In this three-part interview, we honor Grant Palmer, former LDS seminary/institute instructor, and author of "An Insider's View of Mormon Origins" - which provides a plausible explanation for how the Book of Mormon was authored by Joseph Smith.
This interview has three parts:
Part 1: Grant reflects on his experience authoring An Insider's View of Mormon origins, discusses his disfellowshipment and ultimate decision to resign from the LDS (after threats of excommunication). Grant also reflects upon the impact of An Insider's View on the LDS church.
Part 2: Grant discusses his new, yet-to-be-published book, "Restoring Christ." Within the book he discusses why he continues to believe, how he justifies belief in Christ and the Bible after losing faith in the LDS church and in the Book of Mormon, what the atonement does and doesn't mean to him, how he deals with the God of the Old Testament, etc. He also discusses in-depth his conversation with an LDS general authority who claims that modern LDS apostles receive $1 million once they become apostles, and that many of them do not believe the LDS church to be true (a claim that I challenge).
Part 3: Participants in the evening share with Grant what his work has meant to them. In addition, Tyler Glenn (Neon Trees) sings two songs in honor of Grant from his new album, Excommunication.

Thanks be to God/Jesus for people like Grant Palmer helping to show a light in the LDS darkness that they have spread with their "other gospel" that John warned us about. Anyone who reads and understands their Bible, won't be caught in the trap of Mormonism or any other made-up "religion".

Amen! Praise the Lord and the Holy Spirit for leading people to truth and to light and out of darkness. All religion is a death trap. God created man, man created religion. Jesus said I AM the way, not religion is the way. Sadly Mormons love their religion more than Jesus. God bless you David and all my brothers and sisters in Jesus. :)

Take heart, Margaret. Now you get to talk to the real Jesus, the one that can save you by Himself without a "church" telling you what to do and think. Where do you look to find the words of Jesus? Not the BOM...the red words in the KJV. You must have a relationship with Jesus and not just use His name when you pray as some sort of "magic word" to make your prayers heard. A relationship with Jesus.
@witharebelyell2762
@witharebelyell2762 7 лет назад
Imagine Jesus on the Cross...having been scourged, swollen, bruised, bleeding. Having had the heart to ask God for the forgiveness of the pharisees and His own people persecuting Him. He who IS God and was merely showing and telling them the real way it is. He forgave them of all of this. Find it in your heart to forgive the Mormons for they also know not what they do, but think they are also doing God's works as the Jews did in Jesus' time. Lay the pain at the feet of Jesus and shine that light within you for all to see that you can't be whipped or thorn-crowned...Jesus did that for you!

Rejoice in the fact that you have found the real God and Jesus and you no longer are burdened with a church around your neck. Read the Bible and pray. Get with others who may share your experiences, if you need to talk/cry/hug it out.

Grant Palmer has made such significant and long reaching contributions to the discovery of truth with respect to the Mormon religion. These are much needed, and bear good fruit. May he also reconsider writing down his experiences with the GA and mission president with a 25 year closure so that in the future this history, which is true, may come to light. So much of what is wrong with the church revolves around the dishonesty of the organization. Please leave a record of truth to add to your legacy. Thank you.

The reason I like Grant Palmer so much is because he is so chill about it all. He's realistic and doesn't allow much personal feelings to cloud his judgement. In fact, you can tell that he is kind of sad about the fact that he discovered the truth about the lds church, and that's what makes him so believable. god bless him

I have no insights onPalmers books but I did know him as a young boy in California. My mother was a new and ambitious seminary teacher in his stake. He was a kind mentor and friend. I went to his home several times abd saw his homing pigeons. I had some pigeons myself and he was kind enough to offer me tips and encouragement. The kind person you see is the grant I knew. He was missed when he moved out of California

I am like Grant Palmer in the sense that I've discovered the LDS church to be untrue, but I know the New Testament Jesus. I hope that more ex-mo's will be willing to give the real Jesus a try.
@ldsmaverick7
@ldsmaverick7 7 лет назад
I'm in the minority of ex-mo's with you. I too still choose to believe in God and I believe that Jesus is Him. The most damaging thing the LDS church has ever done is try to counterfeit Christianity. It scorches the earth for a lot of mormons when they learn the church is not true. And as a result they are quick to throw the baby Jesus out with the bathwater, if you'll pardon the metaphor. God is not dead, nor doth he sleep. Winter is ending, and God is on the move in the hearts of people all around the earth. It's an exciting time to be alive!

Im an exmo who is now atheist. Even if I accept NT Jesus as the real Jesus, where do I worship, how do I vet the ministers/pastors, and what about the old testament and all the BS in there? OT God and NT Jesus seem like entirely different people. I like the idea of abiding by the good morals and values, but I dont know if believe that Jesus did die for our sins. Maybe it will take more time to heal from the shock of learning Mormonism was all a fraud.

@garrettrichards5559

@@truthbebold4009 Nope. I still think of him as a religious/thought figure but I have not seen any new evidence to convince me that he was the son of God, raised anyone from the dead, turned water into wine, etc. I will remain atheist until I see some real good evidence to convince me that I should return to be theistic instead.

Wow. I usually don't "click" with apologists for Christ's divinity as god but I could really see Palmer's points and his thoughts about the atonement actually made sense to me. Normally I really get disgusted by the idea of Christ dying for people but Palmer's views turned that upside down. I also liked Tyler Glenn's last song and I appreciated Sandra Tanner's words. She seems like such a truly good and truthful person. ❤️❤️❤️

Wow I cannot believe the Stake President instructed Grant's son-in-law to read a statement before the disciplinary council exclaiming Grant had denied Christ, along with various other "charges". That broke my heart. The fact that they were (are) willing to use families in such a manner is truly disturbing. One of the most disturbing facts I've learned since listening to Mormon Stories.

I agree with you and I've had very similar experiences since I left the church. If I say a fact regarding something I know about Mormonism as I did this past Christmas, then my brother and sister just stop talking to me! So the whole concept where they say family is so important I have not really found that to be the case within my family.

Thank God for people like Grant Palmer. He had the curiosity, gifts, knowledge and character to make a book like Insider's View of Mormon Origins possible. I also love that he still loves Christ. Joseph said if the Church isn't true then nothing is. And so many Mormons believe him on their way out the door. Joseph's final legacy. Joseph's revenge. Any Mormons reading this, I just encourage you to pick up the good book and give it a read. It's not the product of Joseph's hands. It was written by 40 authors over 1,500 year period on three continents, in three languages, and yet tells a single story of redemption. God is still real, and God loves you. We will miss you, Grant.

The Truth Matters... isn't it that simple??? "Thou Shall Not Lie" matters??? How can any Church, that claims to be Christian, accepting the Old Testament, lie or tolerate deceit? The Bottom Line to ALL of the discussions in all of the podcasts I've been listening to is...THE TRUTH MATTERS.. It's the only thing that matters. You seek the truth. Accept the truth. Live with the truth.

Love Grant Palmer and this video testimony. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qwFbNAXx-Ps.html There comes a time in our lives where we have to accept that truth and myth are intertwined. Then the question will be Is there enough truth remaining to hang on to with integrity. For me I have answered it with yes and no. Yes to christianity and no to unrepentant Mormonism just like Palmer. He has set such a great example for me and many others. God bless his soul and the faith heritage he leaves behind.

Who else feels such grief for the fundamental LDS the ones in polygamy? It makes me so sad because Joseph Smith is the one who led millions to bondage, pedophilia, sexual abuse. These followers were killed in Waco, Mexico . The church is responsible for this. Reorganized or not they are our brothers and sisters!!!!!!

the scriptures are for personal application. the moment we begin to say THEY instead of I is the moment we become hypocrites. "they should" they must the are not, simply follow Christ. to the best of your knowledge, that is what I am striving to do as an active, returned missionary African LDS member. Jesus is the way the truth and the life. all our energies should be spent seeking him and finding him .no not in making the videos .if all the effort and substance spent in making these was spent in sharing about the Savior.. this world would have been one less Pharisee bettered. if the Church is false then be better than them. teach about Christ, the truth . I know Jesus is the only way.

Jesus was human .... all the prophets were human ... Buddha was human ... Muhammad was human .... all of us who have a simian bodyform .... and yet can speak..think... and remember are considered human ... we all have a possible lifespan of around a hundred years old and then we die ... most of us are born either male or female and grow from a baby ... it amazes me that we think that some of us are gods .... or prophets ... and set up strange religions and rituals or something ... and write to try and make us other than human ... the worship of Jesus Muhammad Buddha or any of the shibboleths.. That we set up For all are results of human manufacturers... for some reason we love to manufacture idols... whether they are made of iron steel stone wood or imaginary ideas..... all of these Idols will pass away. manufacturer
