I'm perfectly fine and happy with shop noise in the background. The shop I work in primarily handles minor car repairs so the shop tends to be really quiet with nothing but the sounds of fans and heaters to make noise unless I'm working on a bus. I find having videos like this in the background not only helps with white noise requirements but educational as well despite working on small Cummins.

Before five star, we would put our cylinder pack puller in a bucket of oil dry to absorb any fluids on the rubber. We also added one inch on the stand to make sure the liner was completely out of three oring liners. When Cat first came out with the cylinder pack puller. I had a cab over 3406 mechanical I was in-framing. The cab was laid over with a come along to help support it. The stand was not part of the tooling yet, just a eye lit. So I put the eye lit on, hooked a chain to the puller and hoisted the pack up. The front tire started coming off the ground. The liner released, truck came down and bounced. Cab moved up, come along unhooked. Cab went down and bottomed the cylinders out and John messed up a good pair of under wear.

I've noticed on a much cheaper digital torque wrench that does angle it will start counting degrees when you begin to load up the mechanism even if the bolt hasn't started moving yet so I think it is accurate if you can do your degree sweep in one motion but when you start and stop it will come up short
@rickyj2013
@rickyj2013 Год назад
I’ve found that with the techangle when you need to stop and use the ratchet feature mid-turn it becomes less accurate because it starts counting before the bolt starts turning. If you can do it in one fell swoop it seems much more accurate.
@brentowen9480
@brentowen9480 10 месяцев назад
I'll check that out. I do automotive and and Subaru HG's are a pain using marks. I think the degree's don't equal 30 60 or 90 either. Got the 1/2" Snappy and made life easier, I've checked the angle with marks and thought they were maybe 5 degrees or less short.

Ive found with the torque angle on any big name torque wrench, when you have to ratchet it, aka not achieving the angle in one continuous pull, it can be off. Idk why that is, but just from my experience. My snapon one, if i can get it in a single pull, it’s very accurate.

Yeah noise is fine I would say you extension is causing the torque wrench to be off the mechanical connection between the extension the torque wrench and the socket I'd say add 3° to the 90° that may take up the difference plus I'm sure that snap-on recalibrates those once or twice a year I believe

My Snap-On tech angle 1/2" drive torque wrench turned itself off if I couldn't make the angle in one pull every time, Snap-On took it back several times but never got to the bottom of the issue, interestingly the last time they had it back when it was returned it was a completely different torque wrench in both appearance and operation to the original but still bore the same model number, different serial number, its been 100% reliable since then in several years of use in all orientations. Through the grapevine I've heard that some of the Tech Angle torque wrenches can be a bit twitchy, since the initial issue was resolved I've been very satisfied with mine. Kind regards from the UK 🇬🇧 ❤️🇺🇲

On the turn I mark them like you do and then break out the impact especially under an engine. I haven't seen or heard of any reason that bolt cares how it gets to the turn. My first experience with torque turn was in 1970 on the v8 in a cat 651b scraper. We had 13 651s that we had to pull the soft plugs and clean the centrifuged dirt out. The specs that came with the cat service builtin were to throw away the pal nuts and go torque turn. I didn't run into Cummins with torque until some time in the 90s

@briansmyla8696 Год назад
I don't understand why you need a special tool to pull the liners. When I rebuilt my C12, I pushed the pistons out the top of the liners and removed them, then knocked the liners out from the bottom with a block of wood and a hammer. One tap, and they're out. Much faster and easier. And cheaper, since you don't have to buy the special tool.

good afternoon friend, I'm from Brazil and I follow your channel because you do an excellent job, congratulations, but with my few years working with mechanics I learned that the angular torque must be given at once and without ratcheting the wrench, because that's it single torque movement that makes the screw leave the elastic phase for the plastic phase, generating better thread locking.

I have noticed with my TechAngle torque wrenches, when in angle mode, will start to count angle when I begin applying torque but the fastener has not rotated yet. I deduced this is not as accurate as an angle gauge but I have built many automotive engines using my TechAngle torque wrenches, so as a flat rate tech, it’s good enough. Thanks for pointing it out. 👍

I'd definitely have your dealer get it checked out. Especially since it's that new. Torque wrenches only have a 1 year warranty. My split beam 1/2" torques accuratly, but the adjuster moves slightly with each click and I have to reset it about every 5 clicks. Very annoying. Shop sounds don't bother me as long as it doesn't drown out what you're saying or blows out the mic.

I thought that was a good price. Anyway great info as always. 😂🤟 Cat loves their proprietor specialized tooling, don't they. Thing is they work.😎
