I find it hilarious that Askeladd is sitting there with the surprised pikachu face when Thorkell uses a duel with Askeladd to manipulate Thorfinn to do what he wants and fight him. I imagine Askeladd is thinking " Hey that my thing!" lol, loved the reaction the wait till next ep is gonna drive me crazy!

You gotta love it when Thorfinn rages because he rarely opens his mouth. He sharpens his daggers and waits for Askeladd to grant him a duel. How can some people NOT like Thorfinn? Dude is a beast. He was practicing throwing knifes at a tree when he was a little boy, and now he’s killing Danes with the same method.

see how askelad was betrayed and his legs shot by arrows? he did the exact same thing to thors and probably countless others. and now it's being done to him.

Worth noting, cause I don't think I've heard it (unless I just missed it) mentioned so far: The Artorius that Askeladd keep's referring to is King Arthur. That'd be the Latin version of his name. Maybe y'all get to it in the future but still...that's the king that Askeladd thinks is promised and waits for. Love this series and y'all.

Torgrim isn't actually dead. Well- not in the normal sense I guess. Thorkell basically scared him into never being able to function like a normal person ever again. He got so scared his brain went "lol nope outta here" and left his body on a very dumb autopilot. So ya, uh, at least he lived?

I know this is 3 years late and probably someone already mentioned it, but I just started rewatching this show through your reactions and I wanted to add that I honestly think Askeladd kind of planned all of this out in his head. Not everything, but he had them destroy the bridge to waste their time and make Thorkell catch up so he could maybe interrupt the Rebels from killing Askeladd and to make Thorfinn and Bjorn go with Canute to protect him. I think he didn't actually think Thorfinn would really come back to "rescue" him, because he wants to kill him himself, but he knew it was a possibility. His original plan was just to rescue Canute and then whatever happens to himself happens probably but then this outcome happend which is really the best of all and proved that Askeladd's luck wasn't really gone, it just changed which way to go since the objective regarding the prince changed as well.

Askeladd is finished if Thorkell finds out how he killed Thors!
