The Creamback in this video is a G12H version indicating it has a heavy magnet vs this Greenback being medium magnet G12M. The magnet size will play a part in tonal differences as well.
Glad you recorded how they sound in the mix with a band, the greenback really cuts through the mix and sits in a own space above the other instruments, it also has that classic sound. The creamback lower mids muddy up the bands bottom end.
Wow! Assuming everything was the same except the speaker, the difference was shocking! The Greenback sounded like someone threw a blanket over the cab. Very interesting. Thanks for posting!
Excellent demo, tasteful playing, perfectly executed. The more I hear the Cream, the more I like it. Green maybe a bit sweeter on the clean segment, but Cream sounds amazing overall
The Creamback times are very rich, also the Greenback vas a great one, i think i'll have both speakers in different cabs for a variety of tones, maybe i can use the Creamback for standard and Drop D, and then leave the Greenback for lower tunings

I have a Marshall Jubilee Mini Head played through an Engl 1X 12 with a Celestion V 30. Although even Marshall themselves pretend this would be the perfect speaker. I'm not that experienced but i would like to minimize a bit of the brightness of the amp. What would you recommend? I myself have the feeling the Creamback would be the best solution for a little more mids and darker sound. Most of the time i play at real lower volumes in the living room. I have found that the Creambacks are the foundation for my tone. I prefer the higher wattage capacity of them: it allows me to play even louder without early breakup.
First time I heard a GB and creamback compared and I liked the cream better. Much better here. Sounded the same just better/more 3d to my ears. There’s a big difference b/t the M65 and H75 creambacks!
Damm! I just recently ordered a greenback after watching dozens of youtube videos where the greenback sounded better than the creamback and now youtube recommends me this video clearly proving the creamback better.
I just ordered a creamback and I like the tone of the greenback here lmao... It's just our brains messing with us man. Both of these speakers are legendary

I recieved the single greenback for my combo and still found the sound harsh when overdriven so I exchanged it for a creamback and WOW instant smooth creamy sound when overdriven and all harshness gone. Never looked back. So moral of the story for single speaker combos go for creamback
@@vracan Did you get the 65 or 75? I have 65's in a 2x12 Marshall 1936 cab and the bass is overpowering/boomy and the high trebles are a bit harsh. As much as I love Greenbacks, I need more power-handling for this cab. I'm considering G1265's for it. I have G1265's in a 4x12 cab and they sound fantastic. They're older, well-broken in speakers from 1980-ish though.
I think the Greenback sounds best with the humbuckers in the Les Pauk. I use Strats mostly (some with a humbucker in the bridge), but I have a feeling the Creamback might be best suited for that. I wonder how they compare at stage volume. In a 1x12 (which is what I use) I think I would be better off with a Creamback.
After I watched this videoI didn't hesitate to order a Creamback G12H75 for the Marshall DSL1HR and the Marshall mx112 cabinet.But I'll get another cabinet to put on the Greenback G12M

Tengo en mi propiedad una caja Marshall Vintage 1960AX que está equipada con los G12M y estoy enemorado de su sonido desde que la compré en 1992 pero la tengo een Argentina y ahora estoy en España viviendo. El tema es que la pensaba armar con dos parlantes G12M y dos para los sonidos del MIDI pero me quedaba con pocos watts de salida y tenía dudas con las diferncias de sonido entre estas dos. Y gracias a ti me quedo con la Cream ya que me da mucho más volumen y también me gusta mucho su sonido. GRACIAS OTRA VEZ.

Best advice. I was looking for speakers for a 2x12. I already had a 1x12 cab with a GB. After reading this, I decided to put two GBs in the 212 and get a CB for the 1x12. I could not be happier with the results. Thanks!
The Cream sounds like your playing with a wah half caulked and the Green is crisp and clear like I personally would like to here sound out of a speaker My 2 cents
I love the greenback because it’s been on so many classic recordings. The G12M Creamback is a better alternatives to the H Creamback for that classic rock tone but with better power handling. G12m-65 has similar mids to the Greenback. I love the smoothness of the H75 Creamback and it sounded beautiful for the Verve part of the demo. I really want a smooth singing speaker from Celestion and that’s the one to get. You can cut the bass on the amp to bring more mids too.
I feel the greenback more full of mids than de creamback.... The creamback I think is better for cristalines cleans on a strat and vintage sounds and the maybe the greenback for hard rock and metal....

I just bought the creamback to upgrade from a celestion 70/80. Should work out well overall, but I do think both of these sound phenomenal. For a classic rock tone, how could you go wrong with either and or both? 👌
I play srv style sound with a tubescreamer overdrive to add crunch. So my intention is to get this high frequencies clear so i was thinking that vintage 30 and creamback would be a great combo. What do you think about that?
I just added two creambacks to my 4x12 1960B cabinet with V-30's and it sounds amazing. Bigger with more bottom fuller mids and more sparkely highs clean. I wish I would have done this.sooner.
@@qua7771 Good for you mate, thanks for the info! I maybe will combo the creamback with greenback to get vintage bluesy sound in a 2x12 cabinet. Gave up on v30 because it is so different sounding than creamback and i dont want that to be honest. Greenbacks used on most vintage amps and cabinets. So i think that would be more pleasing in my situation.
@@yigit_kuru I probably should have mentioned that I was after a 70's rock hard rock tone playing mostly Les Paul's. A guitar that can use a little help in the upper mids and highs. My speaker combo wouldn't have the darker mids your looking for. Greenbacks have a lower efficiency than the G12H-75, H-30 and V-30 so may get overpowered by them. It's worked out for some people. I wish you well in your tone chasing.

They sound fantastic together. When pushing the tubes on a Marshall 2525H, the heritage G12M greenback starts doing its thing, breaking up early, while the heritage G12H cream back is crystal clear and focused. When sufficiently “worn in” they really open up nicely...
No problem. I have them together in my 4 x12 now that i use with my jcm800 2203 and sounds incredible. But if i was you, put the creambacks on the bottom as they are louder. They are 100db and the greenies are 98db.

Try each speaker in your own amp and who knows what the result will be? I've given up trying to decide which I prefer from comparison videos. I'm gonna have to just pony up and buy one. I have narrowed it down to one of these two though.
