In this video I describe and show how to install the DRL halo front fog lamps to a Range Rover L322. These lamps are from ‪@L663‬ and are a direct replacement for the original lamps. However, they do need an additional wire to be run to the DRL part of the lamp -- it is this power feed which is tricky to source and install.
The job should be relatively easy, but because the grill and lamp surrounds that are fitted to my range rover wouldn't come off easily and because there is conflicting and unclear information on the internet about the side light feed, making the exchange was much more difficult than I would have preferred -- in fact, the original installation took 9 hours.
The wiring is the most tricky part. Images on the internet are conflating and the identification of the correct wire is problematic. Furthermore, because of the lighting module inside the headlight, measuring the plug contacts with a multimeter will not provide you with useful information, as the voltages without the lamp plugged in are in the mv range. In short, you will need pin 4 and the wire is RED with a BLUE tracer. When the 16 pin plug is viewed from the rear (from the wires going into the plug) and with the clip on the top, pin 4 is the first pin on the left of the second row down.
Splicing into this wire is also tricky because the loom is not long enough to manipulate easily. I soldered my connections, but you may chose a mechanical connection or crimp.
At the end of the video I present a handy tip when changing the lower front control arms, which should save you over an hour. I also discuss the wiper cowl flutter noise, which is a common fault on the L322, and discuss the new tyres I've fitted (Nokian Outpost AT 275/55/20).

I put my bonnet into access mode to get the battery out, easier. Two clips either side, pop the struts, and up it goes.

Can you elaborate more on how you do this, please Mark? How does that allow you to get the batter from under the wiper cowl?

@@shedlock2000 Sure, look where the hinges are on the side of the bonnet, there is a small “Clip” and a “knob”. It will rotate through 90 degrees, there should be one on both side, pop the struts at the body end, and the entire bonnet will lift back, and you can ease the “CLIP” into the “knob” Hope that makes sense, go have a look on the hinge, you should see what I mean. You might need to WD-40 the bracket as if it’s not been used, it will likely be stuck.

I do understand what you mean! Thanks - I’ve never looked closely because I’ve never had the bonnet be in the way… yet! Thank you for the info, I’m sure that’ll come in very useful at some point! How does this help you remove the battery? I’m assuming that you still have to pull or lift the wiper cowl?

@@shedlock2000 nope. When in access, lift the battery up and pull towards you. Never taken the cowl off Honestly, it’s easy once the bonnet is vertical.

That’s excellent information! Thank you! The cowl is a nightmare to pull and then needs re-sealing, so it’s good to know the battery can be removed without pulling it.
