In this video, Martin Rios looks at a bodybuilder who claims that chin ups are a bad exercise to build bigger biceps. Martin Rios discusses why the chin up needs to be included in your bodybuilding routine to build bigger arms. The chin up is one of the best exercises to build bigger biceps as it is a compound movement for your biceps so you are able to lift a bunch of weight. After watching this video, you will know why you need to add the chin up to your bodybuilding routine to build bigger biceps

Yeah chinups do help but don’t rely on them as your main builder people who saw great results on their biceps from doing them are either genetically blessed in the biceps or the gymnasts that are blasting gears Also the reason most calisthenic guys have great biceps is bc most of them are shredded and being shredded shows the separations in the biceps which gives an illusion of a bigger muscle

I only do chin ups and do the variation Martin talks about. I’ve been doing this variation for more then 2 years and it’s built my biceps stronger and thicker. As a natural you should always focus on getting stronger not bigger and that’s just facts and if you think it’s wrong ask Martin the one with the degree and knowledge.

@@JM-wf6mv you might get faster biceps gains from chinups + curls, you never know. It's most likely going to be the case too, you wouldn't rely on a deadlift for all of your back work despite them being a secondary in the deadlift, just as the bicep is in the chinup. In either example, your biceps or your back would still get bigger, but it just isn't going to maximize. Also, you can focus on just being bigger and strength can come as a secondary. Many people with degrees are frauds too, look at Joel seedman. Not saying Martin is but just cos someone has a piece of paper, doesn't mean they can't spew nonesense

@@Bokesyck You don't need to "involve" compounds for the biceps specifically, cause that's what your back training is. If you're already doing pull-ups for your lats, you don't then need to go and add more chin-ups for your biceps. Same as Triceps, if you're already benching and overhead pressing, you don't really need to go and add another press variation for the triceps.

Here at athletic bodybuilding we train movements not muscles. So here's how you butcher a chin-up to emphasise the biceps more 😂😂 Also, chin-ups are great for biceps, but the stimulus to fatigue ratio is nowhere near as good as a curl. No one has ever said, I can't bicep curl today, my lats are still sore from yesterday. No reason not to incorporate both.
@loovlehcuppatea2830
@loovlehcuppatea2830 6 месяцев назад
Alex leonidas got a 4 plate chinup and didnt get the arms he wanted. He had to CURL. You cant maximize f you dont emphasise and prioritise. Also i know that cos youre weaker than some functional people like people like Alex leonidas that you always prioritise load. Load isnt everything, ESPECIALLY when that load is being distributed to the biggest muscles vs the small one ur "trying to hit". Itll still definitely build muscle, but relying on a movement that builds the bigger muscle as a priority to hit the smaller muscle wont replace curls or chinups AND curls. If you really want to get purely biceps from a chinup, drop the ego and curl your hands to behind your neck or elevate your heels and actually curl with no shoulder movement

@Vigil_no_dad 5 месяцев назад
Look at athletes and gymnasts, they're all fitted with big biceps, why? Because of chin-ups, pull-ups, and bodyweight movements that always include their arms, especially chin-ups, since it's like a curl, but you're curling yourself up. Hence, it's a superior method, but not the ONLY one. Like Rios said, always have a variety. It creates better opportunities for strength and growth.

@mobashirzahidmoghal 5 месяцев назад
The only time i don't agree with mario. Yea that would happen if you don't go for a full range of motion. Just like a pull up, if you go for a full range of motion then it'syour lats doing most of the work.

@@loovlehcuppatea2830 Alex is not more powerful than ian, ian can do 150kg while Alex can do 136kg. And I saw a few videos about that guy and he says that pull ups and chinups are most optimum. All the muscle strain is same if performed with specific techniques, genetics won't change if someone quits chinups and starts preacher curls. And I did try isolation, it's stupid concept, makes you weaker overtime because only focus is big muscles, my arm wrestling got shit when I did isolation and my daily life strength also reduced, when I started doing compounds again I regained a lot of strength, it also helps in daily life.
