress shops…? And with a $6,000 budget, she could have a gorgeous dress made to her specifications with fabric she chose. Ah well, at least this is entertaining, even if it makes little sense… Brother rocks, though!

This is a fun one. Usually when they have an unconventional bride and a conservative parent it's all about the fireworks. THIS lady, however, has her head screwed on RIGHT! She didn't like that her daughter dated a woman, but she adapted. She didn't like the idea of a black dress, but again she adapted. I love her. I love her crazy, wonderful daughter and leve-headed son too. Great family.

I know to each is their own and everybody is in charge of their own body and can make their own decisions. I get that. I used to love and admire tattoos and the artistry behind it all. But what changed my mind is that it takes away from the true identity of somebody. You know they say that your past shouldn't define you and certain things shouldn't define you. But when you have full body sleeves and tons of really big tattoos all over the place and you're a woman.. something about it. That just makes a female turn into something that doesn't express who she really is. I've met probably about 85% of people who have told me that they love the tattoos, but they just don't love them on their body anymore. So please ladies be wise and very careful about what you do to your body. Please respect your body and the beauty that it has that God gave you. And whether you believe in God or not, I'm just giving you a word of why is advised from someone who has tattoos that clearly regret them. I think a lot of women nowadays think that it's super cool or it can do whatever they want to their bodies. But I always hear the same thing a decade to two decades later. I wish I would have never done it. Because it looks like trash.

this mother was actually accepting yalls. she never said she was against the daughter being with another lady. she said it wasnt what she envisioned, but she never showed disgust against it. same for the gown, she had an idea, not that the daughters idea was not good, its just she cant take her mind off her initial expectations. she adjusted every single time to her daughter's comfort. kudos to daughter for trying ball gown for mama, tho it was more of kudos to Lori really for trying to satisfy the both in some way. just my 50 cents on the situation if it was me, id be so happy my mother agrees to let me marry the person i love regardless of gender. if its the only thing i can make reality for her, the wedding gown, then id give her it. or better yet, get two gowns. I will find a way to make my mother feel included still

Most moms want the ballgown look for their daughter. I don't really get it because when I tried that fit on, it looked TERRIBLE on me. At my vow renewal, I'm not doing that look either. I think some moms project what they'd wear onto their daughters, which is irritating.

Black dresses always shock people Lmaoo, it’s not that serious. To satisfy EVERYONE, I’m wearing a HUGE black ball gown with a very long train for the ceremony, and a vintage looking halter neck, very very low back white dress with a detachable circle skirt that has a Leotard covered in tassels for the first dance. It also has a Robert Cavalli style metal spine coming down the middle, ugh… I love it so much❤❤❤❤

As a mother of a teenager I would want more white with splashes of black.... I dnt care who she's marrying but I do want grandkids, plus her Egyptian side of the family would freak out.
