Cool idea love cutting the notch with a pruning saw and these can be done with a prunung saw and an aul on a penknife in the woods without a drill or vice but as you at home with a vice might aswell use them
Brilliant Des, nice one. Definitely going to making myself a 'pimped' toggle with the beak notch. A really innovative and useful little camp (or shed) project. Good to hear the old 'TFTS' theme tune too 😂 And thank you for the shout out and kind words, really appreciate it, made my day that has 🙏 All the best mate, Elliott.
Thanks for sharing! You reminded me I need to make a toggle to hang my pack on a tree trunk or branch when there’s no little bits sticking out to do the job. Putting a nick in one end makes it even more useful 👍🏻
Drill 3 holes... 1 one one half of the toggle, and two spaced out on the other half of the toggle... Use the one with cord, and a overhand knot... Use the other two as your tensioner by going in one and out of the other... 3 is better than 2...
I don't think you realise the FULL uses of that double holed TOGGLE. You have made yourself a Robert's Toggle (yeah, a bit of self promotion seeing as you gave it someone else .) It doesn't matter how far off to the side you place your hole/cordage, if your bottle is full (I did it in a glass wine bottle), your Toggle, especially if WILLOW will float on the water and you'll have a real job trying to get it out especially whilst the container/bottle is hot.
