If you have a parent, sibling, aunt/uncle or another family member living in Australia, they may be able to sponsor your visa to live and work in Australia. However, there are very limited options to when a family member can sponsor your visa.

Family Sponsored - Subclass 491 Visa
This visa is probably the most common visa for family sponsored visas. The visa is an open 5 year work visa that converts to permanent residency.
The problem with this visa is that:
- There is a very low number of these visas issued each year. Consequently, these are very difficult to obtain.
- Plus your relative must live in a regional area. If your family member lives in a major city, then they cannot sponsor your visa.
- You must pass a skill assessment in an occupation on the MLTSSL
- The visa is points tested
Who can sponsor:
- 18 years old or older
- usually resident in a designated area of Australia
- be an Australian citizen, an Australian permanent resident, or an eligible - New Zealand citizen
be your or your partner’s eligible relative
An eligible relative can be:
- a parent
- a child or step-child
-a brother, sister, adoptive brother, adoptive sister, step-brother or step-sister
- an aunt, uncle, adoptive aunt, adoptive uncle, step-aunt or step-uncle
- a nephew, niece, adoptive nephew, adoptive niece, step-nephew or step-niece
- a grandparent
- a first cousin
There are a very limited number of 491 Family Sponsored visas issued every year. The demand far outweighs the supply. On top of this, the 491 visa is points tested and you must pass a skill assessment in a relevant occupation before you can apply.
On the other hand, applicants who apply for the hand 491 - State Nominated Stream, often receive an invitation with as much fewer points.

My cousin living in Pakeham, Victoria more than 5 years. If I pass SA for ICT BA, can my sister sponsor me to live there? She is a citizen. One more question, her mother is sister of my mother. So am I a first cousin of my sister now? And if I study in Melbourne CBD before applying this visa, and her husband works in CBD. Is it fine for this visa?

It completely depends on how many points you have on when you will receive an invite.

For family sponsored or skilled independent, not really. For state or regional sponsored it definitely matters a lot!

Hey, I had done bachelor's in civil engineering from india and I had experience of around 6 months in my field. I have my maternal uncle (my mom's real brother) in Perth who is citizen of Australia from last 10 years. I had calculated my points in 491 family sponsorship visa and my points was 90 if I achieve 8 each band ( superior english) and get family sponsorship 15 point. So in this case, do I get the invitation for 491 from india?

Hi, yes there are family sponsored visitor visas. But you may just be able to apply for a standard visitor visa - tourist stream

I have questions,my sister have 4child, she remarried ,she only bring 2 child with her settled in Australia they already PR in Australia,but she never claim the two other child because her ex husband bring the two other child with him after they divorced,but now her ex husband leaving the two other child alone and become homeless in her country,they still under age 12 and 13 year old .. their ex husband doesn't care about the child anymore and no responsibility ,no close family and no body take care of them right now..my sister want to bring them here but she dont know how.. because she scare when she applied for them visa can impact her visa ..do you have any idea or other way to bring them to Australia? If she provided incorrect information on her initial visa and did not inform immigration of her children, I think this could have an impact on her visa.
