teddywood1 Hi. I’m 53 and over here in Italy we grew up modifying vespas... one of mine was simply 50 CC originally BUT “ after “ it reached 145 KM x hour..,. We were crazy ack then, we only modified engines, exhausts etc.... Nothing was done on the breaks, frames etc.... Impossible to stop it. 🤣
Back in the day the clutch was always the weak link on my 225 with its Dellorto VHB30AS how do you guys manage? in the end I fitted a 10 spring clutch which was a shit to use. Paul
I always get knocked down by asking about stronger clutch and brake cables, probably because they don't exist; but with this amount of power I would be scared of my cables wearing down or even breaking under this load. My clutch cable broke where the trunnion meets the clutch arm on a bridge and had to walk my bike to the shoulder and flat bed it to a garage. I also fear my piston rings blowing through when I'm on a straightway, bridge or highway and holding the high RPM's for long periods; I periodically engage the clutch and give a few revs to free it up. Anyone have any tips to aid my issue?
There's been some seriously clever engineering gone in to this thing!! My Rb 22 has 30 hp at the back wheel but this 305 is just a different league!!! What's the closest off the shelf cylinder as regards to porting arrangements to the 305?
Ciao.
hard to find any road tests on the 305 bullet top end with new block as well.. top speeds. mpg would be interesting with a few carbs. 30mm dellorto.. 34 TMX 32 small for a good average.. RB 250cc drinks fuel so an extra 55cc . wonder how thirsty these are with fast road use..
My Grandad used to ride these in the mid-late 70`s, when he passed in 2017, I was left with five Lambretas and three vespas, all still are in my garage, should really get rid as no interest to me. Sx200, Gt200, ss180,gs160, thats what says on logbooks, cant find the others at the moment.
Muchas gracias.
@@Smarterthanyou-mthrfkr Here in India that bike was bit of an icon....it was sold here in the 80s and was the fastest machine on the road at the time....and for that same reason it didn't sell well.....and getting one now even as second hand costs about 300000 Rupees ( ~4200 USD)
