I remember when this book came out thinking it was the most beautifully designed book I'd ever seen. I think comics publication design has caught up quite a bit, but it's still gorgeous - and the insides ain't bad, either. Now, when are we getting volume 3?!?

‘Oog & Blik’ is indeed a Dutch publisher. The name is a Dutch pun: eye and look or eye and tin (literal), but ‘ogenblik’ (pronounced the same way) means a (split) second or short moment. Sort of like: within the blink of an eye..

JEEZ! What a delight - THANK YOU!!! I live in Cape Town, and at the moment it's very hard to get books. I have a couple of tiny Chris Ware books that I found in second hand shops, but to see inside this Date Book is a dream come true. Thank you guys! Thank you, Chris Ware! (Oh, and did I say how sweet it is to hear the two of you talking? You both wear your deep knowledge lightly, and with a disarming gentleness.)

This is pretty stunning stuff! To be able to see the unmitigated truth and process behind Chris Ware is really rad and inspiring, and to have Jim and Ed take us through this is a privilege. I just ordered a copy, along with Lynda Barry's Making Comics and Mooncop by Tom Gauld, because Drawn and Quarterly has the cool stuff. Can't wait to see you guys do Vol. 2. Thank you!

I was at UT Austin working on my undergrad degree in the mid 1980s when Chris Ware was there. I read his comics in "The Daily Texan" student newspaper every time it came out. It was obvious that he was a highly talented artist with a very deep understanding of comics as an art form, even then. I'm really glad he went on to even greater success over the years.
