I have the same issue. Thought i had a bad oil cooler so i reolaced it. Car ran good, checked it a couple days later. Found brown stuff in the coolant again 🤦♂️ guessing its oil So now im thinking it must be a cracked head or worse cracked block.
And everyone laughs at my 2008 Kia Magentis but they soon stop when I tell them it has had no problems at all. It drives like it did from the showroom floor. So glad I kept the Kia and didn't trade it for a Cruze which almost happened.
I have the same car 2017 model in RSA, I have changed the oil cooler three times, the head was redone as well. It is still mixing coolant and oil in the coolant bottle....what is the actual issue???
the oil cooler is $260 on ebay that is how much the part is , and the most common failure was the oil cooler on these cars, many mechanics mistake the muddy water in resovoir as a blown head gasket, i just qouted a car as a second person someone bought one of these to me, where an overpriced bridgestone dealership tried telling the lady it was a blown head gasket and that they should now replace the motor at a cost of $4000 , needless to say i told the lady ditch these clowns and i will repair the car all inclusive for $500 with new coolant, new engine oil car was not overheathing or blowing smoke just had this mud in the resovoir, the guys at bridgestone must have got some stupid apprentice to diagnose the problem
I had 2014 holden cruze equipe usually redcoolant it has in radiator and coolant sink. But some i mixed 1 liter of green general purpose of coolant in the coolant sink with 4 liter of red coolant. Will that cause any problem to my car?
yes, 1st generation cruze original red coolant is GM dex cool which is corrosive and reactive with green coolant for sure. Total flush required. DO NOT USE DEX COOL COOLANT ANYMORE.
This is the exact same engine as in the Vauxhall Insignia - i have the 1.8 model and just did the oil cooler on my driveway. the part from ebay was £36 and it took me about 2 hours to fit...where the F does this guy get $512 dollars from?
the part is $260 on ebay, i live eastern brisbane and i am a mobile mechanic if you were close the whole job i would do for $500 includes labour, includes new coolant new oil new oil cooler, however i doubt i will hear from you, most people expect others to get cuts and bruises when working on cars and that work on their cars done for free , as if living in some sort of parralell universe
you need to find the thermostat housing, remove the thermostat which is usually where the top hose on the radiator joins the block remove the thermostat and top radiator hose and do a reverse flush of your radiator, you can also buy radiator flush, you can also remove the header tank and thouroughly clean it out
I would never buy a car like these my sister in law still has it so she had it too much issue with this car so I don’t think she’s gonna sell it to somebody and for everyone I’m not recommend it To buy a car like this. VW nice care
If you buy a genuine holden oil cooler you will pay $500 with 1 year warranty, buy 1 on eBay for $100-$150 and 5 years warranty. Tell me Holden stealerships didn't try taking everyone for a ride !!!
This car is rubbish i will never buy or advice anyone to buy holden car.i bought this car brand new 2010 and it cost me 8000 dollars in 6 years. twice transmission replaced which is 3000×2 and now coolant mix with oil. And engine make unusual noise . This time i rather Chuck in the bin than wasting my money.
Yes transmission subject to conditions of use but trust me these cars go all the time a friend yesterday had a Holden Captiva transmission go for the second time the cars got 40000 kilometres on it I don't understand the issue but they really r unreliable. But regarding astra with Saab auto they were bulletproof in my experience. It's the Korean GM's that r really bad
This model specifically had a fault with the transmission they had in place in the car. Not a recall but I’d taken to a golden dealer it should be replaced for free as it is 100% faulty. At least in my experience. Also front breaks had a recall and more than likely a airbag recall too. Piece of junk car we just had the engine fail in ours... never again.
