I have a feeling that the therapist isn't actually a therapist but a vought asset. A way to ensure that the other people in that room don't turn into other Billy Butcher's.
You'd think a counselor worth their salt would be able to tell when someone is beginning to act aggressive. Also, to not try and make someone share when they clearly don't want to.
Man, I'm living a tough moment in my life and Butcher's words really get me. I always try to justify other people actions that hurt me. But dammit, where is my f*cking self respect!
Amazing actor. I always thought he was part of the big league, and this scene proves it. He feels what he's saying. And boy, everyone (IRL) who ever feel that way know that this man, this actor, really live this speech. I salute you Mr Urban.
Homelander is great and Anthony Starr absolutely murdered the role there is no doubt but I will still stand by my word that Butcher is the greatest character in this series and Urban’s performance is severely overlooked. This monologue, this scene, the dialogue, the execution ITS PERFECT. You can feel Billy’s pain and sheer rage and how badly he wants to hurt someone who can’t be hurt, or even touched for that matter. How he wakes up every day walking beneath these gods who are nothing more than just scumbags while they still receive praise. How he lives in a world where there is superiority and a contrast and he wants nothing more than to kill all the supes. He says “where’s your self respect” “you should want to go after them with a chainsaw” and it’s perfect. This whole monologue is so powerful and truly why this series is a masterpiece.
He is right in the sense that they are rationalizing their powerlessness against powerful actors. That's different then psychologically working on accepting cancer, car accident, etc.
Is not about bulling . Jesus how someone cant understand this. Selfrespect, that group indeed dont have it and this is hole point . They think some meetings will solve problem but lack of self respect is their problem
