Hey guys just letting y’all know once again if you get a spam message saying you won something you haven’t unfortunately it’s a fake account. Hope y’all enjoy the video! 🤘🏻
This is a fantastic upgrade for any stock 4l60e. You get a bump in the 1-2 shift, but its meant to fix the lazy 2-3 shift. Makes the 2nd gear band release quicker and it doesnt fight the 3/4 clutches, which saves the 3-4 clutch pack. Great for performance, towing, or even lifted applications.
I have a 4l60e transmission in my Chevy Silverado. I had a shift solenoid go out. When researching solenoid repairs I found out about Corvette Servos. I changed out all 4 solenoids, changed the filter, changed the fluid, and put a Corvette Servo in. What a huge difference. No more lag from 2nd to 3rd which was a big problem before the shift solenoid went out. Highly recommend doing this upgrade.
The best in vehicle install I've found. Mahalo! For my 2004 Colorado inline 5, I had to remove the crossmember and lower the transmission to get the servo back in due to clearance issues with the floorpan. stock exhaust.
I agree. I can’t stand the 4 minute intro of bla bla bla seen in so many other fix-it videos. I’m not interested in egos. I’m interested in action. Dave in Omaha
nice install! If you are like most of us, lying on your back, when you install this triple check that snap ring. Even use a little mirror. Plenty of people have ruined their core by having that servo shoot out and breaking the lip off because the snap ring was not seated in all the way around.
Lol I’m one of those ppl who indeed, just threw the snap ring back on , all Willy nilly, and 4,000 bucks later, had a tranny builder upgrade a lot of the weak points, along with having him find me a new tranny core , and having him install the servo I shot out, lol costly lesson to learn 🤷♂️
yep when i installed mine the snap ring wasnt seated and the servo was sitting cockeyed and was leaking trans fluid all down my undercarriage. fortunately i was able to reposition it correctly and its runs strong as fuck now
Great part to upgrade for a stock 4L60E. Another great idea would to install an additional trans cooler in line with the radiator return line as it helps keep things lasting a bit longer. When you dig into the trans (because you will with one of these), I'd recommend doing either the 4L65E upgrade or going with a 4L80E trans.
Most trucks already have an external transmission cooler that's not connected to the radiator. You're not going to notice a difference between a 4L60 and a 4L65 unless they were built wrong.
@@rockroll9513 Most, if not all, vehicles already have an external transmission cooler, most of which runs through the radiator but sometimes has a separate one in front of the radiator. A little added cooling, especially if you live in a warm/hot climate like I do, makes for a world of difference. Also, the 4L60 and 4L65 are relatively the same transmission, the 65 simply has stronger gears, larger fluid lines, bigger torque converter, and a slightly larger filter (to list a few items) to run around with opposed to the 4L60 to which I had blown up 7 of them. Still running on my built 4L65E and going strong I might add. It's capable of taking more power through the trans than the old 4L60 was and I only have mild mods on my 5.3L.
@@TheWolfMatt Im looking at a round body near me for sale. Needs a new trans and was told that i should upgrade to a 4L65E. Think my best bet would be that and pair it with this same servo?
To help service your transmission you could add a dorman trans pan it has a drain plug so you can change your trans fluid very easy I put one on my 04 4l60 trans while I had the pan off I changed out the two shift solenoids very easy to do ordered them off Amazon did it all for less than a 100$ fluid included used the factory ac Delco shift solenoids and sentheic ac Delco trans fluid helped a lot shifts so much smoother now
i always love the tailgate cam, i remember when you did the exhaust videos for that white gmc obs you had that video really helped me with my obs exhaust lol.
The BEST BANG FO BUCK upgrade i ever bought for any vehicle was a ELECTRONIC tranny mod for 97F150 it was also about 60 bucks and installed with 3 wires in less than an hour and it gave a great upgrade in street mode to shifts and in strip mode you wouldnt wanna have a neck injury and drive it hard cuz it was that crisp and almost harsh at WOT
Another couple good things to do these is aluminum accumulator pistons a stiff spring in the 1-2 accumulator and blocking off the 4 gear accumulator with two pistons stacked back to back and shift kits like trans go where they have enlarge the feed hole in the Vavle body separator plate if you feel comfortable doing that kinda stuff it’s super easy and trans go gives step by step instructions
I have a 05 cateye with 236,000 miles on it. I installed the corvett servo a little over 100,000 miles ago. The stock 4l60 is still running strong with the factory lm7 with a custom tune and 3.42's on 33in tires. I just got back from a 2500 mile trip to Colorado with a horse trailer and 2 horses full of tack and feed. The truck did great I averaged 12 mpg and the trans temp never got over 205 degrees in the mountains of New Mexico. The cateye was the smallest and only truck on the trip with several new truck all brands that didn't have a check engine light on the entire trip.
It’s a Chevy ❤ I’ve owned 4 only 2x I’ve got a check engine light. Super easy fixes. Knock sensors both times super easy fix. Besides that never has an issue with them
Nice clean truck, man. I had to comment, because I heard your tire noise and it took me a second to realize that was the tires. It sounds exactly like the what my rear end has been doing for a year, lol. I have a replacement, I just haven't had the time to start swapping it in.
I’ve got a 4L80E transmission, it seems fine as far as shifts. Glad I don’t have the 4L60 lol I’ve always loved the way it shifts… if only it had more gears…
OMG. We use to swap those things out all the time back in the early 90's. It's been so long since I've swapped one I forgot about how many I've swapped. 🤣
Justin @ black baer said my 06 Vmax had a slip in the 1-2 shift when I had him tune it, when I bought the truck in 08. Had a local transmission shop install the corvette servo and haven't had an issue with the transmission in the 15 years and 125K miles I've owned it.
👍EXCELLENT 👍 You always make everything look too damn easy. 😂😂 Those tires are louder than your exhaust. I’d like to see you tackle the headliner that is blowing in your ear. Probably any easy fix for you with some spray adhesive. The whole board in the center of my 2006 Sierra VortecMAX w/6.0 has started sag.
I love the video 🤘🏻 I agree it’s a great cheap upgrade.. with that being said I’m die hard Chevy fan but also firm believer if you ain’t shifting heavy you ain’t in a Chevy 😂.. so every truck Chevy I’ve ever had has had trans built and my go to list is 1.beast shell 2. 2-3 corvette servo 3. upgrade pistons 4. beefier clutch pks 5. and depending on build shift kits stage one or two nvr done a 3 but usually able to do it round 800ish on 04 and up 650ish on 03 and down and they have been stout one has been in 3 different trucks one build.. just a little adv if you pulling out and doing your self
Ohh and it also improved gas mileage about 5-10ish more a gallon my 99 sierra with 35s I was getting about 25 hwy and 20ish city depending on my foot 😂 but it was duel ex with flow masters 44 so it was hard to stay out of it
Good stuff. Super clear install instructions. Can you do a tutorial on how to fix/ reglue?that headliner flapping that we all have going on? Thanks again for all your work on Chomper and that "V8 goodness" you left us with.
I had a Corvette shift servo installed for a couple years and it made the shifts feel much better. Then while towing I blew up my forward sprag gear. After I got the transmission rebuilt my shifts were so harsh I though it was going to break my neck or something in the driveline so I actually removed the Corvette shift servo and installed the stock one. Not sure if my transmission builder installed a shift kit or what but after the rebuild I no longer feel like I need the Corvette shift servo. Also those black seal rings you thought were broke or ripped are supposed to be like that. They work similar to piston rings to keep the pressure from pushing past the seal.
I installed this on my 02 silverado with a 4.8 and 3.73 gears makes a decent difference also the truck feels lighter under throttle carries more of its own weight extended cab 4x4!!
I had to replace two trans once they reached about 100k miles. I had always been a GM guy but after that experience moved to Ford. Have a 2010 with 230k and no trans problem yet.
Hey man, I’m installing the corvette servo in my 2003 Silverado tomorrow. It’s my daily so I just wanted to get your opinion. How’s it doing in Chomper?
Way more fluid came out my truck definitely needs a transmission fluid change about a full 16oz my truck is facing on a downward hill engine first thing about to install and see what happns 04 GMC Sierra 1500 5.3 z71
Yeah I got a corvette servo in my trans and from 2-3 or 1-2 it sounds like a damn timing cut pop every time I’m like 20/30 percent throttle sounds mean asfff and it’s a amazing with towing to lmao
Hello..I just bought a 2004 GMC ENVOY 4.2L I-6 Engine and I think I have a 4L60E transmission (I think). Will this upgrade help me as well, or is it just for GMC Trucks?
That needs to be installed with the bottom end of the trans removed. Need access to the band clamp. There is a clearance check requirement between the servo rod end and the band. Most of them need to be grounded down a bit (the rod end of the corvette servo), or when the trans heats up, the band will rub against the drum and wear the band out faster.
@@waitandbleed55 Thermal clearance is required. If you don't know how to rebuild this transmission, don't install the servo or you can buy a book and learn. There are also good youtube videos.
hey so everywhere i goto to find this part its sold out or out of stock is there a link to a similar one or the same one cause i cant find it any help would be great
Just did this on my truck, tip 1. Don’t park on a downward slope 16 oz of transmission fluid came out, 2. When you think you got the ring on you didn’t push that mf some more. Was pretty easy but I rushed it and few problems accrued but I definitely got a new transmission fluid change after leaking 7 quarts lucky I stop at my house and leaked about an out her quart and I fixed the metal ring seal (hardest part of the job, truck moves now but at very low rpm’s I heard a squeak like at 1-5 mph and 500-1000 rpm.
@@always1k646 yep gotta get back under the truck and make sure the ring is all the way in. Push the servo at the same time and it works really good, truck had worked flawlessly but hard shifts 1-2 and 3-4 are easy.
I can see a lot of confusion here. That servo applies pressure to the band which applies in 2 and OD. The corvette servo has a bigger diameter apply piston. Therefore it applies more pressure to the band. In other words you will see a firmer shift in second due to increased pressure/less slip. The main problem with that transmission is the 3-4 clutch pack. This is a good upgrade during an overhaul, (along with many others) but it will do very little to increase the life of this transmission in most cases. I am not saying don't do it, I am just trying to keep expectations in line with reality.
