Canned plain vegetables can become less that appetizing after a bit and while there are things we can do after we take them out of the jars that will "spice" them up a bit why not do it in the jar.
This recipe, which came from Tessie at "Homestead Tessie Simple Mobile Home Living," is one that we have really come to enjoy. Check out her channel, she has done some really great things from budgeting to self reliance.
The BBQ Beans make a great side dish and with BBQ season upon us it is nice to be able to pull out a new recipe.
In this video I used:
4 pints of green beans cut in about 1 inch pieces
2 cups brown sugar
2 cups of ketchup
1/2 onion but more would be better
1/2 cup prepared yellow mustard
2 tsp salt
Mix all of the ingredients together and pack into pint jars. Put the snap lids and the rings on the jars after you have cleans the rims of the jars. I use a Nesco small batch canner but this method could be used for any pressure canner. Put the recommended amount of water in the canner and place the jars on the wire rack inside the canner. Close the lid and adjust your pressure valve to the manufacturers recommendation. Pressure cook pints for 30 minutes. I let them cool completely in the canner and then remove the rings from the jars for storage.
