English subtitles are available. From start to finish, this is a complete build of Revell Harbor Tugboat. I'm using this to learn how to make water effects for my Operation Overlord diorama. Enjoy.
One of the models I build as a child, early 80s. Lost thru the years. Very nice to see it again, already bought one to remember that time. Now I hope with much better building skills. :-) Great job, QDC! Enjoyed a lot of your videos.
QDC, I truly enjoy your videos. A lot of great tips for novice builders and folks who want to find different and sometimes more efficient ways to finish kits. Keep up the good work and I can't wait to see this completed diorama.
I just wanted to say, amazing skills you have in making these kits! In fact, your videos helped me make my own model kits. Because of your tips, I have managed to build an Abrams, a Tiger II, a KV-1E, and also an M4 Sherman. Thank you so much!
I'm planing to revive my model kit making hobby. Something that i left almost 20yrs ago. Planning to build a lancaster bomber with my kid. I love boats too. Had quite a bunch long time ago. Your video is great.
Very nice ideal on making the water for the diorama. Being a model railroader and having a lot of areas on the layout that will have water this will work really good. Plus it will be cheaper than the other products that are available to make water. I also like how you painted the tug. Great job on the diorama in my book.
As always a fantastic job. You're correct, the model looked like a toy but your paint job is amazing and transformed it into a masterpiece. Can't wait to see the diorama.
I'm very impressed on the way it came out, and perfect timing for this video! I am currently waiting for a few figures to make a diorama an I need water and wasn't sure how to make it, so this video really helped! Thanks
You're welcome. I recently made an another ship model of the HMS Belfast using the same technique. I invite you to watch that if you're interested. Thanks for watch my video.
Qdc great job on a pretty simple model! Revell models aren't always the best but I love what you did. Just goes to show what a simple model can be in the hands of a master. I've been watching your videos for a long time and have wanted to comment and couldn't hold off for this one. I just built an rc tug, the dumas jersey city, and have fallen in love with tugs. Thanks for the video.
I don't know how I came across your video but it was very entertaining! I used to build models as a child but watching this has inspired me to perhaps start doing it again. Your cat is highly glorious by the way.
Wow!! What a beautiful job again Q! It is amazing what you can do with with a little patience and look what happens. Your message to all modelers to build and have fun in doing so pays off, your living proof of that.As for the cat I had my feline companion for many years who would most be content to curl up in a box by my feet.Sad too say he passed away this past May. The box is still under my bench.
bob ahnert Thanks! My can loves attention! He always wants me to pet him all the time. When I get back home each day from a hard day at work, he's always there wanting to greet me and wanting me to pet him.
This is really great stuff QDC! I too thought the Tug looked a little too "toyish" but darn if you didn't make it come to life. Great water effects too. Well done my friend!
Excellent job QDC, came out looking great. You have a beautiful cat, but I think he would like some fish in the diorama. Thanks for the tutorial on making water. God bless all here
Dear qdc you always get better as modeler and as a tutor showing yourself more confident in front of the camera and behind that. Congrats for your work and to be as you are, professional and kind.
There was a short lived TV show called Great Lake Warriors. It's about Tug Boat Captains on the Great Lakes. I grew up with a view of Lake Michigan, and I use to watch the guys on that show when I was growing up. Great work on the project, awesome job on the diorama, and the tug boat.
Nicely done, it turned out really well. The plastic at first looked "soft", but it showed good detail after your painting and weathering. Your water was really good and looked simple to apply, I will have to try that. btw that's a cool cat
I am amazed that it (making water) works out this fine with material that is very cheap to get. I still have to do a number of dusty shipmodels, and I gathered some youtube videos which use very expensive and toxic material or expensive specialised "modeller" water material (which is expensive x squared). Above that , only available in the US(and not immediately recognizable for a similar product name in europe). What I like very much in your video is that you can always put extra layers of water over the old "wave" if you are not satisfied (unlike the expensive resins; once set = final). It's like mud modelling on tanks; not happy with the mud?; throw in more and other mudcolours for fraction of costs and little effort.. Speaking of which; I believe the bow wave could do with an extra layer. And maybe a tip for a splashing GI in the water; to put some cotton thread in the "wet" caulk(?) to model splashes of water.
Amazing! As always....incredibly done! You have inspired me to build a tugboat and make a water diorama also! It came out so cool! Great work! Cute cat by the way, lol.
lovely little model :) i hate it when the plastic is bright red or blue, it makes painting the thing so much harder and there is no benefit at all. however, you managed that well. the presentation of the the boat in its natural environment is the best choice, depicting water in scale is pretty tricky.
The model and the water turned out looking very realistic! I've always found the idea of making water intimidating but this method has piqued my interest. Thank you.
Awesome like always the water effect is so beautiful ! Very good job and thanks as always for the awesome video's and the dacht you always keep me hiped for the models have a nice day 😆
