Candler Park A Neighborhood in Transition, is a documentary produced in 1980 that explores neighborhood change in a downtown Atlanta neighborhood. The film was produced by Robert G. Fishman, Ph.D. who was on the faculty of Georgia State University at the time and the university's Media Department.
Based on research conducted by Dr. Fishman over a 3 year period, the film effectively explores perception of neighborhood change as perceived by representatives of the various segments of the neighborhood population. The film looks at how neighborhood groups create images that sell the idea of community to potential residents. The result of this process is to slowly transform the area.
