Our second RV camping experience as a Harvest Hosts member went beyond our expectations. We know of no other way to camp inside an alpaca ranch just steps from the alpaca pens! Not only that, but our hosts at High Country Alpaca Ranch were incredibly gracious giving us electric and water hookups as well as providing satellite internet all completely free!
Our hosts took us inside the alpaca pens so we could meet, feed, and even pet the alpacas. We learned that each animal has a distinct personality - some friendly, some shy, some boisterous and assertive. We were also shown their mercantile store where they have clothing made from alpaca wool. Many of the products are imported from Peru, however they do offer a selection of products made from wool off the alpaca on site!

Oh, thank you for taking us along on this wonderful alpaca adventure! They are absolutely adorable.... wish I could hug one! David definitely chose well with his choice of alpaca socks. I have several pairs I take along camping in extra cold climates. Only remember to put them on BEFORE his feet get cold. It’ll take longer to warm them otherwise!

I've been wondering if y'all ever did Harvest Hosts; it seems like such a wonderful program! And visiting the alpaca ranch is one of the HH destinations we've been interested in - we aren't much on breweries or vineyards or golf courses, so learning about a place like this really is appealing! Having a goat farm myself... Great Pyranees are wonderful lgd's and many (I personally dont) shave them down for their coat (fur) as well as alpacas and spin into yarn. Their dense fur is as valuable here as sheep/lama/alpaca wool. Didn't know if you knew that. Not commonly known.

I had no clue that you could do that and how fun to really meet some wonderful people who feel about the way that you do about the land and about taking in all the wonder that is to be seen.. seeing you guys feed them I had a huge smile on I couldn't help it it was so Amazing and they all look like they are smiling at you... I so love the beany hat you got, Jenni, and to know that you met the one and can share a real bond with.. you can't do that most time and to see it and feel it makes it all more real💖 and the socks that David got look so comfy🤗 This was an amazing find and thank you for sharing it was really fun... love you guys💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

Harvest Host is awesome and if you love to go to interesting venues and like to "boon dock", this is an awesome service. We stay primarily at wineries and breweries but I see there are plenty of smaller farms like this one as well as museums and other interesting venues.

randomly heading north from City of Rocks I was asking around a town for a place to stay the night, someone mentioned I could stay at an Alpaca Farm close by....yup same one. I stayed at next to the bunk house. Good people, their dog kept me and my cat company for awhile

for the record for others, if you are not a member of harvest host or boondockers welcome they will ask for $20 for the night which is fair. I would have anyway because I came unexpected and after 5pm

Did you figure out the difference between llamad and alpacas?? I live here in camelid country! There are vicunas and guanacos up north from me that live in the wild! Thats how llamas and alpacas were bred mixing the two wild breeds and domesticated them. Cool?

Hi guys! Love this video! Such great animals and a great destination! I am back in WV as have to put in a driveway and put a roof on my mountain hideaway. Will get back on the road to VT mid June. Still catching up on your videos but glad to see you are having a great time! Later and best to you both and all the critters. Oh yeah, I stayed 10 days at my cousins in NC working with him at his small RV Park and enjoyed his two big Main Coon kitties his wife has. The road is always an adventure!!! Dave

Typically hosts don't mind if you stay a few days. Always call ahead and ask though since it is at their discretion. Our hosts here allowed us to stay 3 days and said more would be fine if we wanted.
