When I was in Japan, it seems like a lot of middle-aged men similar to him talked to me with that kind of intonation... I always assumed they were just being extra expressive so I would understand better, but maybe that's just a personality type 🤣🤣

Being a western anime fan, it's cool to see how differently anime is perceived and spread in Japan. Anime/educational shows like Cells at Work being in textbooks and used as study material is extremely rare in, for instance, the US. And though there were only a few participants in this quiz, it seems Renai Circulation is not as recognizable in Japan as it is internationally, along with Elfen Lied.
The fact that Renai Circulation has been streamed more than 56 million times on Spotify as I'm writing this comment clearly shows that this OP is much more famous outside of Japan (legal music streaming services are much less popular in Japan compared to the rest of the world, in fact, Spotify wasn't available in Japan until 2016!).
ikr kinda sad it's not that popular outside japan I love precure too! I remember watching the first season when I was a kid and I still watch the series even today! My favorite season right now is healin' good precure

I heard that 33% of Japanese watch anime and 41% don't watch anime...idk if 33% is a small number (I suck at math) but maybe that's why also, Japanese elders/adults don't really watch a lot of anime as teenagers/kids do shows like pretty cure, detective Conan both are very popular in Japan but not in the west (sadly, cause they are both very good series that definitely need more attention). Even other shows like Sazae-san, Chibi Maruko-chan, and Doraemon are popular over there among the older people.
@@AnimeBlaze-qi4jx most of them actually read manga and animes are rated when it's going to be aired on tv and a lot of them where aired late at night and not treated like the way other countries treat anime like cartoons and thinks it for kids when it's not

The older gentleman was a really good sport about the whole thing, despite not getting a single one. LOL I'm surprised he didn't get One Piece, considering that it was the original OP song, which is over 20 years old and very iconic. And he even listed that among his favorites.
Elfen Lied is one of the most dramatic anime I've ever watched. I didn't see it as erotic but its surely grotesque. I didn't expect that it would be on the list and it is surely difficult since its not your typical shounen/shoujo anime.
@@nathanmerritt1581i guess a bit of it has flown around but not too much. A bit surprised so little know about Monogatari when Monogatari is actually really popular in Japan. Like if you are Japanese in order to be an otaku, you need to watch it.
When I heard the bells for Elfen Lied I just got goosebumps from it. The ending from anime and manga are supeeeer fricking different and it scarred my heart for life for reading the manga 🙃
Funnily enough elfen lied was the only one i could name right away with just the first portion playing. I watched it about 15 years ago but the song is so unique it immediately came to mind when i heard the gong.

I like how I happened to only know the most difficult and obscurest opening of them all. That and Lucky Star, even though I've never seen it. Elfen Lied is one of the few anime openings that is most memorable even if you can't remember its source of origin. Can't be said for most anime, though.
@@nurhusni Its not abomination, rough edges yes. Abomination heck no.. all the epic, sad and emotional moments translate very well in the anime and for those reason and a few others it's good.
1. Got this one wrong - I've literally never watched one piece and don't plan on it 2. Got this one right - Evangelion was noticable cuz of all the memes despite the fact I've never watched it 3. Got this one wrong - Literally never heard of this one in my life 4. Got the one wrong - Didn't get this one but I did enjoy the anime 5. Got this one right - As soon as I heard it I knew I've heard it so vividly before, but I needed the 2nd part to guess it was Re:Zero 6. Got this one wrong - I've heard of it, but never watched it 7. Got this one wrong - I knew the name of the song due to all the memes, but didn't know the show name since I haven't yet watched the monogatari series 8. Got this one wrong - Heard the song in memes and I think I vaguely recall seeing the name Lucky Star in one of the videos after they said the answer, but I've never actually watched the anime 9. Got this one wrong - Only heard of the anime, never actually watched it
Surprisingly, I knew about half of them. But I am a western fan and sounds like a lot of these were tailored to what's popular here. The reactions were hilarious and surprisingly. Great video!
