Ok I hope this isn't too much but the way you two are with each other is so respectful. IT makes watching you even more engaging because your interaction is genuine but not too over the top. Also you both have amazing taste. I've only just started watching and you guys have shown the most interesting patterns I've ever seen; complex but wearable, classy patterns. As a sweater knitter, it's like the great library of Alexandria here. Thank you!

I just want to say to everyone who watches Fruity Knitting that you really should become a patron. Just think of all the money you WASTE everyone month, and that comes down to even buying food that spoils and ends up in the trash. That's $ you are throwing away. To contribute even the smallest amount will keep this show on the internet and as an amazing resource for all of us. (Disclaimer: I don't know A+A and I am posting this on my own.) Thank you A+A. Your show is the best!

This was your best episode ever. I loved Tatiana’s beautiful lace dresses. I think I shall make one. Carol Feller is my favorite designer. Her info was much appreciated. I’ve been a patron for a while now. I’m afraid I’ve cancelled my magazine subscriptions and decided to view your RU-vid “magazine”. I’m so glad you decided to continue.

Hi Andrew and Andrea, I found your podcast after hearing about the lady from Shetland that knitted her own fence and I wanted to know more about Shetland style and found your podcast. Although I'm a crocheter not a knitter I love listening to your podcast. This year I have started making clothes for myself and your podcast has inspired me to think outside the box with my designs and also the beauty in simple colourwork and changing the patterns to suit my body rather than just following the pattern I'm using. Also to find out in this episode you have a CAL I'm very excited to check it out. And I love listening to your accent. I live in NZ now and to hear your Aussie accent come through is so relaxing to me. Reminds me of home.

I am so thankful for your wonderful podcasts, and always have a dilemma as to eek out the show, or watch in in one go. This week, I went for one go, as I truly love Carol Feller after learning about her on Craftsy. I have some of her books, and patterns and read her blog faithfully. Olga's dresses and sense of dress architecture and fearless knitting is awesome. The segment of #extremeknitting with your lovely daughter in Fairy Glen was refreshing. I always tell people that your podcast is like flipping through a magazine, with a variety of features that I never knew would delight me so much. Truly, Andrew and Andrea, your podcast is a highlight of my life, and I mean that from the depth of my heart. Good luck with your projects. Andrew, you might be interested in the way pleats are formed with cardboard molds and steamed into shape. I have watched a you tube video of the way they prepare fabric for some of the couture houses. I just wish they would show the engineers who plan the cardboard molds. Thank you, thank you and thank you for your stellar work. I'm off to pick some patterns from Carol's Ravelry page.

Ok, I thought I could get some knitting done while watching this podcast ... NO WAY! First, I'm constantly pausing to look-up books and patterns and yarns. While watching the first Carol Feller episode, it was so interesting to follow her construction explanations that I made a mistake in my knitting, and while I was knitting backwards to recover from that, I got to the segment with Tatyana Carr when I recognized her and one of her dresses ... I spoke with her this weekend during the Houston Fiber Fest! ... Andrew and Andrea, I'm sending you the biggest WOW possible for your amazing podcasts!

For what it's worth, onscreen I find the darker green to be the lovelier choice. It highlights the colorwork beautifully without too stark a contrast from my vantage point. I hope you are thrilled with your results no matter which you ultimately choose. Your knitting is so beautiful!

I met Tatiana at the Houston Fiber Fest last weekend. She was wearing her acorn dress, it is absolutely stunning! This episode, as with all others, was so beautiful and educational. I enjoyed all the different sections, the folding satellite panels, to the hand dying technique, to the different short row uses. I look forward to seeing the results when after July when you will be more rested. Thank you for a wonderful hour and half!

Wow!!!!!!! An outstanding episode. I really appreciated the short row discussion with Carol. I've never really understood pros and cons of the various method. I'm getting her book to learn more. I am also excite by the upcoming KAL. I've been considering a large challenging project and this is awesome timing! I'm also interested in looking at Carol's KALs. And I love her recognition of the unpredictable nature of knitting and designing. It's what I've loved about it as well. I'm 69 years ago and love that knitting continues to teach me new things and present new adventures for me! Thank you for helping make that possible as well!

If Madeleine would like one of Tatyana's lace creations, it would be a good idea to start sooner rather than later...2 years might not even be enough time to finish! Andrew, I just love the way your brain works. Your explanation of the Miura fold was brilliant. And I agree that the KAL should have "scary" in the title. Maybe Andrea's last comment "Being Scared is Good" KAL. For me it's cables so I'm off to look for one that seems scary enough. Carol Feller and short rows...WOW; I have her book but her explanation made it even easier to understand. HUgs and thanks for another enjoyable and excellent podcast.

Of course you can sit there in a beautiful lace dress and edit! Why not?! ;-) Do what you love and wear wonderful clothes for yourself, because you deserve it, you deserve to treat yourself with what you love and surround yourself with it, wear it etc. When not now, then when? Don`t loose another minute of your life! Every minute is prescious! :-) I used to grow up in a katholic and very traditional german family, where one had their every day clothing and their sunday best. Those times are over! Nowadays I wear my stuff, even my "best", even when I just leave the house to go to the supermarket! It makes me feel great. And when I am at home, I do not wear raggedy things either anymore. I got ridd of all of those old jogging pants and oversized sweaters. Nowadays I am wearing "lounge wear", haha, no joking guys. After I lost so many loved ones to sickness and got sick myself in 2015, overcoming RA eventually by a complete lifechange and food change, I also started to treat myself better with my dressing habits. Now I just want to shout out to all of you out there: "Live in the present moment, for there is no other moment and follow your heart, love yourselves and treat yourselves good. ... P.S. Tatjana`s dresses are wonderful. Now, that would definetly be a "bucker challenge" for me, lol, or should I say a "Scary KAL Challenge" ;-)

I am always so confused when it comes to choosing a yarn substitute for an old pattern. In this instance the pattern calls for “knit one, crochet too” Ambrosia yarn with a gauge of 6 st per inch on US size 5 needles. I found a yarn that is similar but the gauge is 6 st per inch on US size 3 needles. Isn’t that a pretty big difference? Is there a way to calculate the difference? Every time I run into this (constantly!) I feel like doing ANYTHING but knit. Can you help?
@peggyisme
@peggyisme 5 лет назад
The best thing to do is a swatch, Some yarns like knit 1 crochet too and Jamieson's is they are just slightly different than average. you can use yarn sub to find alternatives yarnsub.com/yarns/knit_one_crochet_too/ambrosia
@teresepratt6036

Tatanya's lace dresses are beautiful! However, for me it is much faster to crochet with that weight thread than to knit. Also much simpler to make alterations to. One of my daughters found the perfect expensive gown for her wedding in 5 months, then could just barely squeeze into the gown when it was the wedding date. Thank goodness the satin dress had large seams! Maybe you should put your crocheted blanket to one side and start crocheting something beautiful for your daughter? How many crocheter agree with me that crocheting a dress would be faster than knitting it?

Myak yarn is amazing for not pilling. Alice Starmore Hebridean 3ply is also one of my favourites. Andrew has just started using John Arbon Devonia DK which is also looking very good (as to not pilling). The Rowan felted tweed is also fantastic and wears really well. @@@hazeldonner1855 - Maybe you should make something with a steek for this KAL. Make a colorwork jumper into a cardigan? Or try brioche for a throw or jumper. An Icelandic shawl or baby blanket with lots of nupps. A blanket or shawl with a knitted on edging. I think it could be a technique you've tried but still aren't completely comfortable with or a combination of such techniques.

Andrea, if I were in your situation, I'd go shop for another green. The lighter green is too light, and I'd be very concerned about the silken material being too stretchy, particularly since you will be making the whole yoke with it. The dark is too dark, I agree with others. A green in between the two that you have would be right.

I love the show and hate to criticize but I must tell you I HATE short rows. I have done some but seeing that in patterns, I will just choose another pattern. It makes me feel sick at my stomach to see a pattern calls for short rows, when I KNOW that stair step decreases work well for shoulders for instance. I am knitting for my own enjoyment so why spend your time doing a technique that you despise? I wish designers knew it turns people off. Also I loved the Fairy Glen but want to see you and Andrew and Jack, not Madeline. No problem with her but YOU are the stars ! Also want to see more of Jack. Thank you so much!
@hazeldonner1855
@hazeldonner1855 5 лет назад
You really don’t understand short rows. You must join the technique KAL. Short rows are NOT there to stop the step in a shoulder although it can be used there. It is to expand an area of knitting, say around the bust, without making the shape of the garment longer or too large around the body. It can create beautiful rounded shapes when knitting.
@candicevee1
@candicevee1 5 лет назад
You might try the german short rows. Everything new seems scary at first. German short rows are simple and can be used to knit shapes you couldn’t make otherwise. Have you tried socks? One you make a pair, you’ll feel so accomplished.
