Interesting points about the lofts in these. What’s the loft on the SW? Would seem weird to have a SW much stronger than 56. Thanks for your review.

The sw in the set is 56 you will need to other wedges to fill the gap they do an a wedge and a g wedge before you get to the sw by the time you put a lob wedge in the set you are going to be carrying 5 wedges.

I hit a Ball with my new Mavrik 5 iron......immediately caught a plane to N.Y. When I got off the plane...my ball came flying in 5 minutes later.

A Mavrik vs sim iron review and what’s better iron ???
@KevinDelaneyPGA
@KevinDelaneyPGA 4 года назад
No problem I will try and get some sim irons to test. But a question for you what makes a better iron distance or dispersion or are you looking for something else?

I mainly would go with what has better spin rate I’m not to worried bout distance as much and which one feels better

Spin rate is all about what works best for the individual and Thule of ball has a big influence. For me feel has to be most important I think it’s important not to get seduced by the numbers that you think new irons can give you when the lofts that they put on the clubs can in effect give you a distorted opinion about distance.

Strangely the lofts are stronger in the Standard Mavrik compared to the MAX version. 7 iron in the Standard has a loft of 27 degrees, whereas in the Max it is weaker at 30 degrees. The lofts on the Max are more in line with the Pro version. So based on this the Standard version will go further than the Max. Based on the lofts it looks like the Standard is aimed at super game improvement and the Max is aimed at game improvement. Looks like the clubs have been named the wrong way round with those with lofts

Completely agree I didn’t realise when I filmed the video the diffence in the loft between the two clubs. The max is the easier to hit, more off set bigger profile but the standard is strong lofted and you will need to carry more wedges in my opinion 27 degree is to strong for a 7 iron for a majority of golfers.

Maybe because the players who MAX is aimed at usually have slower swing speeds and therefore need more loft to be able to get the ball up in the air. Which also gives them a chance to stop the ball on the green.

Maybe, the max is still strong lofted in comparison to what a 7 iron used to be but more in line with what other manufacturers are doing now.

"Max" is referring to maximum forgiveness, so this is the model in the line that offers the most game improvement, not the "standard" model. Max has a larger sole, overall size (but not by much), more offset, and more loft to help get the ball air born. This is especially helpful for players with poor mechanics, or slow club head speed. So names are correct but seems that a lot of people can't get their head around this. I own the Mavrik ("standard" one) and they are the easiest irons to hit that I have ever had. Yes, long, but also high ball flight from the tungsten sole inserts, good feel and sound (microspheres seem to be working). Key IMO, is to get the GW and AW so you have proper gapping in the scoring irons because your mid and long irons are going to be longer by 1 to 1 1/12 clubs. The only non-Mavrik iron in my bad is therefore a 56* sand wedge.
