Unable to see the finished repair at the very end because of the stupid ads for the next suggested video, Thanks uboob for ruining the video. That is such hard work. Just imagine what this man could get accomplished in a properly tooled shop with good equipment. Impressive, most Impressive.
Wow that blade is incredibly sharp!! anyone who has tried cutting off a simple car tyre from a wherl rim will know just how hard the tyres are to cut, impressive!
I like how they carve away structural tire threading and just replace with soft rubber compounds half baked in a jerry rig. Without repairs like, this, we wouldn't have the RU-vid video's of trucks rolling over a busload of nuns.
This video is not for an audience in countries where you can just go out and buy a new tire when needed. Its purpose is to educate others in similar situations on how to extend the life of a very costly tire. They are very resourceful and aware that a repaired tire is less reliable than a new one.
The problem is, that you can buy machines in countries like Pakistan, wich are using these tires. Seems, they have the money buying these machines, but no money, maintaining them the correct way. The result is, that a lot of people get killed by failed machines and stupid operators.
@@horstmuller7512 That is not true. What evidence do you have that a lot of people are getting killed? You claim they have money to buy machines but not to maintain. They don't have the money to buy them either. Have you ever seen their machines? They are 30-50 year old leftovers from America! They are just starting in their industrial revolution. Give them a break, their 100 years behind the western world. They'll catch up. Also, the tire is perfectly safe. We do these kinds of repairs in America all the time with no problems. The guy just saved a $3000.00 tire from the scrap pile.
@@drury2d8 Yes, these guys are extremly poor and also have to feed their 10 children every day. Most of them are so hungry, after some minutes they can't hold their newest smartphone no longer, it falls off their hands and breaks on the floor. So sad 😪
@@mr.meeseeks8230 ."
Amazing to watch this man at work. He's very skilled and knows exactly what he's doing. Made a perfect repair and the tyre is usable again and has plenty of life left in it. 👍👍👍
I appreciate how the guy works! However I wouldn't trust a tire without the cords. And BTW - I had a side puncture once, not a big one. Yet - nobody agreed to fix it - they explained me that it was against the safety regulations of the ministry of the transportation. Seems they are right.
Only specialists companys can repair side walls and it has to be on a very very new tyre. I had a flat driving away from a tyre shop .pot hole ripped the side wall away bust my wheel .less than 2miles on the bike . Pushed it back to shop .they said to me about getting it fixed how I found out about it .
Hard work for sure. I hope with what ever is made on these video's these men get some eye protection when grinding. Hot I know but to enjoy the fruits of all this labor it would be nice to have two eyes. Thank you for showing how this is done.
I´m impressed, more in view if you have had tried to cut the material of such a tire. Forget our exaggerated requirements in Europe,. The world moves better on when this works fit. My respect for creativity and practical realisation under the given conditions.
I see you with a lot of admiration and respect because your work is not one, everyone does it with love and well done, for me you are great instead of throwing away you rebuild ❤❤
Beautiful work. Only for absolutely nothing. It won't last long. The steel carcass is damaged and the worker makes it even worse, because when the carcass is "through", the durability of the tire is at an end. And with Caterpillars, it will last even less. The tire is done. Plain and simple.
This is an earthmoving tyre, never subject to high speed. So while not ideal there is still a lot of life left in a very expensive tyre. This is often done in the western world as well. Done on truck tyres as well. Generally used on trailers however.
Informative post. I did wonder how reliable patched tires are for heavy equipment. But you helped me understand that it depends a lot on how the tire is used. Thanks.
would love to have some of that for things like atv tires, i am in the US and bought a tube of rubber stuff from over seas that you just squeeze out and spread, it cures fast and works good, looks like rubber and stays flexible, used it on some atv tire cracks, i still have some but was so happy with it i purchased another tube of it just to have on hand.
Would love to see what the tyre manufacturer makes of this repair. Obviously they don't recommend it but would be really interested in their views anyway.
It has been approved by the Dept. of Transportation 100%. OSHA approves of the work environment. Dept. of Public safety approves of his OPEN TOE sandals. And the EPA gives two thumbs up for inhaling hazardous materials. It's all good.

Yeah the problem isn't that the guy didn't try to make it good repair the problem is that once the sidewall is compromised the strength is gone. Would be interesting to find out how long this tire lasted before the sidewall family blew out again
Well it probably has a big, thick tube in it when mounted, I doubt it would blow out...if something happened to gouge it again in that exact spot, I suspect it would be weaker than the surrounding area and damage again more easily, but the odds of that are probably small...
He has great workman skills . Here in America , we can buy a new tire easily . When living in a poor country, money is almost non-existent and people have to do , what they can , to make it .
My younger brother worked in India for 5 or 6 years in the 1990s and he said it was amazing what an Indian worker could do repairing things, casting new metal parts, etc.
@@sulaak His experience was working in India but the ability to repair just about anything extends to most of the countries in that region. I've seen other videos of metal casting of huge gears and the machining and polishing to the finished product and the skills are impressive.
I can recall many years ago as an apprentice, getting a pink ticket from the large engineering company I worked at . This for operating a buff without its guard. This resulted in a fine, taken from my wages the following Friday. ❤
Happy to see the man wearing mask while grinding. I would give him my safety glasses if he was near as the tire grinding throws metal and nylon fibers everywhere. Blessings, hard work. Much respect from me.
It’s common in the US and other developed countries to retread and repair tires for large earthmoving equipment - giant dumptrucks used for mining, etc. as long as the bead is not damaged, you can retread a tire many times.
This man has serious skills! I would guess this tire is super expensive so it makes since to repair it the way he did. I wonder if he can retread tires as well?
Even if the reparation is solid, the rest of the tire looks like shit, it will explode for another side, this tire is totally finished and dead. Too much work for nothing, not worthy!!
I have done similar repairs myself long time ago when I was working in a tire shop. I could use commercial patches inside and didn't have to make a patch from a piece of a tire like that guy. And we used an electric heater designed for that.
With a certain load, it's bound to blow out again. I just hope the driver and any cyclist on road doesn't get killed. Sometimes, "just because you can, doesn't mean you should" comes to mind.
That tyres a disaster waiting to happen. I worked in a remould truck tyre business and if the side wall is that badly damaged it is scraped straight away. The steel wire in the side wall is what gives the tyre its strength. If that blows while someone is next to it they will be killed
Love watching these videos. Just wondering, would it be possible to have a clamp on steel plate, front and back, into which you could inject molten rubber? You could place steel or kevlar matting to overlap the existing sidewall structure, then inject above and below through the steel clamped structure (thinking like a large sandwich press). Surely this would be stronger than multiple small pieces of thin rubber? And potentially a lot cheaper for nations of lesser income..?? Obviously I know very little about vulcanising, so this is meant as a question, and not a distraction from the works performed here.
I hate the part replacers in USA, and they call themselves mechanics. I had a nail barely on the side, they wouldn't patch it and offer me to sell a new tire almost $50 dollars more than I paid on amazon. That infuriates me even further so, I take it to an Asian, he does it and don't even charge me. Funny thing is, I don't even remember which tire it was now and its been well over 2 years.
Though am not an expert in this type of giant tyre repair, I guess that the bonding process with the taping tool plus the final weight press, heat etc, sure makes for reasonable job?
