Taxpayer dollars should not go to companies like Amazon and multi-billionaires like Jeff Bezos who repeatedly break the law.

Amazon is actually quadruple-dipping into US taxpayer dollars, if you think about it. 1. Pays no federal income tax, even collecting tax refunds. 2. Government contracts and subsidies at all levels of government. 3. Amazon accepts SNAP benefits as a form of payment, whether online or in-store. 4. Pays workers so little that many of them qualify for safety net programs like food stamps, Section 8, Medicaid, subsidized child care, etc.
@alicansss

If Amazon were to choose between paying 30 dollars per hour to warehouse workers or spending billons of dollars for R&D to develop picking robots, Amazon would choose to invest in picking robots. I think unionization of Amazon workers is accelerating the inevitable, which is gradual phasing out boring, manual work at warehouses. The government should support Amazon with subsidies to incentivize it to employ warehouse workers, instead we are hearing the opposite.

@@IllinoisblueLineBerserkerwatch Why do u think that? Robotics companies would not have employees to b in a union if they chose not to build if robot would take away human job Robotics/ automation will replace human labor across all markets. That is why it is extremely important to update the US education system (vs the opposite banning books & alter facts in subjects like history & science) so the labor force will b prepared for the future in areas like technology, environmental, energy, & food production. A good example would b in housing; homes that can withstand the changing environment: extreme summers & winters, greater ability to withstand tornados, quakes & hurricanes, using renewable materials. All new homes should create 100% of their energy utilizing solar, wind & water using power bank (off grid). All homes need to b collecting rain water (61% of US has been in drought for minimum 40 weeks) & grey water needs to b directed back into the home, gardens, & ground. I also believe that all toilets should b composting/ incinerator. Every home should have the ability to suppliment food. Even people living in apartments can utilize lights creating a living wall or atrium style drawers.... I've always wanted an Earthships. Architect Michael Renyolds started this in the 1970s & has built these homes around the world. Also think the gov needs to start paying Universal Basic Income funded by a minimum- maximum range corporate tax- The greater a corporations use of robotics/ technology vs human labor the higher the tax

All of my kids worked at the local Amazon on and off as temporary/seasonal - one was converted but she was going to go back to KU. Amazon closed the center and relocated it south about 78 miles to Tulsa, OK. It was one of the largest employers in town if not the largest. They kept it a secret until I called the Chamber of Commerce and tried to warn them they were about to lose their largest employer in this small town. My oldest daughter walked a toenail off one time when she worked. She was let go once because she was pregnant, her numbers were unbelievably good. One of her work "chums" "innocently" complained to the temp service manager about her and mentioned she was pregnant and was she going to be let go. It was Christmas and they were letting people go and deciding who would be offered conversion to Amazon employee. She never went back to Amazon and then they were *poof* gone ... real fast. I'd like to see Lindsey Graham's pampered butt last 15 minutes at Amazon. Right to work is code for Right to Fire (for no reason). And every supervisor knows that.

It is against the law for a company to take an anti-union stance whithin their company or publicly because of the leverage companies have over workers. If workers feel that their employers are antagonistic towards worker's organizations they'd be far less likely to even discuss unionizing. That essentially constitutes coercion.

All the things I practically yelled at my tv over because these politicians never mention these things ; probably because they were things in conflict with the people funding there campaigns. … I’m only now realizing that Bernie Sanders might be the only guy left in the U.S. Government who is not corrupted by the dirty game of politics and is truly interested in helping the common American. It’s sad that because the guy has refused to corrupt his morals and seriously claim any partisanship or let lobbyists sway his opinions that he’ll probably never win a presidential election. I’m so glad there’s a guy sitting up in D.C. telling it as it is , he calls out shit that is blatantly unreasonable and one sided towards these corporations and top 1 percent and he doesn’t beat around the bush either. Some of the things this man says there is simply no debate for wether your right or left. The only debate that seems to exist to some of the things he says are not even respectable counterpoints , if anything they are shining examples of rabid partisanship and being a mouthpiece for corporate lobbyists. I don’t care if you are Republican or Democrat if you are a member of the working/middle class idk how you could hate on Bernie Sanders.

Most of the Senators nailed it. Stop looking at it as "targeting Amazon" that is not what is being established here. It is a reminder to all companies, proper business practices and keeping workers, worplaces and consumers priority first, gains you record profits. Costs to the consumer is less about the actual wage of a worker than the amount of hours given to production or the costs of supplies to manufacture. A service dept sometimes charges 100/hr to the consumer for technician to put tires on a car. The tires are a separate "cost". The mechanic may only make 15-20 dollars of that $100, that is really "gouging" unless the additional 80-85 dollars can be justified. Wholesale to retail is only double unless tremendous amounts of waste and loss is a factor. Thats for the company to figure out how to control THAT, not a persons wage. Lindsay Graham is actually expressing "socialism" oligarchy. "Right wing"= Socialism. Too many Republicans try to deflect. Thats your burden to bear Republicans. Whether unions are formed in workplaces or not, the fact remains every employer/company should expense revenues towards workforce and workplace environment, safety and towards education for promotion FIRST. Make it a priority. THEN they can say they have EARNED their revenues. "Right to work" states should make sure that livable wages and affordable benefits are being encouraged and no place in a right to work state is an oppressor to the people. For any "right to work" state to NOT mandate a livable wage as minimum wage is a disgusting House and Senate.

Taxpayer dollars should never go to a business or corporate entity, that in itself should be anathema to the free-market capitalism they want so badly. Maybe if they *just worked harder* or *spent less on coffee* they wouldn’t need assistance 👀. Instead Americans should be more on board with a national healthcare system and housing reform.

You don’t understand they already shot themselves in the foot years ago. The money is what keeping a lot of these zombies companies afloat. We going to crush soon one way or another and this crush is going to be worst than the Great Depression. Few people pay attention to the huge CEO retirement a few years back and quitting they see it coming. In fact, a lot of folk see it coming. It looks like it pretty much world wide with a few countries that already collapsed already. Only thing keeping the USA afloat is the world standard and their losing that power day by day. They let it go on too long and when I say this I mean they been doing this to themselves for decades now letting companies run the country, shipping, and investing in other countries and sending all the jobs there that are now becoming our biggest enemies, paying companies welfare to keep companies afloat instead of letting them fail like they should, etc. Now we close to reaping with we sow for years, they trying to blame it on everything now but with they did. Now everybody racing to not be the one holding the bag, hot potato, or the one without a chair when the music stops.

Lindsey Graham goes personal and attacks Bernie, whereas Bernie stuck to the facts of the issue. He might have glared meaningfully at Ljndsey now and then while talking but he didn’t insult him with innuendo and personal mischaracterization. For Lindsey to say this isn’t important and to insult Bernie and workers all at the same time is an outrage. We can see him itching to have the power back in his hands. Deny him that: Vote for Democrats!
@warriorwaitress7690
@warriorwaitress7690 2 года назад
@@bethleslie3994 Agreed, Graham came off like a petty, petulant child, but when you go to war with someone, you want them to be emotional so they'll make more mistakes. Bernie kept his cool with his trademarked laser-focus on policy and substance. A big part of why he continues to be the #1 most popular senator for several years running. With all due respect though, I don't believe in "vote blue, no matter who". I'm a lefty non-affiliated voter, and the first thing I base my votes on is the source of a candidate's funding. Taking large corporate donations of any kind is immediately disqualifying. Both of my US senators and my US Rep. are all Democrats. My Rep. doesn't just take all kinds of corporate money, but has been in Congress for decades and has more than $10 million PERSONALLY invested in our local natural gas utility while he wears a stupid bicycle lapel pin and masquerades as some kind of progressive environmentalist. My blue senators are both fully beholden to Wall Street, the for-profit health care industry, war profiteers and fossil fuel companies. I can't in good conscience enable this corruption anymore, and I would argue that it's this corruption which caused the dire straits we're in currently. I had to get off the merry-go-round.
@warriorwaitress7690
@warriorwaitress7690 2 года назад
@@bethleslie3994 Also, my senior senator has been in the Senate for 26 years, and before that he was our Rep. for 16 years. That's 42 total years in Congress. My Rep. has been in the House also for 26 years, since he literally took the senior senator's House seat. My junior senator has "only" been in the Senate for 13 years. He's decent on a couple of issues but barely gives more than lip service to the issues I care most about. To give him some credit, he was the only sitting US senator to endorse Bernie in the 2016 campaign. I was happy to see that, but that goodwill only takes him so far with me if he chooses to take legal corporate bribes. Every single of them have become quite wealthy during their long stints in Congress, and none of them are bestselling authors, if you know what I mean, lol.

We can follow the German model. Any business, seriously 100% of businesses if they want to be in Germany, must allow the workers to be Unionized first. This was 8 years ago, but I was watching a documentary on business practices and Walmart came up. They first talked to the Germans' because it was a new company for them and from America no doubt. Their starting rate of pay, and this is regardless of cashier, stocking or mopping was the equivalent of our 34 dollars an hour. They loved working at Walmart because of the great pay, benefits and time off, plus new options that are simply not offered to American's such as maternal leave AND pay. She asked, why do just about every American I hear when talking about Walmart, hate the place and want to find something different and higher paying. When she heard the producer say, minimum wage usually, but sometimes a dollar or two more. She still looked like she needed some more understanding so he just came out with it, roughly 8 to 9 dollars and hour, rarely given any benefits and time off. The woman looked like she was looking into a NAZI Concentration camp for the first time. How can American's afford to buy their houses, cars and clothes, never mind their family? Both her and her husband work at Walmart, bought a nice house that they raise their two kids in and never worry about time off as German companies are required by law to offer a month of paid leave upon your first day of work. This clip of the Pro Act was great and needed, and Lindsey Graham acted like a selfish bitch that was fingering out one company and not his butt hole. The first guy that responded and I totally respect for wearing what he did for the hearing was legit, and no Lindsey the same lousy treatment from your company is not just a single man's opinion. I would have loved it if Lindsey would asked the Union leader, if he enjoyed a good bum fingering as Lindsey says he does between meetings.

@@warriorwaitress7690I can't agree with you more. Having said that, for every problem there's a solution. A man's worst enemy is considering himself as the center of the universe and mobilize all his capabilities to materialize the unnatural hypothesis driven by greed and justified by brutality. When you tell people there's not sufficient supplies of toilet papers they fight each other over toilet papers, when you tell a Billionaire that his potential rivals might take over he doesn't even think about the workers who are a financial burden to him no matter how much they serve his pocket. That's what greed does to people. The only solution for this mess is actually simple; tell the toilet paper fighters and the Billionaires who are like mass-toilet paper fighters to stop, and about think about their behavior. Meanwhile as a legislator one should minimize the chance of greed driven brutality and chaos on any level.
