Trey and I put the wood duties away for the day and get out on the ice for some fishing. Trey produced this video. I think he did a fine job. Created by InShot:inshotapp.page...
Great father- son time.Trey done a great job videoing. Got my stuff the other day Mike. Thanks a bunch my friend. From cold (-5F) S. E. Ohio State warm.
Hi John! Trey will appreciate your comment. Thank you. Glad you got your stuff. The hoodie is good for -6 F, so you should be covered... LOL! Stay warm and thank you for watching! WST
Great to see you spending time with Trey enjoying some hard water fishing. Still do that with my 3 youngest boys who are 46, 48 and 50. Started taking them over 40 years ago and still all loving it. Just found your channel tonight and enjoy your witty humor, twisted at times, just like mine. I also still cut firewood with them too. We use to have a home with a wood furnace in the basement and taught them the fine art of cutting, splitting and stacking firewood. Envious of your hardwoods. Living in the Black Hills of South Dakota we cut mostly pine. Anxious seeing how your revamped log splitter will meet your expectations. Keep the videos coming.
Hi Rick! Very nice to meet you and welcome to WST! Glad you found us. Sounds like we share the same love for our boys and the outdoors. Wouldn't have it any other way! What you taught your boys will never leave them and that is what I am trying to do here. I grew up with it also, but when I left the nest I didn't go straight to what I have now. I explored other options and made my path in life. That path took me back to burning wood and the outdoors. It never left me and here I am. You are in a beautiful area of the country! The temperature swings there is crazy to me. One day it is 10 degrees and the next it is 65 degrees. Crazy. Thanks for watching and look forward to seeing you in the comments again soon! WST
Hey Cherry 🍒 Man! Glad to hear you have spent some time on the ice. The fish is sure better tasting in the cold. We enjoy it and we get a lot of conversation in. If Trey had it his way, the video would have been 3 hours long!!! LOL! Appreciate you watching and supporting Trey Man! WST
1year congrats Mike!! Ice fishing looks cool. I have never been. Looks like you have the right setup to keep you on the ice longer. Nice production Trey!💪🏻 See ya on the next one🐿
TOA, TOA! Thanks for the comment. Trey will appreciate it. We have a decent setup. We stay warm and have a lot of fun. Not as much action as the past the weeks (figures) Thanks for watching! WST
Hi David and Rachel! Thanks for the congrats. I think we will do a better ice fishing video later on this winter. We learned a thing or two this go around. We hope to catch a “hole filler” the next time we film. Thanks for watching! WST
Hi TC! I appreciate the nice comment. It is definitely a nice way to pass time when the woodyard is frozen. You just go to something else that is frozen and drill some holes in it. Thanks for watching! WST
Hi Overrev Kev! It is a good time once you are set up and warm. The beginning (setup) and end (packing up) can be rough at times. Thanks for watching! WST
Great time to spend with the son. I did a lot of fishing with my boys when they were younger. I haven't done much since they grew up and out on their own. Makes it more fun the have the kids with. Have a great day!
Hello Timber Visions! I am doing what I can to get as much time in with the boys possible. Before you know it, they are off living their own lives. I’ll enjoy it while I can. Thanks for watching! WST
Hey Cajun! You would love it man. You would need to dress up a bit, but fishing through a hole is pretty cool (literally) Hope you are healing up and getting closer to more videos. I'm 2-3 weeks out from the 372XPW. I'll keep you posted. WST
Hi Heinzie! Hope you are staying warm. Tip ups are fun, but it is so darn cold, that the holes freeze up fast. We just jig in the shanty and save ourselves the frustration. Thanks for giving Trey the 👍up. He appreciates it. Here is to another year of WST 🍻Thanks for watching! WST
Hello Brad! Yea, no trouble at all going ice fishing.... It is like moving and have to erect your own house everywhere you go. Not sure what trouble you go through, but thanks for letting me have this one LOL! Glad you are enjoying the channel. We try. Take care my friend! WST
Great way to spend time with your son👍. I remember the last time I went ice fishing it warmed up to 50° and I lost half my catch on the way home..... Congrats on the one year 🎊🎉
Hello B&F! Nice to have you in the comments! We appreciate it. Sorry to hear about the catch. 50 degrees is tough to keep them in. Right now, out fish are like rocks by the time we get home. They sure are fresh though! Thanks for the congrats and thanks for supporting WST! Take care!
Hi Del! Thank you for the congrats. Ice fishing is a good time and much better once you have everything setup and are inside. We are in a cold snap, so it is a bit miserable at first. Thanks for watching! WST
Congratulations on 1 year Mike! I have never been Ice fishing so this was a great video with You and Trey Ice Fishing. I did see a lot of people Ice Fishing and a lot snowmobiling on the Lakes up in Michigan. Even saw campers on the ice. Are there special campers made for Ice Fishing? See ya on the next one!
Hi Craig! Glad you enjoyed something different. Lots of ATV’s, snowmobiles and special made campers for the ice up here. Those campers aren’t cheap and those that have them stay in them overnight on the ice. Pretty cool, but for the diehards. Thanks for watching! WST
Perch fishing is fun. It’s all about the quantity not the size. Looked like a good time. Fish on! I remember……..wait that story will have to wait for now lol. Fun video make it longer next time. 👍
Glad to hear you enjoyed the vid. We are going to make a better video that is easier for the viewer to watch. Multiple cameras, boom mics, director, producer, personal assistants, make up artist, catered food, stunt men and munitions expert. It will also be longer. We are looking at a minimum of 3 hours with intermission pee breaks and snacks that can be ordered online. Should be a hoot. Thanks for watching and the great feedback! WST
Hi David! Ice fishing is an acquired taste. Freezing getting setup and packing up to go home happens. In the shanty we stay toasty. We always have a good time. Thanks for watching! WST
Hi Daniel! Thanks for the Congrats. One year down, a lot more in front of us. That wall hanger is still swimming and getting bigger. Thanks for watching! WST
Hi Bill! Thank you for the wishes. Glad to hear you are a fisherman also. What state are you from? The ski setup is new for us. I just built that the day before. The wider stance is more stable across rough terrain and it keeps my sled off the ground. Less wear and more longevity. Thanks for watching! WST
Looks fun! Nice job Trey! Some good subtle content in this one - “tomato face”, wiping snot on pants (my nose drips when it’s cold too and my kids make fun of me all the time). BTW, add kitty corner to the list of things you say differently. It’s catty corner here. Congrats on one year! ☃️🎣👰♀️👃🏼🍅👁🗨😂
Hi John! I know Trey will appreciate this comment! LOL! Tomato Face..... UGH! Our winter gear is like one big COVID test swab! You name it, we wipe it in what we are wearing. I believe catty corner is the correct terminology. The reason we call it kitty corner is because every cat we've ever had relieves itself in a corner.... that is my story and I am sticking to it! Thank you for watching!!! WST
Hi Logan! I am shocked you have never been ice fishing! You are in one of the best fisheries for ice fishing! I would love to fish in general in MN. That like was just being aggravating. That is the downfall of a camera, you get too excited! Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching! WST
Congratulations on your 1 Year to bad the fish weren't a little bit bigger that would have been a great dinner for the middle of winter, that looked like a nice pikei guess he wasn't hungry, to bad he would have been a meal by himself
Hi Larry! Thank you for the congrats! The fish size has been down this year. Good length, just no girth to them. Otherwise, you are right, fish out of the ice are very fresh and good tasting! I think the single digit temps have made the larger fish a bit lethargic. Not a lot of zip to them. This weekend is going to be no better. Cold, cold and cold. Thank you for watching as always! WST
HAY-HAY... MIKE... WICKED COOL VIDEO MAN & CONGRATS ON THE ONE YEAR... YA-BUDDY GOOD TIMES ARE COMMIN' WITH THE CAT FOR-SURE... I LOVE THAT SETUP, KILLER MAN! THANX FOR THIS VIDEO, NICE TO SEE THE HOUNDS DOIN' SOMETHIN' DIFFERENT... THE LAKE LOOKS GINOURMUS, BET ITS BANGIN' IN THE SUMMER HUGH??? GOTTA DO ONE THEN TOO, ( K )??? IS THAT YOUR GO-TO SPOT??? Yo, Gringo my Man! How’s it shaking? Thanks for the congratulatory remarks. We appreciate it. We are nowhere near professional grade fisherman, but we always pull a fish out of the hole every time we go. It was nice to show our loyal viewers something different. You know, mix it up a little. Next week I’ll show you all how I eat oatmeal without a spoon…. maybe. The lake is massive indeed. It spans 10 miles north to south and 5.5 miles east to west. It’s the lake we live off of and it is our go to lake. Where we fish depends on the thickness of the ice. As the winter rolls on, the father out we go. We try to fish along the weed beds. Throwing an acorn or a filbert on a hook may be an interesting test. The elusive aquatic squirrel may appear?? I hope Squatch showed up for a photo op for you. Would make a nice pic over the mantle. Thanks for watching and for the awesome comment. We appreciate you! WST
My dad took my brother and I ice fishing once! Hand auger no shack sat on buckets afroze our butts off!! Oh yeah we didn't catch any fish !! Good times 🤣🤣
Hey Mike! Sounds rough!!! That is the way it was when i was younger also. We had a spud to make our holes. Great when the ice was 3-4" thick, terrible when it was more than that. No shelter and sitting on the bucket...... you brought back some nightmares! LOL! Thanks for watching. WST
Hey Woody! It is definitely cold fun. If you are trying to befriend Trey, you are on the right path. I had no idea he wasn't that much of a fan. I know now. He is a big Tennessee Titans fan. We don't have a team here in Michigan, as you may know. Thanks for watching! WST
Just dinks here at Lake Simcoe, half hour north of Toronto. the lake is a bit bigger than Toronto, we used to clean up the perch there, now its fished out.
@Wood, Sweat and Tears ya it was good up til early 2010s. Jumbo perch year round. I haven't heard about the laker, crappie and whitefish bite. Smallmouth are huge there, feeding on gobies. Way back, I took a guy there who didn't like lures and he lost two giant pike with my Rapala (because of his crappy gear) near the bottom of the lake where the Maskinonge Musky in French) River feeds the lake. Musky have been stocked recently. Lake Couchiching is a big shallow-ish lake connect at the top. Lots of largemouth in the Holland River at the bottom. Ducks Unlimited owns rhe marsh in that area for obvious reasons.
Great job on the first video Trey! You guys have a great setup. Was it just me or was Trey catching all the fish? Here’s my advice Mike - Pay attention and try to pick up on what Trey’s doing and I think you’ll have better luck next time. Honestly though, this video could have been twice as long and I’d watched every minute of it. Good stuff. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🐿🐿📏
Trey is going to get too giddy reading this comment. I better hide it….. 🤣 Yea, he catches a lot with his wax worms. I use the minnows for the bigger boys. He would rather just catch fish and I would rather catch something I can eat. Glad you enjoyed the vid. We plan to do this again this year. We talked about how to make it even better for the viewer so Trey isn’t zooming in and out etc. We’ll hook you up FM! Take care, brother! WST
Hi Larry! You have 10,000 lakes to choose from!! LOL! We enjoy it and has been a fun pastime in the winter here. Having the lake right now the road makes it easier also. Thanks for watching! WST
