Building Your Support Network After Weight Loss Surgery 

Hi Kaki! I have definitely been disappointed with my bariatric team, no post op support or resources so I’ve been on my own. That’s one thing I didn’t even think to ask about when I was in the pre op stages of my journey. I have looked to RU-vid for info from people like you and I’ve leaned on podcasts too and I’m so thankful for both of these resources. I really appreciate you sharing your journey with us because it’s been so helpful!

I told almost everyone I’m close to except for one friend who wouldn’t be supportive and thinks if I just ate the way some chiropractor says I wouldn’t have any health problems at all! Besides some online support, I see a licensed therapist who had a gastric bypass ten years ago. I see her remotely every other week. I started seeing her prior to my surgery weekly. After a few months I switched to every two weeks. I don’t remember which support group mentioned her, but I’m grateful.

I am so happy! I got my surgery date, June 4th. I have some of the best people that support me and I am so ready for my new way of life. My husband is thinking about having wls after he sees how I get along with it.
