My second time viewing this video. I have been enjoying a lot of the older videos, but Melissa, I must say, as much fun as it is to see old ones from 8 years ago, I much prefer the ones where you have already moved to the farmhouse with Joe. Love this, we do the same casserole at Christmas and sometime Thanksgiving. The only difference in the recipe I have (from my mom), is we use seasoned breadcrumbs, tossed in melted butter.
Well woke up to -30 below with wind chill here in Iowa. Crap, crappy crap crap! Then I looked online and found you had put on a yummy recipe. I can smell the cheese from here Melissa. It looks really good. I'm going to send this one to my daughter in Minnesota. I hope that you and Joe are doing well, and keeping each other warm and well fed. I really liked the shelves for the kitchen and bathroom, and the rabbit hutches also. Oh yes, the cabinets for the kitchen in LA were really neat! May I ask 2 questions not a fan of mushroom soup could exchange for cream of chicken and how does your casserole dishes not get all that brown crud on the edges that never seem to wash off.
you could sure give it a try...I'm sure you could use cream of shrimp or anything, it would probably have a stronger taste. I scrub the heck out of my casserole dishes with a scrubby pad and if the scrubby pad doesn't work I break out the SOS pad...lol
you can also make your own roux with butter, flour and milk, pepper, in a saucepan, add your cheeses and pour that over your steamed broccoli. One does not HAVE to use canned soups to make creamy casserole dishes. I do this all the time with my tuna noodle casseroles. Sometimes Campbells soups are just a bit much. 'And when recipes call for one Cream of Mush and one cream of Chick, I call it quits and do something else. You can also use cream of celery soup.
