Finland's first win over Canada in 12 years takes it to the gold-medal game against Sweden. It was the most lop-sided in U20 history for the Finns vs. Canada.
Tough loss for Canada, but good for Finland! They don't get much credit in the media. At least not over here in the States. Good luck to everyone in the medal games!
+CaptainMazda I love this tournament and international hockey in general. As bummed out as I was, I don't want to see the same team winning it all every year.
I like canada but I hate their "hockey is our game" attitude. NO, its not your fuckin game. Hockey is for everyone. And international hockey is becoming more and more tight so its not a big suprise that finland won canada but lost to switzerland
Sorry bud you are mistaken. Hockey is our game as in we invented the sport, its our national sport and almost every kid has played some form of it Ice, ball, street or floor. Its not arrogance its pride.
Firstname Lastname well almost every1 in finland also have played it. maybe you invented the game but it doesnt mean that you are alaways the best at it
Daniel Z Come on dude. In Finland we have only 5,5 million citizen. Russia 142 million, Canada 33,5 Million, Sweden 9,5 Million. Still, we are able to fight relatively well.
Shocker. As a Finn I'm quite surprised that team Finland managed to play this well. I expected Canada to crush us. Good luck for the bronze game, Canada!
Good job Finland, the better team won. Canada has nothing to be ashamed about, those kids gave it their best. I guess we'll see you in the olympics Go Canada Go!!!!
Sucks how I'm going to miss both gold and bronze medal games to play for my team:( Any place where I can watch re runs other than NHL network? I have to go to school so I can't always watch them.
Et ole selvästi Finski. As a Canadian supporter you should know, the game lasts 60 minutes. I defenitely agree with the referees. Something good is, when Hockey started in Finland in -26 it's been since one of the favourite sports, between Running and Crosscountry Skiing.
Why does everyone make such a big deal about olympic sized ice the arena in my town has an NHL size rink and an Olympic rink so we go back and forth and we dont even notice the size, and we play bantam AA
MetalFusionVideos And I, as a jokerit fan am kind of sad to see him go :D Nah, it's great to see such a good player succeed. He will do great in the Hawks. :)
Zachary Fucale did not that well in this game. But i think, without that stupid penalty and the EN-goal, the numbers would have been 3-1. Very strongly done by the finns. But don't forget about respect, Canada were strong and did their best. I'll hope that Canada will win 2017 on home ice again. Good luck ;)
Drouin was terrible, all he did was try and deke through the whole Finnish team while the rest of our players just stood and watched him. No wonder he's not playing in the NHL yet, because he still has a lot to learn about teamwork.
Hi, Canada. Russia wants to play the game with you... Hi, Canada. Russia wants to play the game with you ... in general, the Finns simply well done. I'm in shock. Finland had an excellent game. Good luck to the Finns in the final.
Firstname Lastname Canada has way more hockey players than any other nation, and both Finland and Sweden lost multiple key players to injuries during the Olympics. Very different conditions.
wow.. could the refereeing be anymore lopsided? Elbowing at 4 minutes? The fin was basically bent in half shoving his head in front of the elbow..and at 5:03 how did that Canadian fall on the ice? But 5:32.. clearly playing the puck and called for tripping? Possibly the biggest tournament of the year, the IIHF should be embarrassed by the quality of their refs, I remembered why I've basically almost stopped paying attention to these things.
MarsLanding91 HipsHyde Who's crying? calls are never 100% fair in any game, stop enabling terrible reffing. Stop the video at exactly 5:26 I see two canadian sticks, both attempting to play the puck and more or less touching it, neither one making any obvious attempt to trip the guy. He basically trips up trying to step over the sticks. The Canadian from behind sticks his stick between his legs, but his legs are wide, and he absolutely touches the puck. Not his fault the guy closes his legs and trips over the stick. He doesn't trip the guy before touching the puck. Contact was made with the puck first. As for the other calls, well I only saw what was in this video, but as usual, sub-par officiating. There will come a day when crappy officials are finally called to task for their shoddy work. I have no idea why some consider them untouchable, but bad officiating ruins games, and ruins fan's interest. Making excuses for them and pretending it doesn't happen won't make it go away.
Look somewhere the start of the game where canadians holds finnishplayers sticks all of the time. Somepoint finnish player got penalty because of canadian holds finnshplayer stick and falls.
Vaazu33 Unless it's in this video, I haven't seen it, as I mentioned initially due to the continuing level of officiating and head in the sand attitude of the IIHF, I have very little interest in actually following this, or any other tournament, and investing myself in it. Someone linked it, so I thought I'd check out just how it was that the Canadians lost to the Fins for the first time.
What about the after whistle highsticking for Finland? Canadian was acting it, did not even hit on the face!! Look the whole game and then come here saying how it was.
hockey CANADA did a piss poor job on picking the roster for this team we deserve a loss like that we didnt even deserve a win for the game vs the US, but we did pull it off where was
Oh well. We'll take our 3 Olympic gold medals in the last 12 years. :D Myers is brutal. He should never have been on this team, and he directly gave the game to Finland. Finland should've sent many gifts to Tyler Myers after this game.
Since you’re comment, we’ve won Olympic gold, World Championship gold and World Junior Championship gold. So it hasn’t been that bad, has it? In the last three men’s competitions, Finland has gotten 🥇🥈🥇, Sweden 5th, 9th, 4th.
