Probably the best fishing video from you guys yet! I loved the surf music in there. I was shocked that Tuna landed that sizeable bull on a Yari!

Glad you enjoyed it Steve! We had planned on using Rocky rods the whole time. But whenever we go on these trips we end up setting up a few different rods. And as you saw in the video we fished hard all day so would end up switching up rods and Tuna just happened to hook into that nice bull on the Yari! We forgot our large green net also so I guess sometimes being unprepared helps.

Loved it. Thanks! Last year, I hooked 6 over 20". Always looking for the really nice ones like that. I have favorite spots in Oregon but would really like to get over to Idaho like you guys did. Great job!

I had a few moments which taught me some humility while fishing the Weber Yesterday. I had about five large German Browns hit my dry flies and for the life of me I could not net them. I lost them even though I had decent tension on the line. I realized with the larger fish I needed to keep my rod at a horizontal position. Plus, Take the time to cast in areas where I can move freely and move the rod at better angles. It hurt to lose those fish!!! However I gained a lot of experiences.

Thanks for sharing! Did they break the tippet or slip the hook? It always helps to try and point the butt of the rod at the fish that way you maintain that tension on the line but it will also give you control of the fish. Landing bigger fish definitely is a little bit tricky at first but you will get the hang of it!

Love the video & loved the explanation of how bull trout are an important, native trout species. They live in incredible places and need crystal clear, cold water so it's important we keep these places wild for the bull trout but also respect the fish and handle them with great care. Keep it up!

Glad you enjoyed it! Bull Trout are one of those species that has been on the decline for a long time and they just don't get talked about enough!

@@tenkararodco for sure. I live in Alberta, Canada and the bull trout is our provincial fish. They had long been the victim of overharvest and mass kill since the old motto used to be, "kill a bull trout; save a cutthroat". People used to pull 20+ out of a river in a day and leave them to die on the banks in the 20-70s. Now they're a sought after game fish and Alberta calls itself Bull Trout Country. Glad that mentalities have shifted but because of their need for crystal clear, cold headwater streams it's of the utmost importance we keep those places wild and cared for so they can keep thriving! Also not to fish for them during September when they're spawning!

Yes unfortunately these big mining companies put a lot of money into PR around stuff like this. The salmon and steelhead that get to this area travel 700 miles from the ocean and traverse numerous dams. Would hate to see them disappear! There have been a lot of people protesting the brisol bay pebble mine in recent years and seeing the progress on those conservation efforts get us excited about the possibility of conservation on the stibnite mining area. Just need more people to find out about it!

Im from Utah and hoping this is my first non Utah WNTI fish. I hear so much about their elusive nature. This makes me nervous and pumped at the same time. Best video in the series you guys keep it up.

Nervous and pumped is exactly how we feel every time we go after Bulls. Have definitely had unsuccessful trips but when it all comes together it makes it so much more rewarding!

I like my regular fly-fishing poles just fine... but Tenkara is just FAST and fun! Nice fishing! Very fun video; I liked the music, good choice!

Can the Teton Zoom handle a bull? 🤔 I know y’all have caught 20”+ trout on it before but not sure how much bigger than 20” haha

That bigger bull was caught on a Teton Zoom. That rod can definitely handle bigger fish. But the combination of a big fish with how fast the water was moving made it so tricky, we should have been using the Rocky!

That is the medium net. We really blew it on this trip by forgetting our big green net! For wet wading my go to setup is a pair of lightweight wading boots and a pair of neoprene socks.

I have a question, I grew up in southern Vermont and I recall my dad telling me about catching bull pout, is that the same fish just different name?

U guys r always entertaining! Bulls r on my list, think I'll have to get another Tenkara Rod just for bulls & bigger fish. What Rod do u guys recommend for 16" plus sz fish? Tight lines fellas, Steve @blackflycreations Utah✌️

Thanks for watching Steve! For bigger fish the Rocky rod is our go to. Can really handle anything and with a heavy tippet on there we have caught a lot of bigger fish on that rod.
